Dj ASHBA - Lead Guitarist of Guns N' Roses and Sixx:A.M. gives you an in-depth guitar lesson on the new mega hit by Sixx:A.M. - Lies Of The Beautiful People.
I'm a new fan, but I think the thing I love the most about what I've seen is the heart and soul that goes into what you decide to play, and the way you really make a guitar sing.. using all of the tone and effects you can incorporate tastefully into your music. Awesome..
that sustain note..kicked ass...i had to stop the video just to say NICE!!!!!!!!!! Love the crunchy sound to the opening riff.... I have been a Motley Crue fan all my life and a GNR, but now im an ILLINOIS ASHBA FAN!
d.j, thank you for sharing your "guitar stuff".. it is a great you pass on your lesson's.. i do not recall, EVER.. a guitar player in my 20 yrs of playing showing there licks when they are the top of there game... btw love the crisp sound of new strings...many thanks and much love... eros
Thanks for sharing your stuff!! It's amazing you show your fans how to play your songs! Love this song! One of my favorites and that freakin sustain!! Lol love it!!! Keep rocking man
Wow!!! I can't see your fingers in the Solo - Section 4! Ha! What a wonderful musician you are....thanks for the tutorial. Never die, please! We love you. Kisses from Argentina ;)
heard this song the other week when i was working and thought it was good, but then heard it yesterday and was like wow this is amazing !! great tune, and as a fellow guitarist that is one amazing solo !!!
@buttsniffjackwagon1 By having his volume way up and using the sound waves of his cab to vibrate the string. Notice how he keeps the rest of the strings muted with is right hand, otherwise they would ring too. You can also see him shaking the guitar and using a quick vibrato to keep it moving. Sometimes I'll even knee the back of my guitar to keep the string vibrating.
DJ I'm a big fan of yours not and had the chance to see you live with GN'R in Canada and can't get over how down to earth and cool you are with your fans :) keep on rocking out! Hope to see you live again soon.
i can name two... Dj Ashba and jake pitts from bvb. i love both bands. actually all three gnr, sixx am and bvb. dj ashba is one of the people who inspired me to play guitar. actually he is the one person who inspired me to play... -Sixx A.M. rocks- not hating... just answering your question. thankyou dj, this has helped me alot. so much for by ear.
man this is a very good song, very good lesson and great new album you are my favorite guitar player i wait to see you soon in Venezuela with GnR or with Sixx A.M PEACE
How in the world do you get so much gain, ive tried everything and i cant quite get as much gain as you can, awesome song by awesome people with an awesome story, doesn't get any better than that!!!! Rock on and I cannot wait for the next album!!!
i looked for a video like this the first moment i heard/fell in love with this track. you rock dude, and thanks for the awesome vid. couldnt have figured out the solo without this vid.now just gotta get my pinkie to catch up with the rest of my fingers! XD much love.
DJ, idk how many comments u actually check man, but either way I want to thank u for being another inspiration to me to play music and guitar. i'm still just a teenager playing as loud as possible out of his garage with a basic line 6 amp, but I thank u for making me aspire to one day become something bigger. best of luck, man. o, and the new album-all I can say is it's nice to take a breath of fresh air after having so much trouble finding new material that's really worth listening to. -Nick
Sweeet!! It's not a problem learning to play the song, actually it's not hard, the hard part is the alternate picking on the fast part of the solo! I always miss notes here and there! and holding the last note as long as you do is freakin' incredible, I don't have a chance! anyway, awesome Sixx:A.M. records, I really can't wait for the next one!!! :)
lol!! lil' creep at about 0:37, jajaja!! anyways I love the song lies of the beautiful people its such a great song and i think its great that DJ is teaching us how to play it. DJ you rock!!!
@DelPellezin pretty sure it had something to do with the waw like somebody else said but the les paul deffinently was there but i think it was the waw and the way he exicuted the vibrato that made it last so long
you gotta love him.... i just wish that axle would push things along a bit faster and let dj do his thing on a new guns n roses album and show the the world that gnr are not dead and berried ..and turn some heads at the same time
How did you get that crazy sustain at the beginning after you drop your slide? You are at a fairly low volume (the sound o the slide hitting the floor is louder than the guitar). Thanks, brother.
Is it in Drop D? Because I can't understand how Ashba is playing the chorus riff high up in the neck and not like the opening riff (which begins with open D chord)
You truly are an inspiration DJ, your playing is amazing and thanks very much for doing this video, gives me chance to learn one of my favourite songs of the year! Any chance you could do Live Forever? My favourite from the album!! Cheers DJ all the way from New Zealand!
do you use the waw on the record it sounds like it, and thank you so much DJ you have become one of my biggest inspirations on the guitar and in music in general i love your soloing style and the cool things you do like use a slide in rock 0.o it was awsome and aside from that your riffage is my favorate parts thanks for showing us the fans how you play these songs they really help me ALOT THANK YOU!!!!!!:)
u r sick man... that is the shit. d/l it last night, bout grab my guitar and follow your steps. i had a good idea where i was going with this but a few things slipped my mind once i saw your version. thanks man
@buttsniffjackwagon1 He's using the FEEDBACK to get like endless sustane, you can do that with every electric guitar just with the right amount of VOLUME, TREBLE and GAIN and by also holding the other freds down, just like he did. (-sorry for bad english^^) - Cheers.
