It's getting easier to maintain a positive attitude, I think most progress through this will be slow until I reach a point where I can handle more intense physical exercise, and then it's going to accelerate as I start properly exercising.
You and Sam are sorely missed on TBS as a viewer! And the Dent Sea Scrolls are some of my all time favorite detractor content! You just need some of that Seattle air and youll be feeling fine no problems!
Look on the bright side - you at least have a firm understanding of how sound works and didn't have to do a closet clean-out stream to discover it. Hoping for a speedy recovery with your bionic back.
I've had two spinal fusion surgeries in the last 15 years or so. You have my complete sympathy and understanding. They're not fun... Here's to a speedy recovery. Thanks for all you do. 🙏
I’m so sorry for your pain. Glad to see you’re on the mend. I have disc degeneration disease and got bulging L4 L5. Getting a nerve burn soon. I’m excited to have better pain management. Love your videos!
so, if your debilitating spinal injury could kindly bugger the F off, that would be nice. There is so much more fun and life to be had. A perfect Recovery for you Steve, may you never experience that kind of pain again. Get well soon
55:51 Who? Seriously though Steve, it's been an absolute pleasure, talking, collabing, just shooting the shit in general, all of it. You've done so much more than just make me laugh, you've helped me when pushing through my own troubles as well, you've helped me spread joy and laughter to others, and now with this you've made me cry too. There aren't enough words or points in the world to express how much it means to me to hear you say all that, I can only say that I look forward to whatever adventures we accidentally stumble into next.
We fucking love you Steve! Keep taking care of yourself and try not to beat yourself up too much about being on the shows. I know I, and I'm sure the others, totally understand you are focusing on healing and want nothing more than for you to get better and feel better. Take care :)
I'm a simple lady. I see a Steve of the Dead video I click it! I'm always glad to hear from you. I hope you continue to recover. I'm looking forward to your next video!
I'm so sorry, the pain must have been indescribable and unceasing. I hope this procedure brings you some extended releif from the worst symptoms. Thank you for sharing and thank you for finding the space to laugh at the world for and with us.
Thanks for the update Steve. It was great to see you. I guess it’s going to be a long process… it was a big operation. You’re looking well, so that means you must be doing everything right! Big ( gentle ) hugs and lots of love 🖤 xxx 😘
I have cried all the way through watching this. Although i have not suffered with a back injury i had both hips replaced last year. I suffered for 2 years with chronic pain and was on 10 spoons of morphine a day, it did not take away any of the pain. In april last yesr my other hip completely collapsed in 11 weeks.. Because my surgeon knew i didnt want to live anymore he put an extra thestre on to operate., i had right hip done in jan and left in may.I was bedbound for 10 months. I missed out on so much in that time.. My psychiatrist diagnosed me with adjustment disorder.. I am so upset you are going through all this pain and trying to put on a brave face. You are trying to stay strong and i truly admire you for that. I am currently awaiting on a potential ptsd diagnosis, due to two years of trauma.
Great psychological/sociological narrative of the illness trajectory. Especially appreciated vivid description of peripheral neuropathy. Hope this didn't take too much out of you. Very well done. ❤❤
I'm glad you're starting to get back to some normalcy dude, take all the time you need, back injuries are no joke just please be careful with opiates those are just as bad
I'm so sorry that you've gone through all of this. Praying for not only a swifter, stronger recovery, but that your spirits will stay high. Soon, this will be a distant memory, and you'll be laughing your butt off at our favorite clown. Big ups.
I can't even begin to imagine what kind of pain you've been through. However, seeing and hearing the progress you've made is awesome to hear. Keep up the great work.
Introduction: The streamer describes technical issues in recording the update and apologises for his lack of uploads recently. He goes on to describe his journey in recovery over the past 6 months and compares his recovery journey to a popular streamer with a 16 year legacy…. We then get a recap of how the back injury occurred. He does not mention previous unfair treatment by a leading aerospace company. He compares his back injury to a jelly donut but the food analogy ends there. Plans for future streams The streamer describes issues with appearing on other detractor streams and how tiring and difficult it is to appear for long times. Conclusion Steve legitimately has back issues, but, is making a good recovery. He is a legend. Get well soon Steve! Much love x
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I can't imagine how you've endured, but you are incredibly strong to have done so! It'll be great to see you back to form, and making the videos we all enjoy. But take it easy on yourself, and all the very best with your recovery! 👍🏻
Don't give up, man. It's a long road and may be difficult, but there's a lot of people out there who appreciate you, including me. Take your time. Grande ups.
Every step is a milestone Steve. Every Lift an achievement Every bend is a reason to celebrate. You are strong and will only get stronger. Wishing you the best brother.
Your pupils are so dilated (that is the right word yeah) and... Lol. I was reading that has something to do with cognitive abilities and I'm just sitting here like "Wow...". Two years is suchhhh a long time mate. I feel for you when I hear that. I can see how that must be really, really frustrating. Wow. That is a lot for the nerve issues. That's neuropathy? Oh my god. Wow. The story about sawing and the fingertips. I too understand the dark thoughts and thinking "yeah that would solve everything." I am extremely frustrated because I want to -- that must have been very, very hard for you. The feeling of "look how far I've fallen." Sounds like less bad days. That will have a cuumulative effect for you. You deserve all the happiness in the world steve. The sincerity and honesty in your voice is unquestionable in my mind.
I didn't know you until the DSP interview on sidescrollers and I went to the rabbit hole from there and find a awesome person here. Is good to hear you are doing well Steve! Big ups!
I had been misdiagnosed 5 years ago but suffered with pain over 45 years as a truck driver. I did everything they recommended and later diagnosed myself with surgeon agreeing it's Anchroditus. My lower was destroyed by some trauma as a kid I was told with the amount of calcification on discs affected. L2-S2. It starting affecting my leg and bladder 4 years ago and now use a wheelchair primarily due to pain plus weakness. My bladder stopped working. It's a unrecoverable disease different than just"bulging disc" because it affects whole nervous system includes brain. Causes spinal cord fluid leakage into body and brain causing horrendous headaches and no balance. My spinal cord nerves are hardening up inside causing nerve roots to die. Best of luck mate. 5:11
Thank you for telling us how your healing journey has been going. I've personally been worried about you Steve, so I'm glad for the updates! I've been watching you long before TBS was a thing. I'm looking forward to when you feel well enough to make your own vids more often and for podcast shenanigans. I've always been a fan of long videos with analytical observations and critics, and Phil is just a fascinating case study. As the TBS intro always says, get well soon man!
Hopefully you have a full recovery from your spinal cord surgery and have a great rest, we'll still be here (me included with my TiHYDPs and continued roasting of the Gout Lord himself). ^_^
It took 10 months for the trauma to kick in. I want to say if you get any symptoms that may suggest ptsd please seek help. People who have not been through chronic pain will never understand how it feels. some of the comments on here are awful.I wish i could give you a big hug. Keep plodding on Steve and stay strong. xx
All the best with your recovery. My mum had her hip replaced back at the start of the year so I understand where you're coming from regarding the recovery time and being worse off post surgery. Just take your time. And £2.50 for a lucozade?! Outrageous!
So good to see you sitting. That was a long hard road. It's frustrating not being able to move like normal for a long time. I'm going to get a knee replacement in august, my 4th operation in 5 years. I hope I this time can get on with my life. I just now realized what was behind you.... great idea. I cringe daily by the way he says "a"..... and the fact, that he substitute other letters with "a". Caahhhmaaaahhhhhn - (come on), and I waaaahhhh - (I want).
Sreve so glad you shared your story. I often wondered how you were getting along..(Talk about going through the mill) Just think of it as a learning experience, you will not forget and can understand more about the human body and mental state how it all works. This will all be behind you one day and in the future you will think of it a short time healing in the sceme of things. Your such a strong resilient man you've got this! Look forward to seeing you back with Scott one day too. Take it easy be patient, remember Rome was notg built in a day ❤
I don’t have the time to watch right now (working) but I will be watching it tonight! Hope you’re doing better man! As a back injury style person myself, I cannot stress how important exercise and stretching is for repairing your back 🙏 push through the pain brother, you got this
My Grandma had a ruptured herniated disk and unfortunately couldn't overcome the complications of surgery at her age. I'm glad to hear you're in better health. Glad to hear you're getting through it.
I'm so sorry to hear that, I'm incredibly lucky that I'm still at an age where I can recover enough, and speaking to some of the older people on the ward about what they were going through really hammered that home for me. Much love and sympathy to you and yours.
Heres to steve 🍻🍻 get well soon man , you can tell phil doesnt have any sort of injury if it were serious hed have a 30hr stream its got to be his fucked up posture that ruined him.
I had a similar situation. But, it turned out to be a genetic issue they hadnt seen before. I was diagnosed with more than a dozen viruses/infections/diseases. Last was cancer in my spine. Was given a few months to live. I told the docs i dont have cancer and the spinal biopsy showed no cancer and no infections. I actually had none of what i showed symptoms of. And this is why i refuse to date anyone. Not going to put anyone through the shit im going through.
Same here man, social life on pause at the moment because it'd be really unfair to dump this onto someone else, plus I can barely get out there to meet them in the first place!
You had a good point about remembering exactly when your back injury happened. I also remember my first, maybe not the date but the exact scenario. To shorthand the story... I was 17, my back started acting up really badly during the practice before the 2nd last game of our regular season, by halfway through the practice I hurt so bad I had to lay on my stomach. A few weeks later after a misdiagnosis (the doctor kept calling it mechanical pain) and I found out I had a herniated disc. You'd think Phil would remember it if he had a debilitating injury but nah, he just doesn't want to admit he had mechanical pain and inflammation from being a big fat guy and sitting down all the time with no exercise. I also remember the exact scenario that lead to my 2nd herniated disc but that's just rambling. Glad you're looking like yourself Steve, missed ya
Yeah, spoilers for my video about his back, but it's really clear his back injury was nowhere near as severe as he portrays it. You can see how he adds new information throughout the retellings as the situation warrants it and not because it's a genuine part of his recollection of an actual event. I'm never forgetting those dates, those dates changed my life, you don't forget shit like that.
And now's the part where I get to act all smug and remind the guy who was in a band of the importance of the mic check. This is the highlight of my life, and I will take it to my grave. USA! USA! USA!🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I had a problem after my lac surgery it left me completely paralyzed from waist down for 3 and a half weeks. At first nobody could understand why but later when I found my disease a few months later looking into this. It says the worst thing I could have done is any surgery of my back. Because I have a viral infection in my back permanently from getting hashimotos disease(low thyroid) causing super long lasting inflammation. Also foods affect this greatly and so avoid processed foods, sugar other than fruit, artificial dyes/colors, no flavored beverages with chemicals, and natural free range meat and dairy. 11:25
While there are gaps on the doses for the Morphine being administered, and this was in a controlled environment, I would hope depending on your current pain levels that you are being careful on what you are using since there is an addictive nature to it. Not to imply but it was something my father was terribly afraid of during his stay at hospital and his after care from a car wreck, he was adamant on avoiding the use of Morphine. My 2 cents of just being worried about the recovery process since this is not something I would imagine will just resolve within 6-12 months but something that will change you going forward and finding a new normal.
Yeah, I should probably have been a bit clearer about this. The first few days on the ward I was taking what I could because the pain was just that severe, but following the second operation the dose was gradually decreased before I was discharged, and since then I've only ever lowered the strength and frequency of the morphine I've been taking. I'm now at 2mls of 5mg strength, three times a day, and I doubt I'd still be taking it if it weren't for the nerve issues. It's serious shit and I don't want to be on it any longer than I have to be.
Take all the time you need. You're certainly missed, but your long term health is a lot more important. Also, I've been there. It was my leg, but I know how it feels to be in physical therapy and realize how week you've become. It sucks, but it eventually gets better. It takes a while, but it does eventually happen.
I definitely didn't anticipate how frustrating recovery would be, but I am getting better at remembering that I will get there eventually nowadays. That period between six weeks after being discharged until around late last month where I was constantly telling myself I should be further along was very difficult to deal with, but seeing the specialist really helped put everything into perspective, and I think I'll be much better at being realistic about things from now on.
@@ArchangelSteve Bet you're feeling really silly now though. Could have just been lifting your self up in your chair a few seconds and your spine would have just deherniated, but you just had to go and get surgery and recover the long way. In all seriousness though, it's good to know you're doing better. Both mentally and physically.
Steve just jealous he isn’t half the man that Phil is; if it were Phil he would have power walked out of that hospital around a week after the first surgery and been back on stream making money for his family. Detractors stay felted. (Hope you get better soon man)
You've been sorely missed, but make sure you take care of yourself. People will understand if you get a twingle and suddenly "it time go" for you that day.
