I remember watching this as a kid in the 90s. When I first saw Whoopie in her natural hair I remembered being mesmerized by her natural beauty. This still remains my favourite movie.
now i'll remember this comment that made me realize the beauty in my natural hair. i watched this when i was younger in the 2000's with my grandma and it's always in my heart.
My natural hair "was" like that when I was younger and I got forced to permanently get my hair straightened because my parents thought my hair was ugly [I had to always put it in the braid. When I was a kid I had to shave my hair because they thought it would turn out straight but oh well it didn't]. I never thought about my hair growing up and in the past 2 weeks (August 11 - August 25) I went to visit my mom's side of the family back on the islands. She permanently straightened my hair again, and not a single day went past and she would always straighten my hair and change my hairstyle. I hated it although it made me confident because they will say I look "beautiful" which was a ok. Also the times when I have to wash my hair I always get asked to blow it and my hairs like boof (like Whoopies hair) but its straight. I just know my old hair wants to come back but I can't help it.
@@fictionallove_2416 Don't ever let anyone tell you your natural hair isn't beautiful or that you need to change it. It's your body, you should be able to do whatever you want with your hair without fear of being ridiculed or forced to do something against your will. If you want your hair to be poofy and gorgeous, then you absolutely let it. People who can't see your natural beauty for what it is don't deserve your time. Even though I'm gay, there's always been something attractive about Whoopi's hair here, or even Monica Rambeau from the MCU. People who just let it naturally do it's thing. Speaking as a guy with straight hair, straight hair SUCKS. You can't do anything with it.
I never tired of hearing this song; I never tire of watching these powerful voices sing a powerful message! I’m a cancer patient I’ve been considering having this played at my funeral because they’ll be many people there who love the Lord and they’ll be many people who haven’t discovered the power of the Lord‘s love and that’s what I want them to know before I leave the last moment to speak to them…I’ll already be in heaven but selecting my music for my funeral is my last chance to give them a message about how great our Heavenly Father is…. And these ladies do it the best… Thank you for whoever put this movie together and put this music out so that we could listen to it for years and years and years which I have been doing and I know somebody’s gonna think I’m off my rocker but I’m not. I promise you I am completely sane but when you know that you’re getting closer and closer to the end of your life, you look at things differently. And I love this song and I don’t want a sad, sad funeral…I think about my small or younger grandchildren who would rather hear a song like this then a Los Lobos sad song that they don’t really understand. And I love this one in fact I love all those Sister Act songs fron I & II! Wishing all of you a blessed day
You are courageous person. May the joy of the Lord sticks with you. The first time I read this kind great message is in the bible where Paul wrote to Themoty "Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 TIMOTHY 4:6-18
Thank you for your reply to me❣️🙏 I was very encouraged this morning when I opened up my email and found it. It was so comforting to read your words and to know that somebody took time to reach out to me. Yesterday the Lord answered many prayers, when I saw a specialist in Iowa city who was very shocked and saddened by my condition and how bad local doctors had allowed you to get. He immediately sent Inner hospital communication to three specialist in this large hospital asking for doctors to immediately next week contact me to aide in the quality of my life as I continue to fight cancer issues and heart issues. I felt full of hope when I left his office yesterday and then this morning I read your beautiful email and I got out my Bible and read your scripture as well from Tennessee. The apostles have so much wisdom and hope and truth in their words and clinging to God‘s word is the best thing we can do when Life Gets really tough , And lean on one another. God bless you for your kindness. Again I thank you for having this wonderful music from Sister Act available on RU-vid ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I absolutely love Mother Superior smiling when Sisters Mary Robert and Mary Patrick step forward. She is very loving and proud to see her girls coming out of their shell and embracing who they are.
Sister Act 1 and 2 are classics in my book. The music is so incredible and as a believer this song brings me to tears almost everytime. The harmony, charisma and everything about this performance is heavenly!
"I will follow him" is a full circle moment for "Sister Act" on many levels: - it serves as the book end from the Lounge Medley where the song was sung in the usual up tempo manner but performed rather hastingly to - in the words of her co-singer - wrap it up. In the beginning, Deloris has become a lounge singer but seems rather lost. At the end of the film and her journey, she found joy and friends for life who are singing with her. - the new arrangement of the song with the classic slow intro and the upbeat progression seems to be a compromise between the worldly programme most of the nuns wanted and the classic conventional programme the Mother Superior had envisioned. In the end, rather than fighting against progress, she embraced and became part of it, thanks to Deloris. - the song itself is originally sung for a man but by changing the arrangement and being sung by nuns turns it into a hymn to God - as Deloris said: "You have to put attitude in what you sing. It's not just quacking, this is rejoicing. You are singing to the Lord." 30 years already and it's still one of the best films ever made.
How are there only two comments here for crying out loud?!?! You sir/ma'am took the words right out of my mouth and for fucks sake I need to rewatch this movie as an adult. I don't remember much of it as a kid but I feel like I'd have a newfound love and appreciation for it now.
and they restored the church which physically falling apart and had about 7 people at a mass... and had pope JP2 in the audience by the end. Mother superior is about to cry tears of joy. Sister Mary Francis even gets to "take it to the rafters" at the end of this performance, and it's just the right thing in just the right place
i agree with everysingle word typed in this comment, however I dont think it was the best movie made. Because of the african religion erasure of the black american folks, which led to the religious syncretism we had aound the world. But for entertaining, yes, It gives me chills and I think it its amazing
I will follow him follow him where ever he may go And near him I always will be for nothing can keep me away He is my destiny I will follow him Ever since he touched my heart I knew There isn't an ocean too deep a mountain so high it can keep keep me away away from his love I love him, I love him, I love him And where he goes I'll follow I'll follow I'll follow, I will follow him follow him where ever he may go There isn't an ocean to deep a mountain so high it can keep keep me away We will follow him, (follow him,) follow him where ever he may go There isn't an ocean to deep,(to deep) a mountain so high it can keep, keep us away, away from his love (I love him) oh yes I love him (I'll follow) I'm gonna follow (True love) he'll always be my true love (Forever) from now until forever I love him, I love him, I love him And where he goes I'll follow I'll follow, I'll follow He'll always be my true, love my true love my true love from now until forever forever, forever There isn't an ocean to deep (no ocean) a mountain so high it can keep (nothing can keep us away) away from his love
I lost my mom tragically and unexpectedly in 2018. She was a titan of industry, but she was also a choir director. She gave me my love for music. We watched this movie together. I'm not sure anything makes me cry more than when Whoopi gets down during the crescendo because my mom was right there with here. This movie means a lot more to me than I ever thought it would. It was like an unremembered memory until it popped up on my suggested. Love it and anyone hurting out there!
I've never been a particularly religious person by any stretch of the imagination... But these two movies came out when I was in my early teens and I've always loved music. I love singing, I love the meaning behind lyrics, clever wordplay in lyrics, all of that... And for as long as I've been on RU-vid, 15 years give or take, I love being able to search up a scene like this whenever I want. It gives me such simple joy to be able to experience these moments again and again that have stuck in my head and heart for 30 years. And as I mentioned, I'm not a religious person, but the Pope giving their performance a standing ovation has ALWAYS been a standout moment for me. I mean, it's the Pope.
I had a friend recently mention that he’s never seen this movie. My mind went straight here. Though I didn’t mention to him anything that happens, this scene is one of the most memorable scenes in any movie for me since i was a kid. What an incredible moment and time to be alive! The nostalgia!
A classic in our family. Introduced our kids to this movie early. So glad I could share this amazing piece of my childhood with them. I still adore all these ladies! Thank y’all!❤
This song and this performance is so divine. Have been listening to this even since it was released. The most beautiful rendition of a evergreen classic. ❤
I love sister act it is my favorite movie I love the music to watch and enjoy today and every day I love Jesus Christ I am a believer thank you to this wonderful movie
***** I looked at the film's credits, checked on IMDb and I Googled it. Also that singing voice sounds very different from her actual voice in real life.
Just like you can’t have a Beetlejuice movie without Michael Keaton, you can’t have a sister act movie without Whoppie Goldberg. Can’t wait for sister act 3 next year.
Nothing but Evangelist propaganda, heretical. In religion, every action has a meaning, that's why the real Pope would never attend a service like this. I can understand being am Orthodox, but a Evangelist? That's too much.
