Hey, I was taken to see this movie twice

apparently it was second highest in Japan that year, definitely makes ya wonder if zelda was inspired by this film

because it's incredibly niche in appeal.

I scored well with audiences, it just wasn’t marketed correctly.

You can also learn a lot from each character individually by paying attention to their individual mannerisms. Skekekt and Skekzok are the only ones using finger utensils, showing they have a bit more elegance and higher table manners. Especially Ekt who never has food sticking out of their mouth when eating. But Ekt is also making a lot of noise over eating one piece and freaks out over the loose Crawlie and shying from Augrha showing how delicate they are. Skekzok also looks at Skekung with a look of confusion at one point, showing he's the most likely to make the "sit up straight for thra's sake" comment. Skektek tries to steal some food off Skekshod's plate showing impatience and envy, even calling the treasurer a slimeball when he was caught. Gourmand is obviously the sloppiest of the bunch, but Skekung- despite being Emperor- has the mannerisms of a dog like when he tosses rotten food behind him and dunks his head in a water bowl just to shake the water off. Love minor details like this.

Im still pissed netflix cancelled that series...

@Robert Cote its fun looking back to this and seeing the way Henson made his. i value this movie highly, and to have more content made after so long is amazing to me. the age of bring everything nostalgic back wins again.

Yeah that's a fantastic detail. It's just now dawning on me.

He even goes "Oh, Gelfling!" afterwards.

That's because Skektek the scientist never dined with the whole clan. He was seen as an outsider. His main allies were the Treasurer ( who mentioned the Gelfling) and The Emperor who Invited him to sit with them all. It was all very political very much like real life.

Scientist had no idea what was going on, only that there was a new emperor and whatever else a few other skeksis wanted to keep him informed of. Interesting that the Garthim master invited Scientist back into the fold when he becomes emperor. If they ever get a chance to do a season 2 of Age of Resistance, I hope they expand on the Garthim master, since he kind of just appears.

Actually, the noises Augra made reminded me of my own mother. She got really heavy during her last 10 years of life, hence extreme diabetes and hypothyroidism which created awful health problems that she denied having and refused her medications, which shortened her lifespan and created many other problems, as well. So sad.

The Dark Crystal -- Age of Resistance has been out for some years now and they mainly use puppetry and practical effects, while computer effects are used merely to lend support to the practical and puppetry effects.

It's different in tone from THE DARK CRYSTAL; the former film is a bit more morbid and deliberately serious in nature (not that it's a bad thing -- it's actually a refreshing change of pace), whereas LABYRINTH is a bit of humor and drama. I think both are unique films in their own ways. I consider CRYSTAL the more consistent and tighter film, but LABYRINTH still has its eyepopping charms. And of course the late David Bowie is a great Goblin King.

I also agree, i always consider TDC to be a better mature Henson film but Lab is still solid eh? and do you think 1982 is a great tear in movies?
