This episode goes over several "realistic" trades with the Jazz, Raptors, Cavaliers, Knicks, Hawks and Trail Blazers, based on reports that those teams are either wanting to move up in the draft or get rid of specific players.
Also, it looks at the two games from the 2023-24 season where the Grizzlies' guards and wings were completely healthy to try and get clues for the rotation next year, and talks about the passing of Jerry West.

I'd love to pick up Looney, and I don't think he's really declining. I just don't think the Warriors could figure out how to use him in their system. But if you look at last season's per 36 stats, they're basically on par with the two seasons prior to it. Plus, he's a lot more durable than people give him credit for. Last season he played 74 games, and in the two seasons prior to that he played in every single game. Basically Iron Man compared to this Grizzlies roster.

Everyone needs to pump the breaks on these trade ideas. The Raptors are not giving up Poeltl + 2 picks for the number 9 pick in a weak draft. Chances are that Poeltl is the best asset in that trade, and Masai is not about to trade 2 picks along with him to get a project rookie who might be a bust in 2/3 seasons. There are no stars in this draft. Teams will be lucky to get a Jakob Poeltl type player from this draft. He’s a sure thing, pick 9 is absolutely not.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s impossible that masai and bobby is willing to trade a starting center and 2 picks for the 9th pick

I'd do jacob and 31st for 9th pick and Luke kennard

Raptors and Collins trade are the most interesting. If Jazz are willing to add assets to rid themselves of Collins then i am going with that one. Collins+Jaren+BC would be a heckuva Top 3 Big rotation. Then you can just draft Edey or some other Behemoth to be the Bruiser.

I do that Collins trade in a heartbeat. Let Pippen be the 3rd PG. snag a few nice players in the draft. Let Collins run with Ja. Would make for a fun offseason & reg season

My thinking has evolved, and so too should everybody else's. The way I look at it, Jarrett Allen is too health-conscious and can't be depended on when hurt in the playoffs. Nic Claxton might cost too much to acquire, is not a good free throw shooter, and there is some concern as to whether he can stand up to other heavy bigs such as Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic. Looney is getting older, and while Goga could be a great fit, there is still some question of consistency in performance. Additionally, they would still need another big for insurance purposes. Jaren's game just doesn't fit a center's game because he doesn't set screens and is not a great rebounder. Before exploring getting that extra big, let's consider Dalton Knecht. Dalton Knecht can get the Grizzlies to their goal of winning a championship, but the question remains: how do you fill the void due to the lack of centers? Let's explore some other center options, mainly the two biggest ones in the draft: Donovan Clingan and Zach Edey. Let's start with Donovan Clingan, who could potentially be a good fit, but the weaknesses are there. Clingan is not a good free throw shooter, and he is also not a great offensive player. There is, however, Zach Edey, who is a good shooter and has better rebound numbers than Clingan. Edey recorded faster speeds than Clingan at the NBA Combine. When the two faced each other in the NCAA Finals, Edey dominated Clingan. Clingan benefited from the system he was in, while Edey was the most dominant player in college last season-a leader who has shown he can endure playing through pain and the number one reason his team made the Finals! Furthermore, Edey is the only player in NCAA history to average at least 25.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 assists per game. He swept all six major National Player of the Year awards for the second straight year, becoming the first player since UCLA's Bill Walton (1972, 1973) to do that. Therefore, I think Edey has proven himself. Some might say they don't think Edey's game will translate to the NBA, but a lot of people have been wrong in the past. They were wrong when they drafted James Wiseman at number two; that guy shouldn't have been the number two draft pick in 2020. Some were wrong about Luka Doncic, saying what he was doing in the EuroLeague wouldn't translate over to the NBA. Dallas did not listen to that and even moved up in the draft to get Doncic. Now look, he is in the NBA Finals this year. The Grizzlies need to draft Zach Edey and add some backup insurance such as Goga Bitadze, whose contract doesn't cost that much and is very serviceable. Additionally, in the absence of Ja, the Grizzlies have evolved in their shooting ability. The team won't have to worry about Dillon Brooks shooting them out of a game. Vince Williams Jr. and "GG" have stepped up, so they no longer have to worry that Desmond Bane and Luke Kennard are the only scoring options during a game. Furthermore, some other benefits that Edey can provide are that he is ambidextrous, tall at 7'4", and could prove to be unstoppable at the NBA level due to his hook shot. Not many players are strong enough to defend it, and if they foul him, he can still make free throws. It seems obvious after doing some homework that the Grizzlies need to draft Zach Edey. If they need to make a trade to pick him, whether that be for Smart, Kennard, Clarke, or Aldama, they should explore it. Zach Edey is the correct guy for the Grizzlies!

Hmm... I honestly want our next center to be averaging 8 RPG minimum. >I think we watch this space on Clint Capela and the Hawks movements >I worry about Jarrett Allen and his toughness >Ivica Zubac from the Clippers would be interesting >I'm staying away of Drummond, cant hit a FT and tends to fall apart come Playoffs >I'd welcome Valanciunas back in a second but where the bridges burned in the Adams trade, plus what does that next contract look like? >John Collins, How's the hand looking? I also like he can switch to PF if needed >Kep an eye on Houston and Jabari Smith, you never know? Nick Richards in Charlotte might be interesting 8 rebs in 26mins not bad

Collins is not a center. Dont need an undersized dude trying to play center we need a traditional big with real SIZE! Damn i miss Steve O

@Himji-Winsmoke I hear you. I've just seen enough of the undersized none traditional center after losing Adams. Xavier Tillman was the last straw for me. Need real size at the center position. Some teams you can get away with it but we just need to lock up the true Adams replacement. Same size and at least somewhat similar skill set.

Robert Williams is not an NBA player. He doesn’t play games. Get him off any list ever for the Grizzlies.

Robert Williams at best is a neutral contract, no way you downgrade the lottery pick for him without some additional assets coming our way. We would need 34 without sending out 39 and a few future 2nds on top. Then we could try to bundle 34/39 and move into the late 1st.
