President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convenes with various government officials to discuss the ongoing relief efforts and receive the latest updates on the effects of Severe Tropical Storm 'Kristine' during a situation briefing at the Kalayaan Hall in Malacañan Palace on October 25, 2024.
In the previous situation briefing held last Wednesday (23 October 2024), the President emphasized that the government had already prepositioned assistance and prepared timely and adequate responses for the victims of the Severe Tropical Storm. These include family food packs, water search-and-rescue equipment, monitoring conditions at various ports, missionary electrification for off-grid areas and the management of major dams throughout the country, among others.
According to a report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on 24 October 2024, 'Kristine' has caused massive flooding in different provinces, affecting more than 430,000 families or two (2) million people across 12 regions.
