Your video really confirms what I was thinning through for the southeast. A stratus system with the fanatic vest just makes so much sense. Thanks for putting this together and sharing. How does the stratus jacket fit and flex for bow hunting?
Your videos have been amazing for choosing my first Sitka system. Any chance you could make a video or just comment on best way to wash your Sitka stuff, for both cleaning blood and de-scenting, and also any experience with ozone systems and the Sitka, have searched RU-vid and can’t find any videos like this for the sitka gear. Thanks for what you do!
I have been pouring over the internet looking over the fanatic and stratus jacket reviews. This by far was the best and most informational review I have seen. Excellent work and thank you! You helped me make my final decision since I live in Northern Wisconsin and typically hunt in later October, the fanatic jacket it is. Now my only question would be the pants or bibs. I would like to see a comparison of either the Fanatic bibs and Stratus bibs OR do a 3-way comparison of both bibs and throw in the Stratus pants. Thanks again FRR!
Great videos buddy. I live in jersey, gets cold enough. I have both systems. I find the stratus very versatile. Some merino wool , fantatic hoodie startus jacket, i then wear the fanatic vest over that. Great for bowhunting, not alot of bulk on the arms. Still love my fanatic jacket, especially the new 2020 version
Great video! Question: I have stratus pant and new 2020 coat. I layer etc and super warm...but it is finally getting in the low 30s and maybe some 20s. Wondering can I save money layering under stratus to save money NOT buying Fanatic? Or will I always be warmer in the deep IL cold by just layering normal and breaking down and getting the Fanatic coat and bibs?? Thanks
Hey bud.. can you do some videos as to what you wear as far as pants, lower layering etc.. I’m in South Carolina so your wearing will be pretty close to what I would wear.. thanks
I own them both. I wear the Stratus a lot more. Its definitely more versatile. I only wear the Fanatic when temps are below 20°. If you can only buy 1 get the stratus. You can always layer up under it with insulation
They are both awesome jackets, but the Stratus will get you through more season below the Mason Dixon line. If you live southeast and you are worried about the few really cold days in the low 20s, then just buy the Celsius jacket @ $229 It is the basically the same thickness and warmth as the Fanatic without the berber outside fleece and the hand muff pouch! Celsius is a solid warm jacket that is quiet and has the primaloft!
good reviews, i also hunt in GA. what jacket should i buy? stratus jacket or jetstreem jacket need help can you do a review. i feel like the jetstreem is loud, havent been able to find a stratus jacket near me to see for myself.
Excellent! I have been flip flopping around trying to decide between the two. Getting both, problem solved😂. I’ll be hunting big game in the Rockies and white tail and wild hogs in Texas. Soon will add turkey and water fowl to the mix.
Love my Fanatic, just wish it had a straight zipper like the Stratus, not a fan of the zipper, other than that it is very warm. Might get me a Stratus too for early season.
Do you think a jet stream jacket could serve as a substitute for a stratus jacket for hunting whitetails ? It’s basically the same jacket as the stratus without the brushed face.
Field Series Review yep mines dirt color too. I think paired with the stratus bibs, the Celsius midi jacket and the heavy weight hoody I should be good for the whole season.
Thanks for the videos, been binge watching all weekend. I primarily bow hunt in Oklahoma. I have the fanatic hoody and fanatic vest. I am pretty cold natured so I will probably get the fanatic bibs to go with either, but I was wondering if you could comment on what jacket you thought would be best. I would normally just go with the Stratus, but am bummed thinking about the features I will miss out on if I cover the vest with Stratus jacket (primarily the hand warmth!) Thanks again man.
I own both the Fanatic set, and Stratus set. I live on eastern Long island NY and it can get cold, but half the season is in the 50s & 60s. I wear the base layers with the Stratus as well as the Stratus vest. Early season I wear my equinox set. Genius design on all of their gear.
Donald Moore i use the stratus set and my hunting buddy uses the downpour. he has to wear an extra or thicker layer than i do as the downpour doesnt have any insulation. if you layer correctly the downpour can accomplish the same thing. one item of note - yes the downpour has a gore waterproof membrane, but he did experience issues of the design of the downpour actually wicking moisture into his other layers at the sleeve cuffs, that said, we were out a drizzle for several hours and the stratus was starting to wet out as well
