My 2015 Diavel is the same in Sport Mode. You have to incredibly smooth with throttle management. I just run in Touring Mode to mitigate the hair-trigger response in Sport.
This is not only on your bike, the throttle topic is also on my bike however as you said, if you get used to it, your right hand will make the job to get the situation better. Btw in touring mode it’s definitely not comparable
Your clanking and shuttering (on/off issue) is because your chain is out of adjustment. Also, you gotta know what you are buying before complaining about things as compared to other bikes. The PP is no touring old man machine like the GS and other Multi's, it is a performance machine so the windshield is for performance. Now, you can make it more setup for touring with a touring wind screen, taller seat, risers etc. I have done all of those things and just did a mega ride with a buddy on a GS adventure......he complained a lot more than me. So, get your chain adjusted, pump your tires to 38-40lbs to make low speed easier but as I write this I am still listening to your vid. I just rode the tail of the dragon and it is the tightest twisties you can find and the PP was phenomenal. It out ran many sport bikes because it corners so well and moves side to side faster than any bike I have ridden.....sounds like you have a bike with issues because literally none of what you have said is an issue with my bike or two other buddies bikes......take it to your dealer and you might be surprised. Now the one thing that is an issue is the unsteady throttle and that is due to the emissions canister.......no word on a fix yet, check out Rembo's channel, I think he covers a fix for that
Your jerkiness issue sounds like your chain is loose to be honest. Mine wasn't tight from the dealer and they told me it was within spec, guess they don't know how to measure slack properly on it. You can also add a throttle spacer to remove the initial dead travel. Stock screen is awful indeed, I have a cncracing carbon one and a calsci large windscreen. I can get 200 miles on a tank when I try to be efficient and do highway thanks to cruise control. 200 rear kind of helped the twitchiness, so do the stiffer suspension settings. Would be nice to have a screen with android auto/carplay instead of crapati connect and sygic. No solve for being too big and heavy really. I just try to avoid super tight roads that I loved on my supermoto and lotus Elise. I probably warned you about them things before. You can have my panniers, I still haven't used them, love the top box daily, had to undelete my passenger pegs for the panniers which was annoying. Only got them because they were in a package with heated grips. Just like the center stand that I never installed.
Can confirm. SFV4s chain slack from dealer. I tightened (TINY turn with c spanner) and problem gone. All Ducs, in first gear from get go or riding through town you need to feather the clutch. They prefer to be above 5k rpm (at least the v4 does) .
@@xodas. also my bloody dipped headlights aren’t …. Well, dipped! Did you alter yours while you had it? I see in the manual how to do it, but of course no mention of how to remove the head fairing 🤷♂️
Not feeling the throttle twitchiness. In fact--I sought aftermarket tuning to increase the drive at small throttle openings--coming from a KTM Supeduke GT--mind you. Try the chain tightening tip. Top heavy: Go try a BMW S1000XR in dealership. FEELS 100-pounds heavier, tipping it off the side stand.
