@SoldierOfFate taking that into consideration it did pretty good. This movie was gold not to much talking but scripts don't always make a movie and isn't needed as much as some believe. People talk way to much.

At least it's directed by a Finn and stars Finnish actors. Once upon a time the same story would have been told by Hollywood with whatever B-listers they had on hand doing comically poor accents.

@@jackanaples Simo Häyhä is a real Finnish sniper from WW2, also known as The White Death. It has been estimated that he killed about 500 enemy soldiers during the Winter War in 1939-1940. The Winter War was about Soviet Union trying to invade Finland, not unlike the stuff they're doing right now in the Ukraine. However, Finland didn't receive equal support from other countries so Finland had to survive with other means and a lot of sisu was indeed needed. All of Häyhä's kills were accomplished in less than 100 days, an average of five per day at a time of year with very few daylight hours. I think this movie is about later period in WW2 when there were Nazis in Finland and the Finnish military forces were forcing them away from Finland in 1944-1945. Look for details about Lapland War if you want to know more. The Wikipedia page is a good option because that page is well written.

@@MikkoRantalainen I understand that. The thing is, Simo Häyhä is a real person. A genuine hero. He's not an action hero in the way John Wick is, or the main character of SISU is. Unless of course there are action movies about him.

Is it true that it's full action from start to finish? (Or should I say from start to Finnish?) Some people were questioning if all the good parts were already included in the trailer.

There is nothing wrong with this as the Economic policies raise the workers up instead of the usury that occurs in the former systems mentioned. Finland joining NATO however will destroy everything great about it and will make all the fighting against the Communists and refusal to take part in the western empire, all for nothing.

Reading the reviews for this movie on RT made me think about this, and I was curious if anyone else had the same reaction.

@@martyfromnebraska1045 The Germans stationed in Lapland actually were probably some of the nicer Germans during the war. The whole thing about them burning towns is true but almost everyone in Lapland had been evacuated previously through cooperative measures from the Finns and Germans, so they were only burning buildings and destroying roads. The Germans and Finns would even warn each other about what they planned on burning and bombing. Neither side wanted to fight the other in that war.

Before deciding to accept the Soviet demands, President Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, former Finnish commander-in-chief, wrote a letter directly to Adolf Hitler:[20] Our German brothers-in-arms will forever remain in our hearts. The Germans in Finland were certainly not the representatives of foreign despotism but helpers and brothers-in-arms. But even in such cases foreigners are in difficult positions requiring such tact. I can assure you that during the past years nothing whatsoever happened that could have induced us to consider the German troops intruders or oppressors. I believe that the attitude of the German Army in northern Finland towards the local population and authorities will enter our history as a unique example of a correct and cordial relationship [...] I deem it my duty to lead my people out of the war. I cannot and I will not turn the arms which you have so liberally supplied us against Germans. I harbour the hope that you, even if you disapprove of my attitude, will wish and endeavour like myself and all other Finns to terminate our former relations without increasing the gravity of the situation.

Budget for this was not huge, but oh-boy they managed to maxout bangs/buck -ratio :) It was an awesome experience to watch this on theatre with like minded ppl
