I'm the last one left in my class.3 day away. But a couple people that may have the virus unbeknownst to me a couple days ago not good and I'm the last one standing so to speak boy I hope I can get out with and not get sidetracked if it's another week I have to sit here and I guess I'm probably going to have to sit here and wait until this quarantine or whatever this thing is and then test again you got to do what I got to do I didn't get here just to give up a plan to move forward but if I have to stay a week so be it if whatever I got to do to get this job done is what I got to do but so far great company Win Lose or Draw I got some experience and knowledge that I didn't have before that's what I can say now versus hoping I do have a little bit more knowledge than I used to. I'm going to in Drive for dry van. I can actually back up without destroying the tractor-trailer or vehicle I'm proud of that might take me a little while to get where I need to go but nothing's getting damaged not running over cones. I just hope I did not catch whatever is going on here but if anything I'll probably be studying pre-trip and be ready for the test whenever that might be.
Starting training with Roehl in a couple of weeks you have made the decision to go with Roehl a easy one. Looking forward to begin training and becoming a truck driver!
Hi Bob. I start in Gary for the pd cdl training on the 19th of this month. looking forward to it. Ive traveled the past 5 years welding, made good money but it is a lot of things to deal with people wise, new people at each project, mis-organization etc. Looking forward to having less stress, less physical demand on my body as well. Hope I get a trainer as committed as you are, if I dont get you LOL.
Veey nice Chris!! Yes, once you get past training, the job can be very relaxing with mile upon mile of pure enjoyment and adventure! Let me know how things go and don't hesitate to contact me here should you need help or just want to chat.
Looking to start training Feb 7, 2022 in Conley Ga. This will be my first job since retiring from another profession, however obtained my class A-CDL 21 year’s ago.
I quit Roehl. Didn't even make it off the trainer truck. My trainer didn't take a shower for 5 days and didn't go to loves since we get 60 free showers so I had to pay for 2 showers. Ask for another trainer and before I got on my new trainers truck I asked him do you take showers and am I going to be able to take free showers. He said probably not and I said to Roehl good by. I'm now with Schneider bulk tanker and they paid off my GYCLD training bill $7000.00 and gave me $3000.00 paid out over one year. Not sure why these guys are afraid of showers. If you can trip plan gas stops, picking up dropping off, then you should be able to trip plan a shower every day. I'm glad I trained in Gary because Derrick my trainer in Gary was the best. To bad they don't have more over the road trainers like him. When you get your first student let him take showers and don't be a ass like the trainers I had. Anyway, good to see you on RU-vid again.
That's very disappointing to hear Drew. We are showering just fine without even planning it......Love's truck stops are everywhere. I hope you were able to tell Roehl about your training experience. Hope to see you out on the road some day.
@@BullseyeBob Oh I did , they pretty much laughed in my face and that's why I left. I'm 50 yrs old and my experience is if they treat you like that now over a shower, how are they going to treat you in the future. I like doing tanker better anyway. No tarps, chains or being in the elements for no longer than 10 minutes. Plus after this year is up way better paying job prospects in the futute and home daily.
@@crashnburn586 Yeah, flatbed isn't for everyone that's for sure. But it wasn't Roehl that treated you that way, it was your trainer(s). Some have issues no doubt. It's too bad you didn't get a trainer that cared more.
@@BullseyeBob I been watching alot of videos asking alot different people questions I been studying cause I never drove a truck before so I'm making sure I'm prepared lol. Without truckers nothing would get done and I wanna be apart of it.
Hi brother air gunner from all us Michiganders ! Glad to see your doing good . Can't wait to see your next shooting video . Good luck to you and your family . "Deeds not words"
Hi AirGunner, I applied to Roehl transport and got excepted. Now I’m about done with my first week of GYCDL. Second week starts on Monday, very excited. I’m going to go into refeer division. I hoped you could do my over the road training.
@@mrcoolstl314 Give it your 100% effort and make sure you have an understanding of why things didn't turn out right during a back so you can keep making a little progress each time.
“I think if there were more guys with high miles experience ready to step up and train new drivers we’d have more experienced trainers” or something to that effect. I think it’s more like, “…if carriers paid their trainers better….etc etc.” No offense brother, but most good paying carriers won’t even hire someone to DRIVE with only 6 months experience…that pretty much says it all. All the best though…
Bob O you are ready and qualified to do the training, no doubt to me. It is your life experience that will make you unique for training new drivers. Good luck brother! You are awesome!
Do you get to see the dancing colourful night sky, while your out in the mountains? Enjoy your instructing, smooth as she goes in a auto, I would of thought 👍🇬🇧
AirGunner Bob_O Gary, IN. I’m a CDL holder. They told me I’d be set up with a trainer on Friday of next week. Wish I could get you. You seem very knowledgeable
Roehl is a great company for rookies, very safe and will train you right! After your 1 year, run away. I started with this company and made 280-430 a week no bullshit.... they’ll keep you 100 miles from home unpaid on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Stay in the northeast and if you do quit make sure you have money saved up to pay your own way back, because you’ll park the minute you say you quit and make you leave the truck right then with no help. Just FYI ya be safe
Hey man, are you from Marquette? That's awesome. I've been looking into Roehl mainly because I want to move to Iron Mountain and they seem to be the only big company with a terminal in the yoop.
AGB! Thanks for posting your videos. I friend of mine is now driving for the company. I am looking to start a new chapter. However, when I give my zip code it says they are not hiring. When I give the next town over zip code it will allow me to apply. Is there anyone to talk to possibly? I live in FL near AL. It's the AL zip codes that work.
Florida is tough as the company cannot guarantee hometime due to irregular freight lines down there......thats what I was told. Best to call a recruiter and explain your situation.
Tarping is not necessarily that hard but it can be time consuming. Most shippers have a tarping station and require us to use fall protection such as cables and harnesses, which make tarping easier and safer.
Quick question as you're on the toll road... Do you have to prepay the tools and then get reimbursed or do y'all have ezpass and the like provided by ROEHL?
You have to satisfy the mileage agreement so however many miles you agreed to drive solo once you get that done then you are free to leave without owing Roehl anything.
You’re a student yourself. Give yourself a couple years at least. You got the blind leading the blind. Just remember whatever that student gets the truck into you have to be able to get it out.
It doesn't take much experience to be able to give a new driver some proper guidance and steer them down the path toward being a safe driver. As I said in the video, if enough more experienced drivers would step up and do this, the lesser experienced drivers wouldn't be asked to do it.
I always get some flack coming back into the US! Makes no sense to me! British Columbia is the easiest crossing out of them all. I've been everywhere.😏
I asked a few weeks back. It's one of the things you're eligible for after 6 months. I dont think it's just an experience thing......I think you must have a good performance record as well.
Hi Luz. Mostly automatics now but there are still a few manuals in the training fleet. If you want to learn and test in a manual, make sure you request it when you speak with the recruiter.
Are you a clean person? Do you smoke? Sorry for being so straight to the point 😆 but before referring you as a trainer I need to know if we would be a good team on the road. I am giving my thoughts about the program and want to be OTR. But I confess I am concerned about the sharing truck space while training. I am very clean, non smoker, no noise, etc... I live a very healthy lifestyle.
Hey, you live in Michigan right? So do i. I'm 14 years old and ive been watching your videos for awhile now, I'm a huge fan. Since we both live in Michigan I was curious if I could come pest bird hunting with you? This might sound creepy or weird but I would be so happy. I've been wanting to get permissions at farms n stuff lately but nobody will drive me there or help me ask some farmers. I would litterally pay you all I got it would mean the world to me
You need to speak with a recruiter.. hometime will be dictated by what fleet you're assigned to. OTR drivers spend 11 to 14 days out and 3 days home. Dedicated accounts are normally home every weekend. There are some schedules that are 4 on, 3 off, it depends which assignment you get.
