Alex, thanks for the walkthrough. Time passes quickly and your 6-month review is a brilliant illustration of how nature journaling can help us keep memories fresh, alive and relevant. Even when we have tough days and the journal sketching doesn't come easily, the memories are still created. I hope the next 6 months bring new discoveries, great walks and inspirational moments. ... eXPLoRe ... 🇨🇦
Thank you Ste! They really do, just going through the journal reminded me of the places visited and also the process creating it. It REALLY does work! 😃
I am just starting a nature journal in Quebec, Canada, without knowing how to start and you gave me, in this video, great inspiration. Thank you so much for your sharing! Lovely nature journal made! ❤🦋🌻
Wow!!! I absolutely love your work. Your last page with the roses is such a sweet tribute to your grandmother. I imagine she would love that. 💗So wonderful that you have made your own inks from plants. My "nature journal" consists of just notes of different animal and plant species I have seen, the weather, etc., but I'd like to make a nature journal with art as well. This is the 1st video I have seen of yours; I am so impressed and look forward to watching more. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work. ☮
Thank you! The stained pages give all your nature journaling a finished look. The background pulls together individual pieces and anchors them. Really clever.
Thank you, I have to admit I'm surprised how well that has worked out too. I'll be doing it a lot more in future, plus painting the pages with the inks initially is so relaxing!
A friend has just recommended you. I have spent hours looking at your videos. The artwork is absolutely beautiful. You’ve inspired me to keep a journal in 2023. I love the format of your videos including the interludes. Thank you for sharing your talent.
That's exactly what I want to do, inspire others to keep a journal 🤩 Thank you so much for commenting and watching my videos! Lots more to come in 2023 in the style with the art and nature interludes combined 😊
I have just found your channel and subscribed. I love how you talk about the processes of nature journaling. Also that you have demonstrated on your web page that you don’t have one journal but rather a sketch journal you take out that is not perfect but rather spontaneous. That your really detailed and refined artwork is in a separate journal and that you refer back to your field journal for reference. I have had a desire to start Nature journaling but have always felt like I can’t start as I can’t draw quick enough to capture the fleeting illusive wildlife before they move on. That the key take away of it’s ok to have basic sketch artwork and more journaling of descriptions in the field and then revisit in the studio these pages to create a more detailed account in a fancier journal is almost liberating to hear as an artist. I have dabbled in watercolour before and would really like to take the next step to move into Nature journaling and combining my love of nature and art to create journals to share and maybe inspire others in the community to get outdoors and immerse themselves in nature 💗
Thank you so much for your comment. Yeah, that's my #1 message, that it us the going out observing with pencil and paper that is most important of all. Best part of the process! I'll be showing that a lot more in my newer videos as I'm going to change the format a bit to show the full process more. More on that to come, but for now very happy to have inspired you 😊😊
It's so beautiful. I can't believe your puffin trip was three months ago! That time has gone so fast. I look forward to seeing what the next six brings you :)
That was quite lovely! Thanks you for sharing your beautiful journal..I enjoyed it very much and found a lot of inspiration for my own….which, I am embarrassed to say , I have been neglecting. Be well and stay safe! Greetings from Arizona.
I love lotus blu notebooks. I saw that one on her website this morning but it’s sold out. So pretty. Her books are so pretty but I never buy because my skills are elementary and I don’t want to ruin it with my art.
Her stuff sells so fast - I often see things I like but they are gone by the time I can afford them 😅 I understand your fears but you can do some great things with these that don't require "art" as such. I enjoyed staining all the pages in this book, and perhaps you could write in there. In the meantime, develop your art in another book that you can be less precious about 😁
