I made a mini workbench similar to the Workstation Pro, and I used hard maple which has worked very well. Added a large front vise and definitely helps raising the assembly table I use for certain tasks.

I received some of those rubber pieces several years ago and could not remember what they were for. Later after throwing them out, I realized their use and just cut up some rubber hose, which was what they looked like anyway. Who has not thrown something out to find later what it was intended for.

As you say Sean, great investment if working wood is your business. It looks like top notch gear but it's expensive for someone like me. Do you have any recommendations for more economical but decent quality benches for the hobbyist who hasn't quite reached the skill level of making their own bench?

When you spend a lot of time explaining the wonders of a dog clamp and how miraculous it is, I guess you have to in order to justify a $73 clamp or a $125 mini vise. This is ridiculous.
