The gutteral technique does unfortunately put a huge strain on your vocal cords. Plus Chris smokes a ton of weed which doesn't help when your a gutteral death metal vocalist lol. I still love Chris though.

Not that he's an old man, but he ain't young no more, combined with the smoking and what those vocal require. But he did what was needed at the time in order to become one of the death metal fathers and one of the greatest vocals.

@@antc2427 I love Chris because of his music and how it's effected me. I know this sounds cheesy and cliche, but Chris's vocals and lyrics have helped me escape reality at times when I really needed it.

Chris explained in an interview that its damn near impossible to even break even while touring in America. He explains how people hear don't buy physical media anymore and how streaming platforms don't really help them at all. He went into detail about the whole Spotify scandle of how artists barely get paid and all. Places like Germany who still buy a lot of CDs make it easier for the band to make money. I love Chris and plan on vacationing to Germany sometime after the pandemic to see them live and hopefully a few other bands. But yeah. That's why a lot of these bigger bands popping up in recent memory come from places like Europe. Like jinjer for example. One of the bigger bands formed recently. They're from the Ukraine. Metal never died off over in Europe. Here in America, North America especially... Metal for the most part is completely dead. Name 5 bands born in the US after 2009 that is huge right now. I bet you can't even name one. Metal was BORN in Europe. And for the most part has stayed there. Every time metal gets Americanized for the most part it dies off as a trend. Like the Nu metal movement of the 90s for example. It was a fad. Trash Metal was formed here in the US, Canada and Brazil with bands like Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, Anvil and the list goes on and on. But by the early 90s Thrash was dead in the water. In the last 25 years we've gotten some great bands like Lamb Of God, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage Breaking Benjamin and all those bands. But those are a handful. Metal has been dead in North America for a very long time. Metalheads just either don't realize it or ignore it. But yeah, SFU doesn't play in the US because metal is dead here. Plus, nowadays, everyone thinks they're a critic and can ruin a band's reputation by being dick-heads. SFU gets shit on by all these so-called "tastemakers" and bash bands just because "they're not brutal enough" or "this album in their 10+ album discography sucks therefore I must shit on them forever" That mentality is what has completely murdered the already dying music industry. These idiots thinking they know everything.

@@Eastonv1000 thanks for that bro! interesting.im glad I saw sfu a few times.i think the only metal band that still is big is gwar.they have a bunch of side things they do that keep them going though, otherwise they wouldn't make it all these years either.

@@jessehaaland7689 Yeah, man. Glad there are some good bands out there still doing well. Just SFU unfortunately didn't have that luxury. And Cannibal is only still relevant because of those first four albums and maybe a handful of the 10 or so of the George era records as well. But we all know Chris is what made cannibal. At least in my personal opinion.

@@Eastonv1000 if you ever look up the bands opening for gwar on almost every tour,one or 2 of them is side project bands of gwar members of their extra money so since all the bands are cool they mostly share the same road crew for all the bands during those crazy gwar tours..sometimes a gwar member(alot of them on the roster) might even be selling merch at a table for the opening band or walking around!
