SIX GUYS is an exploration of horror, grief and the mind and is inspired by works from Junji Ito as well as Charlie Kaufman's "I'm Thinking of Ending Things". I have worked on this short animated film for over 10 months and I am very proud of the finished product. I really hope you enjoy the film and feel free to like and show your support in the comments.

I'm speechless, this is so cool! This short film was incredible, I love the overall art style and aesthetic in this animation. Also the story is really good and each chapter has so much meaning. I can really tell how much work has been put into this! It's incredible! The sound was used really well with the animation, making the whole experience amazing. As a fan of horror and junji ito, I love the creativity and thought that went into making this. Oooo one more thing to mention, is the perspectives used in this animation are soo good and really adds to the whole film. I really appreciate the attention to detail as well because it really adds to the overall picture for each scene. I really enjoyed this! Can't wait to see more from you!

@DestinyPogChamp
@DestinyPogChamp Год назад
@@nuclearstuff9442 Not the world in his head, the world in general. So far, we've barely seen who our main character actually is. We don't know where he lives, how he lives, what his current situation is (if he even has one), etc. Plus, you can't just randomly show all this and not do a follow-up. I mean, it's a great story, but it can be a bit confusing. For example, why does he have to fight all these monsters in his mind? Did something happen? If so, was it an accident or maybe somebody broke up with him and he's going a through a dark time, point is we don't know. Furthermore, we don't have any solid ground on what is actually happening in reality for him. For example, he could be a normal college student trying to make ends meet with an ill mom, or could be in hell and this is reality, heck, he could even be in some sort of simulation and doesn't remember anything outside of it (like the matrix). Also, sorry if some of this isn't accurate, just going off of what I remember.

It's so amazing how this film is structured! I adore the cinematography, and choice of camera shots, the pacing everything! The tone gave this self aware and yet complicit sense of terror, and while it shows that he's going deeper and deeper into his own mind, the horror comes in having to face these creatures at their worst. The way he confronts them is nonchalant, but in a way where he's baring through the progressed panic. This film is so beautifully done, and it depicts the sense of these emotions preying onto a person more and more. I feel like just starting out with an invasive thought, which would be Nicole, is so brilliant. That's how a mental crisis starts.

This is, without any doubt, is the best animation I have ever seen in my life. Because it is an exact depiction of my dreams. Since I was 12, I have almost never had a dream that was not a nighmare for some reason. And the little details which you notice already when the dream is over, the transitions, the fake awakenings, even the overall atmosphere of calmn, seemingly endless anticipation of terror, which never comes whole at once, is the same. I have no words. Even the "clock theme", so to say. Thank you very much.

Absolutely love that, from my interpretation of this, you've taken the horror of existential dread, loss and trauma and anxieties, and all the fear the human mind can conjure up without requiring any assistance and given them physical form in this film and showed us this lovely and terrifying mindscape as someone works through their fears and learns to let go.

Even though the animation is pretty clunky at points, this is still 100x better than most horror movies I've seen. You have an amazing knack for capturing the true thrill that's lacking in million dollar films (and I think the animation style adds to it anyway, since a perfect animation leaves less to the imagination).

I really like the aesthetic of this short film. The way that it (at least from what I see) draws from different sources of somewhat modern horror such as Junji Ito, Trevor Henderson, The SCP Foundation (specifically Confinement but the use of symbols to correlate certain things certainly reminds me of SCP-esque storytelling), Five Nights at Freddy's, all while adding a distinct style of the producer that really intrigues me. I'm writing this after a first watch, and I'm definitely going to have to go back and examine the backgrounds and details to properly interpret the symbolism that the author uses, particularly in the recurring motif of the pyramid.

Love the style and how the themes are intersected with these nightmarish encounters, and that some how you were able to tie all these things into a simple yet effective story of grief. I have a question though, do you have any recommendations for similar type of horror like this, whether that be game, movie, or show? Also what type of sub-genre of horror would you describe this? I am honestly in love with this film and would love to find other media like and and I can’t wait to see what else you will make in the future!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I am not exactly sure how I'd classify this genre of horror but similar works include the 'Little Nightmares' video game franchise from a structural viewpoint, games like 'Darkwood' and 'World of Horror' from a creature design viewpoint, and films like 'I'm Thinking of Ending Things' from a thematic viewpoint. Also if you're looking for purely visual similarities I'd recommend reading 'Fragments of Horror' by Junji Ito. Thanks again for your interest in the animation.

Your amazing animation is one thing, but I think what blows me away the most about this is your mastery of horror. The entirety of this is terrifying, and not just bc I clicked on it in a dark room initially thinking I was about to get a sitcom about workers at a burger joint. The scene where our mc runs from time to reach the paradise switch is scarier than anything I’ve seen in high-budget Hollywood horror movies, and the buildup to it was amazing too. Every layer of the time room is terrifying and threatening in ways that I won’t fully go into for a comment that you’ll probably never see. I also love your twist; “the main character was the real monster all along!” or “the main character has been turned into a monster by the old monster they killed!” is a classic twist, but you made it completely unexpected while still having it make sense, and it’s both twists in one if I’m understanding it right as him “reclaiming” his demons into himself. He feels powerful and menacing when he destroys the last two effortlessly, and I think my favorite scene is when he’s in front of the Six Guys; the moment when I recognized that he was stalking it the same way the six guys were at the start was a lot of fun. I really hope you create another video in this setting bc I’m dying to know more about Mr. Moon, Nicole, and whether his dad being the time monster is due to his fear of time coming from his dad’s death or something more literal, hell, I want to know how much of the dream(?) is actual monsters and how much is metaphors. I love this video

This is just amazing. The composition of the scenes is so good, movie-like good. And you pull off the Kaufman atmosphere really good. It shows you put a lot of work thought into this. Its amazing that you did it in just 10 months but I can see that you are being smart about choices where more details and frames are needed and where the are not. Its unbelievable you did it all alone and still made all the right choices in every aspect. You seem to understand the storytelling, the compositing and perspective, animation, you got it all. I imagine it would make an awesome video game. There is enough action, there is a story without too much taling, and there are level-like chapters. :)

At around 14:14 (I see it's the most replayed part of the video, probably because of similar thinkers) the monster makes sounds that immediately reminded me of morse code or binary. It's tricky because (besides the awesome background audio, and distortion from playing at lower speed) the sounds have high and low pitch, and also different sound durations and silence durations that don't quite match up. Going off of pitch alone with high = 1 and low = 0, using my hearing at 0.5x speed, I got 10010010010011000110, which separates into 5 blocks of 4 bits; 1001 0010 0100 1100 0110, or hex 924C6. This didn't turn into anything useful from my 5 second web search, except maybe when inversed to 0110 1101 1011 0011 1001 and put through ASCII encoding, which gave m^3 (the letter m, cubed). I tried getting morse code but I have no experience so... well: [ -. . -. .-. . -. .-- -. . ..- -. ]. I tried some kind of scheme with 01 being a short duration high pitch sound and the like but couldn't manage it. Another weird thing I typed down was [ - _ _ -_ _ -- _ _ - _ _ -- - _ _ __ - -- _ ] which doesn't really make sense looking at it. Anyways the morse code translates to: N E N R E N A (.-- was technically a dot with a really long dash, not two dashes; I'm not sure) N E U N; NENRENANEUN, or ATAKTANTGA when inversed. It's definitely wrong, but, well, I tried. Thanks for a terribly beautiful video before bed!

Perhaps that about the state of our mind palace? Messages about intrusive thoughts? Is that blood-red crackle of electricity supposed to represent some form of evil or malice? Is it even the same thing coming from his own fingertips and from the bullet wound in the chest of that monster from the restaurant? So much I would want to know, so much meaning I can tell is hidden just beneath the gory bullet wounds and creepypasta-esqe (am I spelling that right?) monsters

reaction> as of 13:13 honestly? you hooked me with your work! those 10 months really show i didnt really feel convinced at times, mainly with that screamer- at that moment i just thought it would be "cheap" horror but i decided to go on, since i liked the look of these cryptids/monsters/horrors. i also doubted since proportions at time seemed weird, but i cant judge at all- im sure it must be one hell of a task to draw a body, i cant do it myself! so i ignored it, and as time went i got a liking to your art style, the borders.. it has a weird aesthetic to itself that goes pretty along with the world you're setting: Also that, the universe itself that's being built without any info dump is incredible, most often good horror wont give away information... it is the unknown what gives fear after all as far as i've gone, i'm enjoying your work. i dig the artstyle and the main character isn't just a lucky fool, from what we can see it seems he's somewhat used to these things and knows how to deal with "them" and their effects/world/domain/levels he's saved constantly by having a quick mind, making good on-the spot decisions only thing i didnt enjoy of the first cryptid is its screamer, other than that? it has a decent atmosphere that reminds me of claustrophobia, its not seriously uncanny but it could give a decent spook to someone new to these kind of horrors... second cryptid was just a quick show (i think) of how their world/powers work.. they aint inmortal, you are trapped with them as long as they live- or well.. "live" clearly these things get in the brain and mess with the conscience.. maybe if they kill you inside your mind you just end up in a vegetative state? i dont know, i like to theorize! third cryptid is my favorite, the atmosphere is just so, so heavy! you did an incredible job with the clock man, the constant sound of the clock is unnerving- this is the kind of horror i absolutely enjoy and what truly hooked me into making this long-ass unnecesary comment you did an incredible, incredible job man! congratulations, i felt my body tense all of those minutes just looking at our protagonist try to decipher the "riddle" he was given and just how slowly the clock man took the time of the things in the room revealing how all of these things are kind of alive, not just objects.. living things made out of common furniture.. i dont know if you like this kind of comparison but it reminds me of SCP-610 and Pan's Labyrinth! and once things began to speed up i just grabbed to my chair... my man, you are mythic at your work. I'm going to finish the video now but so far, i just wanted to give you my opinion and lot of support.. no matter how much time it takes, be it months.. please keep going and dont give up! your eye for horror is great. edit> i've finished watching the whole thing! it really surprised me to see our protagonist wasn't fully human-human.. i wont talk of the ending since that'd spoil stuff for others. there isn't anything else i could or should add, your work speaks by itself without any need of extra help. if you can catch basic details then you'll understand things just by using your eyes. i enjoyed this so much! and as i've said i cant wait for more of what you do, more of this, be it a sequel or just more of this universe you got going! and even if its just a one-shot, then.. no complains! "if it isnt broken, dont fix it" good things dont always need a continuation. but this whole comment is all i thought and all i had on my mind. thank you for reading this!.. and pardon the bad grammar/english, it isnt my main language.

I really appreciate this review. It genuinely means alot to see your compliments mixed with constructive criticism. Also SCP-610 is literally my favourite SCP. My jaw dropped when you made that comparison so thanks.

an absolute masterpiece, I look forward to anything else you may make in the future, and even if you make nothing more, this is still one of the best horror animations I have ever seen

Almost confused on how this only has so little views and you haven't even hit 5k Subs yet. Keep going like this and hopefully you'll make it big, because this is gold.

I would love to see a sequel maybe something else just like this one, style kepes me on edge, everything does. monsters are scary etc. really like the pyramid theme as layers of the mind and such, fears constantly nawing, kinda felt downhill after millipede imo

To me, this is an analogy of grieving. How it can destroy you inside if you let go of help from others, but you come out stronger than before, and let go.
