The brain's many neurons send signals, which the wires in the implant detect. Different wires cause different functions on a wireless transmitter. The brain then learns through practice, which kinds of thoughts will make this or that happen. Just like any other skill, one gets faster and more precise with it over time.
@Dendrite20
@Dendrite20 6 дней назад
Neuro grad student here, it's simple to understand but not easy to execute --> electrodes detect neural signals which can be correlated to certain actions on a computer (for instance, when you think of moving up with your mouse you have neural signals that are different then when you want to move down or click. This distinct signal is then programmed on a computer, such that when you have the thought of moving your mouse up again, the chip detects this signal that the computer has registered to initiate a particular command, which would be to move the mouse upward. Rinse and repeat for each movement/action

Pretty much the only reason he can't just get up and walk right now is because of how long he's been paralyzed, his nerves and everything are dead. But if you are a person who just got paralyzed, you could be WALKING out of the hospital in less than 2 weeks. This is beyond anything that was expected

My reservation comes from uncertainty with the possibility of it being used incorrectly or with ill intent. Not necessarily by the patient, but by the developers. Please don't take this, read the book of Revelation in the Bible, chapters 13,14&16, about the mark of the beast, this is it,Musk on Zuby said:"we put a chip in your brain to control your mind", also see José Delgado and mind control here on youtube, he put a similar device in a bull's head to control it, there's hope in Jesus Christ, there's a hereafter, ask The Lord to come into your life to keep & guide you in these last days.

Brain to computer interface. What potential uses of this device do you envision for future use? I'm guessing implanting other devices that can restore movement. This could be many different limbs of the body or back.

@@Anime.Driven There's already voice command and eye tracking software that can do that. This is not worth invasive brain surgery unless it can do something i haven't seen.

It's not that dangerous. Other than boring a hole in the skull, the device is just touching the brain with tiny electrodes. It can be removed if necessary. Not much different than a pacemaker. Plus, as the device is improved, so are the capabilities.
@void________

@@kenbob1071 Infection, blood clots, seizures and not to mention loss of speech which is one if the few capabilities he has left. I would beg to differ on it not being dangerous. I'm sure he's helping advance it but with Elon's timeline for completion, he won't be able to significantly benefit from it by the time it's improved. Didn't the monkeys die that underwent this?

not to dampen anything, but whether the device is safe yet we really don't know. A lot of their test animals died after transplantation. I hope for Nolan's sake that it is safe now.
