"For my final collection I have created a non-binary/gender fluid luxury collection. My inspiration comes from my country of origin, the Philippines: the flora and the fauna, the fabrics, and textile - pre-Spanish culture and gender politics. This collection is called SIYA /sha/ or [ʃa], which is a pronoun in the Filipino language referring to the third person, or to the “Other”. Siya is a person of no specific gender and ageless, but with a youthful appeal. Siya is neither masculine or feminine who exudes respectability and strength, is confident, self-sufficient approachable, but battle-ready. Siya wears garments that are functionable, well-made and shows the muse’s high standing in society. This inclusive pronoun reflects my non-binary or gender fluid concept.
