I make my list AFTER the work is done. I list everything I did and THEN I scratch it all out. So much more satisfying than seeing things left that I've neglected to do or run out of time! No self recriminations for me!!!! Enjoy the celebrations of guests.
That's exactly what I do. A daily list of what I have accomplished. It took me many years to learn not to feel bad about unfinished lists. Thanks for sharing!
Carlos, just a suggestion. Watch some of your videos. Your face gets a very upset look on it when Arnie speaks. As a speech therapist, I am very attuned to body language. I realize you want to talk but, we find it upsetting to watch you when you do that.
I love how smart Carlos is, he has an amazing memory and he is obviously very interested in a lot because he remembers where they bought something which holiday etc. and the names that are hard to pronounce he has no problem with them…
I, too, used to use the soap/crumpled newspaper for windows, Arne. Somewhere several years back, at least in the US, newspapers changed the ink that was used, and it didn't shine up the windows, etc. So, I went over to the commercial spray cleaner in the bottles. Oh, well. Memories, I guess.
I'm grateful for your podcast and your sharing ideas. The quilts are going to be beautiful, Everything you do is couture and lovely. The trip with Kate sounds like a lot of fun. She's a very interesting person. Have a great staycation. ❤
When we bought our house 39 years ago, there were no gardens and only one old cherry tree. Now, when I sit on the porch, I feel like you felt looking at what you planted. It's such a wonderful feeling.
I grew up in Switzerland from 1954 to 1995. That’s when I moved to New Mexico, USA. Meanwhile the global warming brought the temps up to 37º C for today. Will expect some days with 40ºC and over. I love it around 20-25ºC max. - like you -love to wear my hand knit sweaters. Here I have only a window of about 4 month to do that. But will not complain, as I love New Mexico!! (Live here now for 28 years!)
Wish I could be a member at this time but since I cant I'd like to extend my thanks, obviously to both of YOU for being such a delight, but also to all of your members who help make it possible ❤
Window washing tip, as you said, tepid water, a couple of drops of dish washing liquid &&& a couple of teaspoons of white vinegar. Soft cloth to wash the window, in sections, then use a squidgy to dry the window, using a dry cloth to wipe the squidgy dry after every swipe. Have a great weekend with the family. Happy Bday, Arne. Cheers
My best cleaning tip for the window sills and especially the ones that have tracks for the screens, is to sprinkle them with baking soda. Then put some white vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray the vinegar onto the baking soda. it will foam up loosening the dirt and allowing you to just wip it clean. Great for cleaning many hard to reach places like bathrooms, and corners of floors etc. Have fun at your birthday- house party.
It's great to see you guys 😊. It's past midnight here in SW Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦, your podcast just uploaded👍. I am a night owl, so I am watching it now 🙂. Hope you had a great party 🥳.
I always end with a smile listening to my feel goid gus. Thx for sharing . ❤ Can you imagine my 3 feel good people on a cruise together😮 It is going to be awesome. Enjoy your party🙂 after all the hard work.
Our house before the last one was built on a bare lot. I told my husband it looked like a scab on the land. Over the years, we added more than 75 trees. When the leaves were out, the house disappeared from the road. It was wonderful. We moved eight years ago, and the first thing the new owners did was to cut down all but about eight trees. I was devastated! And, I completely agree with you, Carlos! 90 degrees is way too hot. I just melt! We are dealing with smoke from the wildfires in Canada. Have a fabulous dinner party! I'm sure your guests will love every moment!!
I love what you are doing with the embroideries for a quilt. I have just been working on a new quilt for my granddaughter, it’s been a long time since I quilted. I have several unfinished quilt that I need to complete. Lots of things to do.
Window washing solution suggestion: water, few drops of dish liquid as you mentioned, and vinegar (amount not too critical) - the vinegar helps cut grease on windows - then just use a squeegee to 'dry' the window - works a treat (I have a lot of large windows and I've found that the fastest way - no buffing/drying with a cloth, although I do have a cloth to wipe off bits here and there). Hope you had a great time with your visitors!
I love love pink and green! I have loved it for over 50 years!!! Arne I am happy we are near the same vintage! Enjoy your big bday! We came to Norway for my big bday! Fantastic! Norwex with the two types of microcloths.. One is a polisher! Fantastic!
Rhubarb pie! Folks here (California) seem to use "strawberry rhubarb" as a synonym for "strawberry and rhubarb," but I grew up (New England) with the distinction that there were two kinds of rhubarb - the green one, and the dark pink one - strawberry rhubarb. I love it all.
Happy birthday Arne! I hope you have a wonderful party & year to come. Congratulations on a fully booked cruise. I'd love to go! I recently added a hexi project to my crochet & knit wips, like Kate no matter how long it takes. I absolutely super love your hexagons with old embroidery!! Wowza! Can't wait to see that finished. Blessings!
I love the sass, "You're a guest in our kitchen. Our kitchen, our rules." 😂 But yes, when I first started watching your videos I didn't understand that the "arguing" back and forth between you two is how you play. Now I think it's hilarious because I know no one is getting their feelings hurt. It's just a difference in cultures I think but if someone isn't used to it it can come off as being mean. Anyway, I love you both! Thanks for posting yet another fun and entertaining video. 💛 With love from Central United States.
It’s 0630 here in Virginia Beach and I so enjoy watching you both and all the ideas you share with us all. I am knitting a dish cloth using the Norwegian way that you are teaching is. It’s been a little struggle because for 50 yes I did the American way that I was taught. Your Norwegian way is much easier on the wrists that I agree. Thank You both for all you do for us.
The best window washing tip I have is to wipe the inside from side to side and the outside top to bottom. That makes it easy to see on which side to remove any possible streaks.
Oh yes, i love that gingham in the hexagon configuration, stunning! Cant wait for you to be filming quilt videos. I make quilts but dont knit, so this will be a bonus for me! You can always use the darker one to make a smaller piece for the table, etc. Yes, Carlos, I love the white/light color as well. You could always use the darker ones for the back of the quilt. I didnt realize you had a cruise with Kate and quilting! That is exciting!
I'm also making strawberry/rhubarb pie for dessert today. Do you do a lattice top or a closed top or a crumb top? I think I'm going to try a crumb top this time. Arne, I still clean the windows with crumpled newspaper, it works great! Happy 60th birthday!!! Enjoy your guests!
Your videos make me feel so good! Thank you for being comfortable sharing your life with all of us. My husband and I do “loving” banter, back and forth, like you do. People don’t seem to understand, that’s our way of thinking, understanding the other’s point of view, and negotiating a resolution. (I said resolution, not Revolution! 😂) Anyway good for you…it’s wonderful to spend any time with you two.
30⁰C. here in Kansas today. Pretty normal for this time of year. Wheat harvest is going strong and I enjoy watching the big trucks haul wheat past my house. Many of these drivers have windows down as they don't use AC in their big trucks. I, on the other hand, am enjoying the AC and my sewing.
I enjoy your videos very much, became a member a few minutes ago 🙂 my partner‘s mom is from Norway and I cannot wait to get back there hopefully soon. Just watching you in your garden reminds me so much of our vacation last year 🥰 I am very much into knitting, crocheting and sewing most of my life, unfortunately due to work I am not half as fast with my projects as new ideas come into my mind 🤣 you are an inspiration 🙂 oh… and for the window cleaning: I learnt that it is best to use either newspaper or leather cloths, but also using luke warm water with two drops of fabric softener. Since I don‘t use that at all, I am also sticking to dish soap. And also cleaning windows when it is rather cloudy.
Hi Arne & Carlos! The traditional way to wash windows is with a mixture of hot water and clear vinegar. Since vinegar is acidic, it cuts through grime. It also doesn't streak. I learned this from my grandmothers. My ultra clean mother-in-law cleaned her windows this way. Her windows were always clear & spotless. By the way, I'm north of New York City & the weather has been very hot and humid. Also, we've been suffering from the smoke coming down from the Canadian fires. The pollen has been extreme since April. I sympathize with Carlos...I suffer from allergies, too! Stay well & happy knitting!
I'm with you Carlos , I love making lists. It is Imperative when you are having guests. I too love the feeling of checking things off the list, knowing you are accomplishing something. Happy Birthday celebration Arne.
Lovely episode. I'm with Arne. About 23 degrees Celsius is oké, but not any warmer. I used to make clothes for my Barbie dolls the way Arne does. It was fun.
I was one of those people who called your actions bickering but I didn't mean it in the sense that you were actually fighting fighting that you were just really picking on each other and I thought it was lots of fun I love watching the two of you together. I am like you in that 7072 at the most is my favorite temperature and here I am in New Mexico and we have been having very warm weather. I just live in an apartment nowadays so I don't have to be out working in it which I am grateful for. I keep my plants watered on my Lanai and that's all I have to do outside. Enjoy yourselves outside while you are still able to do your garden and all those fun things blessings and hugs
Enjoy your party! The garden looks magnificent and I'm sure your guests will enjoy themselves immensely. Happy Birthday Arne and Happy Summer to you both.
Hi! I would love to see a tutorial on developing a pattern! Also, I don’t know how I missed the info about the quilting cruise with Kate. I must have missed that newsletter. What a great idea!! Thank you Arne and Carlos! I always look forward to seeing you! ❤️
The closest yarn shop to me is 185 miles away. The one I prefer is 231 miles away and I stop by there when I visit my son in LA. I like that they remember me. They have a great selection of yarns and support their local indie dyers, which I love. They also have multiple crafts supported.
P.S. Carlos, you are doing super with your knitting. I am nearly done with the second wrist warmer I made from the Helmer swatch 🎉. It will be hand sewn today to get that off my list.
I love your channel! What attracted you to buying your home unless you’ve covered this in previous videos! A delightful and beautiful home with two interesting people! 🥀…South Africa
It’s so cool hearing about your vegetation. It sounds so similar to here in Scandia, Minnesota. Scandia’ s sister city is Mellerud, Sweden. The birch trees and clematis and the list goes on. Your gardens are beautiful.
I am just sitting down to watch this now. I hope the party with your guests was fun and you got all your list completed with time to relax. A cruise with you both and Kate would be wonderful for sure! Thank you for another great SAKFAB!
Good luck on cleaning the house. Hope the party goes well! The garden is looking very nice and green. Love the doll sweater my favorite color. Take care
I love you both you crazy (in a great way) gentlemen! I love that you share the reality of how crazy life can be with so much to do in such a short amount of time! We have all been there. I know you are going to have a wonderful time with your friends. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Cheers from St. Paul, MN
Carlos, you like order and control. Which is wonderful! But in quilting, sometimes the fabric tells you what to do. You may love the darker hexie flower(s) to contrast nicely with the lighter ones. You'll know when you lay them out. I love the flowers you have shown so far. It'll be a gorgeous quilt. I also love the color and pattern of the peacock scarf. ❤❤ You guys are so creative.
