Skate 4 - New Tricks, Gameplay, and Trailer! 

This game will be great, but I think they need to make sure it doesn't just turn into a giant sandbox with buildings. I think a lot of the satisfaction of skate challenges or trick lines are making things happen in places that you wouldn't think to do them. The great dynamic between players skating and adapting to the environment is super important.

Don’t get me wrong I’m super stoked for this game, but I’m starting to get afraid that they’re going in more of a sandbox game rather than a textbook skate game

Nervous its gonna end up as a ragdoll sim, a lot of ragdoll going on, i don't want them to lose focus on the skate experience they are pros at making and what we all come here for

I played for the first time in February’s play test and yeah gameplay wise it’s no surprise they’ve knocked it out of the park, even in the pre-alpha it’s feeling super smooth and familiar with some nice added details. Only concerns as of right now are the obvious ones surrounding micro transactions and whether this game will be playable in offline single player and provide content that caters to that, like a story mode for example.

small thing to notice, the textures are not based on the object, they are based on the world. in several shots you can see players moving objects / editing the collab zone. in each the texture on the peice stays static and fixed to the world position, not pre-wrapped on the object. this may just be a temporary feature of their default temp texture tho

I hope that some of the cosmetic are not stuck behind a "battle pass" scheme or that the prices on these items are too expensive. I wish to see more challenges and rewards in the new game :)

Excellent work putting everything together by the skate team! One piece of constructive criticism I have is that I hope the actual map is filled with life and Atmosphere to make it feel like I’m in the city. While building your own obstacles is cool, what makes a game great is the atmosphere that surrounds it so I hop they put a lot of effort into textures and the life around the game not just the build your own skate map part.

i would love to see there be a night time mode or just something to do with that because i think it would look really sick!!

I was in the last playtest. Was a lot of fun, but it didn't feel 'tight' like the old Skate games. Really floaty feeling, but it was still fun. They are obviously still tweaking the game and getting it just right. I'll definitely be playing on launch.

I love the collabo zones but i think it would be cool if you could choose how crazy they get in different servers. A whole city server, a zones server, and a none server

The mechanic of having control over doing faster or slower tricks really sounds nice and is a great way to add something new to the series. I didn't even catch that watching the gameplay trailer. Really getting a little hyped again for the release.. I have faith

I hope they call handplants inverts and do more variations of em also i wish for more backyard pools and all curbs to be slappyable. Gear wise i want more brands and more dunks.

is there gonna be separate servers where dropping props is prohibited, and others where it’s not? i’d like to keep it realistic and mostly street, but also have the option of custom ramps or parks

I hope with the advancement in no-comply animation that we may potentially get some manual tricks to do. I'd love to Casper or even one foot Manuel across a Manuel pad

The things I enjoyed the most in skate three is a tie between the skating and flow. And explore the entire map always finding new spots

I hope it will include the skate 3 other skaters. Isaac, demo bones, meat man etc.

They need a story mode can’t stress this enough

My only concerns are that they’ll make it look to colorful and arcadey and that it’ll be way too focused on the climbing and building aspects and less on the story mode and gameplay .

this is great to hear that there doing a new skate game, it's sad that we don't know when It's really coming out but I can't wait this is amazing!

I think they should add board snapping , it would be something that you can turn off in case you don't like it, but if you prefer something "real" or at least look a like would be cool, anyways i'm hyped to play this game

It would be cool to see a way to join a friends custom park at anytime and not have to have them on. Cant wait to see what this game has

6:50 this is a good point. It’d be too bad to have big nonsense structures in the sky and background of all the realistic skate clips. Maybe an option to turn off that stuff in the replay editor would go a long way to help

is this even a skateboarding game anymore?

I'm not hating on the direction that this game went.. its just the parkour type movements, and the unrealistic aspect of the ramps seem to ruin my expectations. I was actually looking forward to a more realistic version of the Skate series that started when the promo was first seen on Rob D's show Rob and Big. I'll most likely still play this game, I just hope I am wrong and this game ends up being better than I expected

I feel that this game is becoming more like the Fortnite of skate games, leaving behind the true essence of skateboarding, I mean I could relate more to session than this new edition of the game, for now it's kinda a miss for me

Just the parkour adds so much more possibilities for custom maps and challenges it looks amazing!

gravity is too weak

It would be cool if they had a downhill jam style map like fall guys where there's a ton of skaters trying to race downhill and you have to maneuver over obstacles.

Skateboarding isn't the core focus of sk4te. That worries me. This is Fortnite extreme with skateboards instead of guns.

It looks like the culture of skating is completely diminished. As someone who skated all through childhood, teens, even college, this just looks like a game made for people who just wanna do ridiculous things with a ragdoll on a skateboard. I remember in high school when the first skate came out I would just hit up a rail and practice kickflip back tails on it and just try to make it look clean and realistic like I was actually skating while listening to the soundtrack. This just looks so disconnected from what I was hoping for.

tbh sounds alot like it'll be another boring simulator game,the words free then followed by micro transactions scares me. I loved the story and the challenges from the other installments. going to shy away from this if my fears come true.

the thing that i see that i dont know if he announces in another video but the customizable grip tape is something that now will also be in the game that i hope can be really fucking cool for designs

Looks just like a PS3 game. Where’s the high fidelity graphics for this current generation consoles!! This game has been in development for well over 3 years!! They should be finished by now. Also, is there going to be a story mode?! All they’ve shown off is multiplayer stuff.

The thing I’m probably most stoked about this new gameplay is the clean 50-50 on a half pipe

I was excited for this game, but looking at it now it still looks like trash. And the fact it's a online service game is a no go. Online services are flops and will eventually always end. So don't get too attached.

I'm super excited for this game, but I agree with you on the fact that they're could be too many custom builds within one map. They need to limit the amount of custom builds per server or map or whatever.

I love the customization I’m seeing so far, high waters, tucked in shirts, lots of shoe brands, hopefully board brands are going to be high in numbers as well, that no comply to crooked grind was sick, I’m just not that big on the upscale traversal stuff. It’s not my main focus on a skate game. I liked the first skate game where you do missions, get a shop sponsor, then board sponsor, then shoes, etc.

Should have mentioned with that last clip/trick, he was attempting a bodyvarial mid slide before bailing. That will be sick, noseslide, bodyvarial tailslide or boardslide, bodyvarial lip.

I've been dying for the slow tricks like skate 3 did a good job but this is definitely looking a lot better!

Would be cool if you could visit the maps and areas in skate 3 and maybe even skate 2 and 1. The map is really what made those games so fun, being able to explore and find endless things to create lines and huge jumps with. Not to mention the secret areas that were always really fun to find and explore. If it does become just a sandboxy type of game with not as much detail as the games made in the past I, personally, will be disappointed. Still glad they're making a new one however and the game play looks great. (Just a bit choppy still, they are in alpha or what not so it's understandable.)

I have a big feeling this is going to be a very multiplayer and campaign based game like running from cops hood fences, you know like skaters do you have your own safe house and so on I can’t wait for this!!!!!!

im sure they have all the big obstacles because they want to be able to tinker still. i think they will add some other type of falling physics at least hopefully

I just want to play it lol, been signed up for insider since it went live and have signed up multiple times since then. It may not be perfect but I’m still excited for a new skate installment, hoping it gets correct support for the foreseeable future 🙏

im worried about the glitches part of what made skate 3 so iconic was the wacky glitches you'd experience with your friends i hope that they still somehow incorporate this feature maybe with some sorta randomness factor like how minecraft has that weird integer affecting biome generation.

It'd be so cool to see a day time and night time skating in the game

they should make 2 different lobbys for players: one so u can place objects go crazy and one so that building is restricted so u get more of a raw city vibe when skating around
