When I was a young teenager learning to play the guitar my two favourite tv shows were The Johnny Cash Show and The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour. These shows were the highlight of my week.
He’s such a genius this guy. Wears his talent so lightly, like it’s the most casual nothing-at-all thing. He is one of the very best there ever was on guitar.
What makes him so great in another way apart from his vocal ability and guitar playing is his ability to make such great covers of so many songs. You were never short changed by Glen Travis Campbell. Never seems to get the credit he deserves, but undoubtedly he is one of the great ones.
I love his version of this song! When I was in Elementary school way back in the 70's my dad took me to see him in concert in Savannah Ga. Just the two of us. It remains one of my fondest childhood memories! Glen Campbell is an American treasure. Such talented performer!!
Glen was and still is amazing. It was very sad to see that awful disease take him away, but I like to think now he's up in heaven singing all these tunes again
my father finds this cover boring to otis redding's. it has caused a rift in the family and i haven't spoken to him in years because glen campbell's version is definitively the best version.
I will admit I had to grow up to realize the genius of guys like Glen, Roy Clark, Buck Owens....et al. As a kid I dismissed them as some sort of hayseed, white trash silliness. Looks I was the silly one. Prejudice is not only causes hurt to others, but hurts yourself, because it limits your view on the world. Anyway...thanks for post. Great vid.
