I haven't played any of them, but now looking at them, I agree with you. Skate 2 has better atmosphere. Otherwise, skate 3 looks like big upgrade over skate 2.
Yeah in Skate 2 not only does your board, grip tape, wheels, trucks, clothing, shoes actually get damaged and dirty, but you actually get realistic cuts and bruises all over your body too and can bleed like crazy. Also, when grinding dirty ledges, dirt puffs can be seen popping up behind your board, little clouds of dirt pop off the ledge. Soooo much detail in Skate 2! It's easily the best Skate imo.
Notice how in skate 2, the pov is a camera lens adding to the aesthetic of filming at spots or at competitions? That’s what I love about this game. Playing skate 3 to me can be pretty fun, but I’ve played skate 2 pretty much nonstop since my older brother and I picked it up at Best Buy in 2009. The story mode of gaining rep, sponsers, and attraction throughout the (underground) skating community makes me feel like I’m on the cover of thrasher. My favorite game of all time. ( oh and the soundtrack is that of something u would hear at a real skate comp which makes it 100x better.)
Skate 2 hit the perfect sweetspot for me. With focus on clean "realisitic" skating and the addition of things like the MegaRamp to enhance the fun, if you so desire. Skate 3 on the other hand felt like its focus was faster, higher, bigger. Which I did not like, if I want to make crazy air i can play Tony Hawks.
saying you can play tony hawk instead for big air is disingenuous to the skate series. In the first two games it was pretty much all realistic it was much harder to do glitches and play the “fun” way. But when they prioritize the more fun and unrealistic way to play its a problem? Play on hard where the controls are realistic or go play session or something
@@Chadowgon5 They won't because it's not what most people want. Skate 3 sold nearly 3x as many copies as Skate 2 for a reason. If you want realism go play Session or Skater XL or any of the other clones of those 2 that are in development.
Skate and skate 2 had a certain rustyness to it and not in a bad way at all. When skate 3 came out it was all super clean and i hope that with the new skate game you can switch between rusty style and clean style. Allready seen a lot of new things in the footage they have shown.
Skate 3 has better graphics, character editor, off board controls, and object editing features. Skate 2 has a better story, world map, color palette, and significantly better QoL features.
skate 2 is the best of the 3, no argument about it. the map is better since its proper open world, aesthetics are just factually superior, career mode is better and actually makes sense, better sound design, I could go on and on. The only good things about skate 3 are the new is trick variations with underflips, the difficulty settings and create a park. without hardcore mode and create a park there would be literally no reason for me to play skate 3 over 2. I hope the new game follows the vibe of 2, we need a "serious" sort of game, not the silly shit skate 3 was all about.
I like skate 3 because it's the only one I have, gonna get skate 2 tho, but I like skate 3 because I only really play campus skate or 1up and the glitches on campus are fun, but I wanna get skate 2 because It looks better and more realistic which is why I got skate 3 in the first place, not to be a trickling loser but to actually have fun skating and shi.
@@InFamXYT maybe im just ignorant af but idk how people enjoy tricklining. i mean if i wanted to button mash and spam combos i would just play the tony hawk games.. each to their own though, i cant be too hypocrytical as i trickshotted on cod for years which tricklining stemmed from that apparently. I do recommend picking up 2, even skate 1 as well, when you play 2 you will see what i mean with all the superior differences, GOAT skateboarding game imo.
Skate 2 has more soul put into the game than skate 3. Story is way cooler, flows and feels better when you skate (looking from the perspective as a skater), and the aesthetics. Skate 3 is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but it’s too arcade style. Spent hours making parks and real life spots n stuff, but if I’m chilling with homies and we want to play skate series it’s always skate 2
Skate 2 has such a nice aesthetic to it. The vignetting on the camera, the dirty and worn looking textures, the environment that actually looks like people live there while Skate 3 looks like a skating theme park. Lots of places feel like you're not supposed to be there, and in some cases you REALLY aren't with how the security chases you around. Sure, it has that 7th gen "piss filter" in some parts but I think this is one of the games that actually used it well.
I used to enjoy skating when i was a kid but didn't develop enough self confidence or willingness to try and put the time in, which one should :). Lack of talent too. I appreciate people that skate on different levels at different ages. Question for a random youtube user: If you game this kind of content, do you also skate in real life or if you skate in real life, do you ever game this style? Thank you!
the original skate with clothing, truck, wheel, board, and shoe sponsors along with real life soots made it the best one to come out, yeah you cant get off your board but the overall vibe is more skate like
Quick question who is the player your playing as in skate 2? I thinks it's Mike or something. I played every single skate game and skateboards, I played skate 2 before but forgot all the characters 😅
remember that skate 3 was rushed by the studio to put out. For my opinion, nostalgia and pure real skating comes from skate 1 which is already super similar to skate 2 therefore putting skate 2 up top for me
I've been playing skate 2 again on my pc and its honestly still everything i remember lol i love how gritty it looked. Only thing I'd take from skate 3 is the off board movement and only allow normal or hardcore mode. Easy mode is trash
unpopular opinion but i think the unrealism of skate 3 makes it more fun to play. some tricks that are very easy on skate 3 are borderline impossible to land on skate 2 without falling over. skate 2 to me just feels clunkier and a lot more slow, even though i prefer the graphics and map
skate 2 has a different map that focuses more on realistic skating than the insane stuff in skate 3, so it depends on what you prefer but skate 2 has infinitely better ragdolls
All the Skate 2 fanboys so hurt that Skate 3 sold 3x as many copies. If you want realism Session and Skater XL exist as well as half a dozen clones of them. We don't need another.
Delusional comment, Skate 3 didn't sell for shit when it came out. Matter of fact, it was the game that convinced EA skateboarding games were dead lmao.
