Quality content mate. 👊 looking forward to part 1 and 2! Definitely have to learn how to play around with my material. Never cleaned bearings before... interesting stuff

HI! May I know how the Bronson Raw bearings doing now? I am thinking of buying one for my surfskate, and I surfskate the street a lot. Does it actually keep dirt building up? I have been doing research on these Bronson Raw Bearings for days. And this video is the most honest review of these bearings

Thanks for your kind feedback, yes they do keep building up with dirt and require maintenance so I have now switched to using Powell Bones Swiss bearings which are just as fast (if not faster) but are shielded so don’t get dirty like the bronson RAWs and do not require cleaning or lubricating anywhere near as often.

@@NeilHesterSkateboarding Great! I will take your advice and get some shielded bearings.

Definitely go for Bones Swiss I’ve not come across any better yet and they last longer than anything else too. Cheaper bearings you’ll end up replacing regularly.

Cool RAD sticker on the nose. I used to subscribe to RaD magazine in the late 80's.

Yeah man, I have a TShirt too, they are kinda back in business as the Read and Destroy archive, they were trying to crowd fund a book but it didn't make the target. Lots of good stuff on their website and Instagram to reminisce about though 👍🏼

4:26 exactly and I like my bearings quite, I don't need Dolby Atmos sound out of 'em!

I thought the audible speed technology on the Raws was working a little too well. I ll possibly try the G3s instead.

😉 personally I settled on Bones Swiss , nice and quiet , faster than anything else I’ve come across so far and very long lasting . Yes they are more expensive but it seems for quality rather than hype. G2’s and G3’s didn’t feel any different to Reds to me and I personally rate mini logos higher than reds.

Bronson are the best

do you like the raws or think shielded are best?

Personally I think RAWs are a gimmick they get full of dust and dirt and make a lot of rattle and noise. Some people like that but I prefer smooth and clean, so I use Bones Swiss which last years and years and rarely get dirty inside and even when they do after a couple of years a quick clean and they are as good as new.

I'm really surprised by the low tolerances, I definitely would've thought they would've broken frequently with the lateral forces and impacts of skateboarding
@NeilHesterSkateboarding
@NeilHesterSkateboarding 4 года назад
I guess it depends on how you skate, I’ve not broken a bearing (even a cheap one) since I’ve been skating again , I don’t even remember breaking any in my youth except the ones that came in a cheap toy board. Because of that, For me it’s more about how they feel than any potential breakage.

@@NeilHesterSkateboarding I've got a set of Oust bearings that I guess are coming to the end of their life - exploding one by one. I might try some low tolerance SKF then , was just worried the balls might pop out but as long as the cage is intact I'm sure it be fine

I thought bronson raws were meant to be lubeless 🤷‍♂️

Incredibly boring and dull. I watched the whole video and greatly enjoyed it. I remember skating NMB's years ago. They worked fine, but I always ended up with dents in the shields, which essentially stopped the bearings dead.
@NeilHesterSkateboarding
@NeilHesterSkateboarding 3 года назад
Thanks I had to put the dull and boring disclaimer there for the impatient / short attention span contingent 😉 but I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yeah the sealed nature of NMB’s and as you say the possibility of denting the shields meant they would eventually die but for their time they were pretty robust and still are really, and great value for the price they are. These days with the remove-able shields they don’t dent quite so catastrophically if they do get damaged they just cause a little more resistance but don’t stop you rolling.
