With Katherine Howard, it's said that the night before her execution, she asked for a block so that she could practice how to lay her head down to be chopped off. She was anywhere between 15 and 17 when she married Henry who was 49, and couldn't have been older than 20 when she died, since the marriage didn't last for very long before he had her beheaded. Of all the queens, her life was the shorted and arguably the saddest of them.
Henry was king... a feudal tyrant. You couldn't say no to the king. If he wanted you and especially if you were one of his subjects, then that was it, he got you. It's not fair. But... he could have many bastards and easily get away with it. However, as the Queen, whatever comes out of her could very well have become king some day. As such, she was expected to remain faithful no matter what. Hence...when Henry thought she was being unfaithful to him, she lost her head. To me Howard wins and gets to lead the band. From a very young age she was used and abused. ALL her life all she ever wanted was to be loved and find a true love. Instead...she was ordered by the king to marry him and lost her head for just wanting to be loved.
Actually, many believe that she didn't even make it to twenty before being beheaded. It's so unbearably sad that she wasn't even an adult when 99% of her abuse happened.

Katherine Howard is definitly one of the most tragic ones, becasue she just never got a chance at life. She was 20 at most when she was beheaded (accounts about her birthdate differ slightly, she may have been as young as 18) But she was just abused throughout her life and paid the price for being beutiful in a world where men hold all the power
I think you’re the first person I’ve seen who wasn’t swayed by the pop music. You recognized how horrible her life was. The lyrics definitely glanced over the true ages of all those people. Kathrine Howard was around 20 when she was beheaded. Henry was 51 when she was executed.
You need to react to the perfomances all of this songs on stage, is a such a full emotion. For me see Samantha Pauly interpreting this especif song is so heartbroken. The next song I Don't need your love is my favorite 😭❤️can't wait to see you react, i always cry listening.

As much as I love the OG British cast, since the Broadway live recording came out it's the only one I've been listening to. Samantha Pauly's version of this song really shows the emotion as opposed to the general pop song vibe. It makes me cry almost every time I listen, especially when it's accompanied by the live visuals.
Its also interesting because katherine howard and anne boleyn were actually first cousin's so henry actually kept it in the family by marrying and beheading them both
No, Katherine was beheaded in 1541, Thomas Culpeper wasn't executed until 1542 along with Francis dereham, Thomas cromwell was executed the same day as Katherine married Henry (also during his 36 year reign, Henry caused between 57 and 73 thousand executions.)

@@justarandomfangirl7658 Catherine Parr's song is another kick ass song. And the finale will have you wanting to dance. If you ever get the chance to see Six live do. I've seen it on RU-vid and was lucky enough to see it live in August the energy of seeing it live is out of the world. Other than the great music I love Six because they nailed the history. The things they reference in the songs and the dialog are all stuff that really happened. It made this Tudor nerd really happy. 😊
