Performed in the Drama Barn by University of York DramaSoc. We're missing the edges of the stage but all the audio is there :)

Reading this play for a class. You all really brought the play to life. Thank you for recording this and making it easily accessible.

Makes a lot more sense performed than on the page. As prose it gets quite turgid and bewildering.

I watched this play at the Royal Court Theatre many years ago. Superb!

It's a brilliant presentation and performance indeed! The Pirandellian effect has been there during the enactment of the entire play but it would have been better if the director had brought Madame Pace physically to the fore as her entrance into the stage denotes a distinct surreal dimension when the 'illusion of reality' becomes shattered and it is she who alone has been given a proper name which is again very ironical in the context of the play (for she hardly brings 'peace' and causes disturbance). Nonetheless, the 'acting' of the 'six characters' especially of the Father, the Stepdaughter and the Mother is superb. I'm glad to see such a good production. It's a unique Pirandellian play and it's an important Postmodern text. Anyway, thanks a lot. Keep uploading such good videos.

You're all amazing actors and well done on your performance. We performed this play in Year 9 in a collaboration effort with the girls school next-door to our all-boys school. I made a point of never missing a school play - and I wasn't going to miss the chance to meet girls. But this was the most boring and directionless production I think I ever had the misfortune to be involved in. I only had a small part so I spent most of the time hanging about chatting to people. It was sort of good for socialising (except there's only a certain amount of that you can get away with during rehearsals), but I suppose Pirandello's Six Characters In Search Of An Author is something I can get my head around the point of - I couldn't when I was 14 and not now either. The only point I could see was that it was like an intellectual challenge, a complete brainf*ck. The head of drama who picked this play loved it, and so did my highly studious classmate who got the main part. He never got a good part in any other play, but this was his big moment. I enjoyed having smaller parts in other school plays, including Shakespeare plays, but I hated this Pirandello thing. I didn't understand or connect with the point of any of the lines I was delivering, while other (intellectually superior) people smirked and thought the whole thing was marvellous. From an artistic point of view I felt it was like being in hell.

I thought Madame Pace is going to show up, like, for 100% real but then she is just a hanger, that made me...a little disappointed. But I'mm gonna watch this of course, for research.
