For the hair follicle situation just get the spray on color that some women use to cover their grays from comin in just ah thought theres ah few of em out there that works I know Loreal makes them as well!!! GL wit dat hun!!! 😉😉😉
I use distilled water with a few drops of lemongrass and a drop of peppermint and 1//3 mixture of rose water and my hair is soft. I have 4c hair...True 4c and my hair tends to be on the dry side. I notice that if I don’t use distilled water I can tell a SIGNIFICANT difference in my hair being dry. 🤗
Our essential oil mixtures are so similar! 🤩 I use distilled water with a few drops of lemongrass, peppermint, and 1/3 rose water as well! I also add a few drops of tea tree and cedarwood. Early in my journey, it used to keep my hair soft. But now it doesn’t seem to be enough! I’m going to try spraying my hair more often. Maybe 2-3 times a day instead of once. 😊
Great update! Have you considered a rinse or semi-permanent hair color for the follicles...most of them are temporary and vegan but can do the trick for a couple months.
Thank you! I did actually consider a rinse or a semi-permanent hair color! I talked to the Sisterlocks cosmetologist about those options. She told me that rinses/semi-permanents last for 3-4 washes. Since I wash my hair every week, I feel like the expense of getting the color touched up every few weeks would get add up quickly. I’m still considering those as options though! 😊
@@missdanibelle I agree. The follicles won’t dye like hair because the “texture” is so different. 😕 From people who choose to do this, I’ve heard that it won’t make the follicles invisible, but it makes them far less noticeable at least.
Hi AmbyrEssence greetings from London, UK 🇬🇧 great video. I don't have the hair follicle root bulb issue but I always use permanent dye to colour my crown because I am virtually all grey so need the coverage. PI'm just over 6yrs locd now. I've always covered my crown with a satin/silk covering at night, and have been colouring my hair for more years than I care to remember. I used to colour it every 12 weeks when I was relaxed. I coloured my hair the day before I had my Sisterlocks installed. Since locing my hair I only colour it 2 times a year, 3 times a year maximum (touch up the roots in between with a spray colour and colour grey in the lipstick applicator). I try to make sure to keep my crown well moisturised without making my locs limp. So important to my loc care to increase the moisturisation after washing, in particular as that's when my locs are driest. So I oil my scalp after washing with a home-made oil mix, and spritz for moisture maintainence as and when needed using a homemade spritz. I've only been doing this for the last 3yrs. The first 3yrs I used water only, nothing else, to moisturise my locs in between washing and my locs were fine, no damage despite always having used a permanent dye. Everyone's hair texture is different so may I suggest you go with your gut instict when considering what you're willing to do to remedy this issue you're currently dealing with.
@Dana Foster I never ever noticed them when I had braids or twists! Maybe I just didn’t realize what they were lol. Are you thinking about getting locs?
@@ambyressence + I’ve wanted locs for quite some time, but I think I’ll miss my curly hair too much. Your locs look beautiful, even in this teenage phase!
@@samanthabrown6427 I wonder if it started earlier in my journey. Maybe I was just oblivious this whole time 😂. Eventually our locs will be old enough, and we’ll be able to cut these annoying things off lol.
Your locs have grown so much! Seems like those who interlock have an issue with the hair follicles coming out. Wonder if it has anything to do with how tight the retie is or how it’s done. I have traditional locs and don’t have that issue.
Hi Shaina! ❤️ Thanks for watching! You were the first to comment, so you win the giveaway! 🥳🥳 Shoot me a message on Instagram, so I can get your information! 😊
Hey Shaina! 💕 I haven’t gotten a message from you on Instagram yet! Shoot me a message if you’re still interested in the prize! 😊 If I haven’t heard anything by Thursday, I’m going to assume it’s okay to choose another winner.
I only started to notice it recently! I think it was around the 9-month mark that I started noticing the hair follicle problem. I think it probably started happening earlier in my journey, but it only became noticeable when ALOT of follicles had built up.
Thanks for the info! I absolutely looove your locks, And the length is perfect! They always look so bouncy and full of body. Do you have to manipulate them to do that? Or are they like that when you wake up??
Thank you!! 💛 I don’t manipulate them at all. I sleep with a silk scarf at night. When I wake up, I spray my locs with water, do a couple of hair-flips, and go. 🤩 The upside to having Sisterlocks!!
We have similar problems lol. My hair is in the teenage stage, when i want them to lay down they stand up super tall. When I want them to stand up, they droop down 😂. My baby locs were way more behaved for me tbh. My hair follicles are also light because all my hair strands starts off blonde before growing out and getting its color (imagine having blonde baby hairs, makes me look bald sometimes until you look closely smh). My hair has also been dry, esp my scalp but Im afraid to moisturize due to buildup and my locs also still slip out some when I wash so Im worried moisturizing products will cause huge amounts of slippage. Im kind of over them right now 😂. Glad to see someone experiencing some of the same stuff, mind you I started out with short hair yet we run into the same issues lol. Sorry for the long comment, love ya content boo💛😍
Omg. Aside from the length we started our locs, we are actual hair twins 🤩. Love it! Hopefully we’ll fall back in love with our locs soon 😂 Thanks for watching 💛💛
I'm 2 months locked and I also am having issues with the white hair follicles. I thought this was due to my postpartum hair loss but good to know others are experiencing the same thing. Have you also experienced the little balls which are stuck in the loc that are formed from the dead hair?
The hair follicles are so annoying. But it’s bound to happen as normal shedding occurs. You may be experiencing it a bit more with postpartum hair shedding. I have experienced the little balls! Those are called buds. The buds are essentially the “heart” of the loc. When they show up, it’s how you can tell the loc matrix is starting to form. 🥳
