In this video, we take you round Skegness Sands, a Caravan and Motorhome Club (CAMC) affiliated site run by Barham Leisure in, you guessed it, Skegness.
We show you the facilities, which include a hair salon! The toilets and showers were modern and kept spotlessly clean during our stay. Unlike a club site, there was no closing time for cleaning, instead they cleaned throughout the day. There are also separate family shower rooms, a baby and toddler washroom, and accessible facilities.
The site is mostly gravel, tarmac and block paving, with some grass between some pitches but no hedges. That makes it appear quite open and exposed, but actually it doesn't feel like that when you're in your unit. The campsite was pretty much full on our first night, but we didn't feel hemmed in or on show and everything felt comfortable. Our pitch was at the end of a row with a wall adjacent and trees beyond that, so we did get to see some greenery.
The site was quiet and the only sound was actually that of birdsong, and not just by the trees near our pitch.
The big attraction of the site for us was its proximity to the promenade and beach, both of which can be reached via a gate direct from the site.
You're given a key for this on arrival, along with a key for the toilets - we thought that might be a faff but it was OK, although it might be more annoying for a larger family who want to use the facilities at the same time.
All in all, we'd definitely go back to this site. It looks a bit like ground zero, but it felt much more pleasant and rural, the facilities were immaculate, and the location was ideal for us.
We also surprised ourselves with how much we liked Skegness - why not check out our video.
