Thats happened so maney time to me too Its annoying that people question about holding things close to see . I still can't see with glasses and on top of that I need two different types if glasses. What also hurts is when people say you don't look blind or maybe even walk like your blind .

I have experienced some of these things too. In school I have been asked how many fingers do I see and also why don't I get surgery for and I've had to explain that not everybody can benefit from surgery. I really like the video it's very educational and people can learn a lot from it. Have a great day.

I have Usher's and have heard all 6 as well..but THE most annoying one I get is.."You don't look blind". 🙄

I have heard and encountered all of these things too. I also hear “so how can you be blind and still see” or “I could never be blind” ... thanks for putting awareness out there with this video ♥️

Oh man, this was fantastic! It's crazy how we as blind and visually impaired people often times share the same experiences, even when living in different areas of the world! I have experienced every single one of these and even new number two and number one before you set them! In fact, I recorded a video on Monday that will come out on Saturday and in the video I make a joke about people asking us how many fingers there holding up! Great video and keep them coming!

For sure! In the future, I will probably make videos about things that are a bit more specific to my culture, but there are definitely more similarities than differences!

Omg one of my close friends has said number 1 to me. That they couldn't do it and would rather be dead... like what am I supposed to freaking feel when you say that? UGH. I confronted them the last time they said it cuz it just makes me feel worse about my situation and isn't helpful at all. It's also really upsetting to see when other blind people actually feel that way and share it on forums like reddit. And number 6 also irritates me cuz yeah I don't feel inspirational or strong a lot of the time. Plus sometimes people praise you for literally just existing LOL. Like I've been praised during mobility lessons, just walking down the street.... Like I'm literally just walking... I guess they assume I can't see at all cuz I wear sunglasses out doors but idk I find it really silly.

Another thing we run into a lot is the 'oh she's blind? Let me try to prove you wrong" doctors. You know the type...when they meet the visually impaired child and immediately challenge whether they are by doing some lame quick test (never fails to be something our daughter in particular uses 1 of her 2 null points to see well), and say "oh! She can see it!" basically for no reason other than to make us look like we're exaggerating or something. Yeah, I don't think hypochondriac parents pull the blind card too often

Wow... I never encountered that, but... wow! I sometimes encounter dramatic doctors who "tut, tut, tut" and shake their heads after testing my eyes.

Not kidding when I say this is the best video I've watched in a long time. 5, 4 & 2 all made me genuinely laugh out loud just because I too have heard all of these said to me personally. Agreed with every word you said in this video and when you cut to the voice with "i'd rather be dead than blind" it killed me. Nice one thanks for this, couldn't have said it better myself.

I cannot stand it when I am standing right there and a sales worker, waitstaff, pick anyone / career. looks at some one I am with and asks. I s he alright? GRRRR! I often get annoyed and reply. He is fine and you can fecken ask HIM!. I have gotten all the ones you mentioned, and could go on for days about the unintended, and deliberate Things said and done. Smh. When I could see I never did or said those things. "Sigh" I find it sad.

The one thing that has frustrated me recently is people constantly making jokes about safety pins 🧷 in front of me lol! Every time I’m around these people, they say things like: Shall I put a safety pin on you? Or, I’m going to pray that you get married to a guy that tells you to wear clothes that involve safety pins etc. And that really hurts me coz they don’t get the fact that I’ve got aichmophobia and they don’t even bother to think before they speak😠😠😠 It’s like they don’t care that I got poked by one really badly and nearly ended up in hospital.

That's so weird and annoying...! What's the deal with the safety pin nonsense? I don't get it actually... Is that a reference to something?

Number 5 and number 2 are the most annoying ones is some of the reasons why I hate/dislike my eyes LIKE HELLO I DIDN’T CHOOSE TO HAVE THESE EYES the other reason why I hate/dislike my eyes is because I’ll probably never drive car and I’ve always wanted to drive a car🙁 but thank you this video helped a lot

A question I use to get alot is "Why are you paying so much for your glasses??? Why don't you go to this other place and get 2 pairs for 120 dollars! I get 4 alot. Unfortunately I have actually said number one myself, everything in my life is visual and I'm a visual artist. As I've gotten older my sight is getting worse and worse and am terrified of my sight getting to bad to work.

Right??? We get 'suggested' to "get her some glasses, or do they not work" lol If they worked, the $500 worth of glasses we've invested in would be on her face

In my case, #4 and #5 are the most popular questions people asking me. And i really really hate to answer becauss its a long story and what do they care.. Am i right or am i right? Lol

Hey I would be blind too without my glasses. You’re lucky, you could if been totally blind. Over melodic voice you know like talking to a child, overly impressed by simple everyday accomplishments. But none of these compare to the stuff that people do not say who just happen to be in positions of hiring and other gatekeeper positions. How’s that 70+% unemployment/ underemployment thing treating us all?
