being pre-alpha, it still looks very good, imagine when all the extra animations and interactions have been added to this, it will look and feel much better and more smooth. Keep it up and keep giving feedback to them!
I like that they expanded beyond expectations of off board gameplay. It's definitely going to be a fun game and I hope we can play maps other people create
The engine looks solid and I know the animations are going to get more polish overtime. The parkour adds a new element that's going to make the game unique compared to the past 3 titles. Overall I like the direction the game is going in and I'm looking forward to what the art team is designing.
Yes parkour is very realistic within the skateboarding community lmao. This shit is stupid. Blows my mind people actually want this and its going to ruin what i thought this game could have been.
Bro this looks like so much fun. My best memories on skate 3 were just fooling around in the open world with my friends. Idk if they gonna add it into this game, but I remember fighting npcs and getting my shit rocked by people🤣 good times
@@wildk5367 I feel like that old era on the ps3 and 360 was a time where we could litterally spend forever having fun on any game, like even with no content everyone just made their own enjoyment. Now everyone wants constant updates and content to auto play the games for them
Keep in mind this is pre-pre-alpha. They have a very strong backbone of skate gameplay and I cant wait to see how they experiement and expand. This is a very exaggerated arcade-ish game franchise and I love the idea of adding parkour elements.
It really wasn't THAT exaggerated or arcadish until skate 3, though. So, i would say the overall game series is very much more realistic when compared to the competitor of the time Tony Hawk PS games.
One of the most fun things in skate 3 was the hall of meat and I'm loving how they are adding a bit more of a realistic ragdoll crash physics instead of just the rigid confused looking skater we used to have when you crashed so I can already tell crashing is gonna be alot more fun
This is still pre alpha and it still looks amazing and fun as hell, let alone when they actually finish all the animations and make things way smoother.i literally cannot wait for this
I haven’t heard anyone talk about it but parkour is going to be huge. Imagine climbing places to be able to trick off things we never would have been able to before
Dude perfect mix between fun arcade-ish gameplay and realism. It's kinda like the Forza Horizon of skateboarding games. Not going for a realistic simulator type approach but still keeping it relatively minimalistic and keeping the artistic direction pretty convincing.
@@anthonyrosario8982 like a car game where the cars don't break into a million pieces and you can survive huge jumps etc like in forza. This is that game for skateboarding. You still have convincing looking tricks and ramps work like ramps, but you're going to have to suspend your disbelief here and there.
I actually think it's kinda sad that they're spending all this time on parkour. Who cares? It's a skateboarding game...this stuff was always secondary to the actual on board play...not a selling point. But there's no story, no offline play, and it's a ftp base game with cosmetic microtransactions...no wonder they're shifting focus to bodies ragdolling in comedic "hall of meat" ways...
Honestly would absolutely love to see a mirrors edge themed custom maps, that would be awesome, obviously that would be far in the future but still, we'll have to see what the custom map making will be like
judging by 3's Park editor and the editor from this there's not much they can do to ruin it so I think it only gets better from here, a mirrors edge themed map would definitely be doable
@@sebastiandragonheart They obviously aim towards a more realistic approach. LOL. Go play on hardcore and you cannot do any of that. I wanted a realistic skate game, not this shit lol
One thing I really am liking is when he was going forward and was not high enough above the ledge so the board didn't make it, but his character stumbled and kept running instead of falling down with no agility. I also love the roll underneath the object. Very good parkour potential! Potentially the best parkour game? 🤔
@@Styphoryte Yeah I really liked the first one but it didn't feel close to as free as this. Everything in mirrors edge is set up more like a track to run through, with very limited freedom, which sounds weird since parkour is all about freedom of movement. It was great for what it was, but I found the system to be very linear, along with the combat in it. I prefer a more chill and free parkour experience, rather than under pressure of getting shot. Though, it does add to the adrenaline aspect which is nice, but the idea of skating and parkour is more appealing to me rather than shooting and parkour. Games like Brink and Titanfall also had parkour and some more recent ones too, but imo skating and parkour just seems like a more fluid and fun mix
@@theangelicwon8852 I played mirrors edge, and I didn’t like the first person, it supposed to be more immersive, but it just doesn’t feel right with the camera changing, I like the 3rd person view much better, because it allows more control aswell, so ur character can make quick directional changes in any direction
It sucks EA is listening to what people want because the fact so many actually want parkour in this is just weird. As a skater irl and a huge skate fan growing up this just saddens me. This isnt skatebaording. This is just a straight up gimmick to get more people involved. Sad
@@curto201 yeah, I feel you. But remember, this is the pre-pre alpha which means that they’re testing the features and seeing if it’s good or not. Also, it’s still a skateboarding game. They wouldn’t dramatically change the formula. I think the parkour works just fine
Dude I love it. I can see myself spending a ton of time in this game. I played Skate 1 and 2, to death but wasn't the biggest fan of 3. I wonder what other boards/skates/vehicles we'll have available if any. This looks like such a great movement system
Skate 4 took all the wild shit people did with glitching and modding from Skate 3 and made it a feature in Skate 4(plus parkour). I don’t mind this as we already have 2 realistic skating sims out with Skater XL and Sessions. It’s a mixture of realism and arcade much needed addition to the skating game family
What doesnt make sense exactly? Everything looks fine to me, the game is on the right direction and it looks extremely fun. Glad they added parkour to it instead of just skating. This is a good way to make a skate game more interesting and adding this feature is a great way for people to try out new tricks, and such. I cant wait!
Parkour is a stupid idea for a skateboarding game. It shouldn't be in the game at all. Being able to jump and climb ledges from a flat surface makes sense. But to be able to just grab a ledge and clamber up it while falling from mid air is an absolute joke of a mechanic. It's just going ro ruin the game and every multiplayer mode is just going to be whoever knows how to exploit parkour moves in a line to get the most points. Stupid.
@@TheSilentTiger89 I spent over 1500 hours playing skate 3 in private free ride lobbies with my homies. Who cares. Do you know how many more spot possibilities it opens up? By the time I moved on from skate 3 we had exploited every glitch in the game to get onto buildings and find new lines. Foot jams on top of light poles while gapping over map boundaries. There was literally nothing left in the game to find anymore. I’m thrilled about the possibility to go anywhere on the map and make the FULL city usable. There’s always going to be someone that doesn’t like it and has to cry about it. I guess that’s you. Give the game 2 weeks people are already going to exploiting parts of the game that’s just what happens. You think black box intended on tricklining being a thing when they released skate 3?
@@willb.7417 Youre a person who never skated in their life most likely, and if you did not seriously. No real skater wants parkour in this game, was hoping they focused so much more on actual skate gameplay, not this. This completely throws the game off for me at least. just weird.
My biggest problem so far is how the flips look. Whether it's from running or while on the skateboard they just look so unnatural at the moment, looking forward to seeing them iron that out and getting it looking smooth.
I’m sorry? Did the physics of any of the games ever really makes sense? This looks amazing and I’m so rockhard. I’ve never awaiting anything more in my life (no kids… but still)
How upsetting, the skate games have always been so realistic and lifelike! How dare they have imperfections in a pre pre alpha build that wasn’t meant public release, I expected fully developed and optimized features! 😡
THIS IS SICKKKK!! i think I speak for everyone when I say that I always wanted some solid parkour movement like this is skate 3 😂😂 I can already see the insane spot battles this games gonna have!
@@tobysutherland4471 play skater XL then bro. This looks super fun and like I won’t get bored with it in two weeks because it gives you FREEDOM to do things. i personally love how many spots this will add to the game. We never wanted pure realism out of skate. We wanted skate to feel like skate.
@@no.name_30 Yes fr, you can control him while hes flipping and doing the parkour and land on a skateboard. that is waaaaayyyy cooler im sorry i love those games but i think its also just gonna feel more fun cause of all the physics in the parkour its just a great combo in my opinion parkour and ragdolls lol. in terms of just running around doing parkour in an open world i think this game might be at the top for me personally lol (probably it isnt out yet of course)
@@BuzzingGoober yea bro, an alpha from september 21, I don't hope much for this game, but I don't even care that much to be saying it on all skate 4 vids like u do
I think that parkour animations are cool, as long as there is some sort of stamina, and fall damage. Catching ledges, doing flips... is cool, but after a 5 stores fall, you should break your arms trying to do that. What makes Skate (and real skating) fun is also getting wrecked, crashing and failing so I hope that they remember that
@@EliAtrxpstar That will be there, has been ever since the first Skate. This is just an early build, I don't think we should worry about how the game looks at all
I sincerely hope they don’t add a “stamina” gimmick to this. If I want to run somewhere on the map I want to run all the way there. I can stand waiting for stamina to recharge. Skate has always been an arcade game not a simulator
I didn’t think it would have parkour in it but it totally makes sense, I hope there’s some top secret hidden skate spots you have to use parkour to access
Honestly, out of all the pre alpha videos I've seen, this is the best. I know the actual skating mechanics need a lot of improvement especially for when you switch stance, stumble, etc. But The parkour mechanics look pretty decent for a game that doesn't even need to have them
