Honestly the algorithm is so effective at feeding us trash (in my experience) that I'm kinda inclined to say that it messed up and let this one slip out. 😄 Whatever led to us getting to hear this I'm grateful for it and I hope it continues to be heard. This album is certainly enriching my life! 🙂
Never heard of this band. They have like 700 followers on Instagram... I feel like I've just walked in a sketchy bar and found this amazing band before everyone else.
Hey man, that’s us - we are a different band entirely. Chad and his music is amazing, although we had thought we were the only Skelephant until recently! Make sure to direct your love over to his projects. :)
Hi @@ernieoffdaperc, no this song isn’t us and we absolutely do not want to wrongfully take any credit for it. There are two bands called Skelephant - one is the project of Chad Vickers (who created People Are Machines) and is on Leaky Basement Records, the other is an unsigned UK rock band responsible for the Ivory EP (that’s us). Hope this clears up any confusion 🙂
If you really like this, you should support the artist and buy the album (or at least the song) on their Bandcamp. I just did. Streaming it on Spotify will pay them basically nothing.
lmao!! at least one of them is definitely saying: this asshole gonna make me listen to his boring garage rock and not at least invite me over to get stoned with him?? mondo cane!!
I'll never know either why it suddenly blew up after 6 years but I'll say thank you to the algorithm also because my music is finally getting heard lol
@@leakybasementrecords987 fate is mysterious like that, bro. I hope this algo blessing turns into something special for you. Of course I've been checking out your other stuff after listening to this and you're very diverse, 'Matilda' is a great album, I noticed that was your last release about 5 years ago, are you still actively playing and writing? I have a feeling you might catch a good following now if you're still creating. Much luck to you my man, you are very very talented.
@@FVCK- Matilda was the last Skelephant album. I then started a new project that was more surf oriented called "Iguanacondas" which is also me writing all the songs and playing all the instruments. It's all on this same channel
@@leakybasementrecords987i have a request, CAN YOU PLEASEEEEE RELEASE THIS FULL ALBUM INDIVIDUALLY A VIDEO WITH EACH SONG BECAUSE I WANT TO SAVE SOME SONGS TO MY PLAYLIST AND NOT THE FULL ALBUM
@@TrumpFan-kj9hj Hmmm 🤔 1) the man from Earth 2) soylent green 3) the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy 4) blade runner 5) fried green tomatoes 6) pride And ofcourse tlotr saga
This is a blessing. I woke up looking at the campfire still rolling smoke from last night and this shows up. Wow. Just wow. Perfect timing! Found my new fav band.
This found me on the perfect day. I am saving this and will savour this in the evening with a nice warm cup of coffee and staring into the abyss till the abyss stares back into me.
All instruments were played by Chad Vickers. This album was recorded in the year of 2017 in a home studio basement in Durham, North Carolina USA. It is not a band :)
Hoo Lee Fuk! This is incredible! Got goosebumps when I heard this first time. Yt alghoritms recommended me this and this is the second time in all my live when this was a jackpot. I hope that the rest of Your music is as awesome as this album!
As a kid who grew up in the 70s and 80s, we were relegated to hearing music on terrestrial radio. We would NEVER hear a song like this. EVER EVER EVER. Boomers can drone on about how great their music was, but the fact is, music was on a tight leash for decades and utterly limited. Christ, I've heard Led Zeppelin 53,000 times in my life.
@@ev446 if you're lucky. If you had one guy who happened to have a copy of this obscure album. And most people don't live near colleges to listen to College radio stations that have about a 4-mile signal radius
@@ev446 so as a kid in the 90s were you traveling across the country tuning into College radio stations from state to state? Did you have a ham radio or something? Napster was barely a thing. LOL from 91 to 93 I was a college DJ in Wisconsin River Falls and I didn't have access to this music. You would have had to have brought it in yourself
Then you were very sheltered. Such music did indeed exist in the 70's out of NYC and the entire CBGB's scene. And yes, a lot of creativity in the 80's underground scene. How did you miss New Wave and punk?
@@texaho OK so here in Minneapolis in the 1970s, please tell me which stations would have played this song. Just ONE station. I'll wait. Also, why would you imply I 'missed' New wave and punk??
I think Lo-Fidelity Indy / lo-fi music is making a big comeback among those tired of the over produced music since the late 90s. Its nice hearing something more raw
Gosh i love this album! So much nostalgia and what a throwback! I'm glad to see the algorithm blessing so many people wirh the discovery of Skelephant.
Track 7 has that sound... I grew up on Radiohead (OK Computer was my first) Pink Floyd, the Chili Peppers, Nirvana, etc. and other than listening to the Lonesome Crowded West and a couple old mathcore records and some Bowie and other cassettes I found I honestly haven't listened to that kind of old-school rock in a very long time, so I started paying attention. I clicked this by accident, but these are some pretty sweet jams. Thanks everyone!
I've heard fove minutes and already can tell it's going to interest me a lot! Really enjoying knowing that this band is absolutely awesome. One guy done it all! Wirh a few special guests on a few tracks. Genius! ❤
Some are praising the YT AI for having let us find these excellent recordings. I would better deprecate its behaviour for having concealed these tracks for such a long time. Psychedelic and intimate. WOW
I opened yt with a give me something I need write now in my head ~ this was on the top and atm first song is over and I already know whole album will be on repeat for a long time 🙏
WOW!There's a Hungarian band called "Elefánt" that I came across a month ago and I was very happy. Now there's this band called "Skelephant" which is brilliant! It is a good day too.🐘
This is really sick music! You are an underrated small artist that I hope gets more recognition, especially since how long your music has gone under the radar for
Thank you, RU-vid, for bringing this to me! 🫡🙏 I literally can't remember the last time I willingly listened to an hour of music straight. Today was the day!
what is this. this is what i was searching for when i think to myself that i need something new. my prediction thing in my brain just broke and exploded into a tsunami of dopamine.
@@JustDatBoi Dandelion Gum was what I was thinking of - have a listen, it's a good un': ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0OSF-RZdL2s.html
I've already listened to this entire album 4 times but I'm really looking forward to the hurricane that's hitting us tomorrow because it'll give me an excuse to stay inside and listen to it all day long. 😂
You tube algorithm has been🔥 lately. So many hidden Gems. It feels good to know all these artists are getting some ❤. Time to give a listen to 12 Year Dream(full album) Thanks Skelephant for putting the time and effort to create!
