It would have taken thousands of workers to build the ark in those days when the infrastructure didn’t exist and any large project required a massive amount of human labor. One thing you are forgetting is that water has different characteristics. There is salt water which is common in the oceans. There is fresh water that occupies lakes and rivers and there is also brackish water that is found in bays and river outlets into the ocean that has a lower salt content than the open ocean. These different water types support different types of types of marine life that would not survive in other mixtures. Many water dwelling creatures feed near a shoreline which would have been gone for 10 + months. With a flood that covers all mountain tops, all plant life would have died as well , so where did the dove find an olive branch?

Where did the dove find the branch? Plants may have died but seeds are quite strong, and the soil on mountain slopes might have been washed clean of salt and the seeds floating around could become plants and trees. Most lakes without a connection to the sea are still salty.
Okay, your first statement about sea creatures already derails your entire angle. Anyone who's ever owned fish would know that you can't just simply dump any fish or other marine animals into the ocean and they'll be perfectly fine. Freshwater fish tend to shrivel and die in salt water, while saltwater fish usually swell up and die in freshwater. Secondly, the ocean isn't all one temperature. It's far warmer and cooler in different places just the same as land. Saying you wouldn't need the sea creates because they already have the ocean in just silly.

It is likely that the seas were not as salty back then. Much of the current salinity is actually due to mineral runoff from land, and has increased over time. That is why the Dead Sea is so salty (it's a dead end with a lot of evaporation). Not all of the water in the flood would have been oceanic in origin. Much of it would have fallen from the sky (the firmament) or come from the "fountains of the deep". Even today, there is *still* more water underground than there is in the oceans.

Matthew 19:26 says..... But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Now this scripture,in particular, is talking about salvation and how to get to heaven but God gives a very important biblical principle here. That nothing is impossible with God. Surely if he can save anyone, God can perform the miracles that occurred during the flood. Where is your faith? Do you have any? The disciples' jaws may have dropped when Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into the kingdom of God. Their culture thought of rich people as favored by God and able to accomplish anything. When Jesus says the rich can't attain heaven, it would have left them wondering how anyone, at all, could hope to attain salvation. Christ responds with another shocking remark, one that might have been confusing at first. The disciples likely expected Jesus to say that only those who are truly humble or poor in spirit can be saved (Matthew 5:3). Or, that only those with childlike faith and dependence on God can be saved (Matthew 19:13-15). He says none of that. Instead, Jesus agrees with the disciples that it is impossible- "with man"-for anyone to be saved. This expands on Jesus' earlier statements about how difficult it is for the wealthy to be saved (Matthew 19:23-24). In human terms, no one can achieve salvation (Titus 3:5). This goes back to Jesus' conversation with the rich young ruler who discovered his own goodness was not so good, after all (Matthew 19:16-22). The ark was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high, with three stories and many rooms inside. The ark was a large floating chest not a boat with pointed bow as some suggest. Some investigators have said that, had there been as few as 43 “kinds” of mammals, 74 “kinds” of birds, and 10 “kinds” of reptiles in the ark, they could have produced the variety of species known today. All the marine creatures remained outside the ark and the dinosaurs died off.
I was curious as to why the Arc that they built had a keep and a pointed bow. The only reason to do that is if it was powered and needed to be able to cut through the water and be steered. A floating rectangular box would have done the job.

A boat with a flat bow does not work well moving forward in the waves would come over the gunnel and the boat would sink. Why would it be necessary for a floating box with no power?

The Lord has shown his faithfulness and power many times throughout history. Why would these things be too difficult for the Lord?

A HYPOTHETICAL - Just suppose the Ark met with stormy weather and sunk, half a million animals and eight crew drowned. This could have happened because apparently the Ark was afloat for about a year and they were bound to meet some heavy seas at some stage, imagine the workload on the eight crew, feeding and attending to 500,000 animals and all the problems that would entail. Anyway the Ark sinks and every person and animal dies, the fish swimming around would be the only creatures left, gradually the water dissipates and land appears once again, (who knows where the water dissipated to) the fish gradually develop limbs and begin to breathe air without gills and they slowly turn into small land animals, as they evolve their size increases and over the next few million years we see a myriad of animals including dinosaurs inhabit the Earth, Can you see where this is going? Meanwhile old God is sitting on his cloud wondering where he went wrong, he murdererd the entire population of the globe and created an environmental nightmare just to prove some obscure point and now we are right back where we started from. Well, for me personally, belief in a god has the same value as belief in a flat earth. There is no evidence for either, just allegations, but believers feel attacked when you show them how irrational their belief is. Maybe people will start to question why they believe in the Christian god and not in Allah or Zeus. I think education is extremely important, as is the willingness to question things instead of filling in the gaps in knowledge with faith. It is no coincidence that more intelligent people are more likely to become atheists than less intelligent people. Most believers have not even read the Bible. Many think that abortion or keeping slaves is a sin, but that is not true. The Bible also explains how to abort a child if your partner has cheated on you. There are also different rules about how to keep slaves.

This religious myth is rediculious at face value. There is no way that some number of animals could leave any ark at one geographic location just several thousand years ago, magically transport themselves across oceans, (such as kangaroos and echidnas returning to Australia) and leave behind no offspring along the way. Then have a single family of middle easterners repopulate the planet AND generate the various phenotypes such as African blacks, Scandinavians, eastern Asians, Latinos, Inuits, pacific islanders, Aborigines, Pygmies, Mongols, Native Americans, etc AND populate the corners of the globe with completely different languages and cultures that don't have any references to said religious myth. It is jaw dropping that adults can fall for such an obvious children's story.
Every wooden vessel ever made was coated this way, and painted, and still they leaked. The ship's carpenter and his mates spent part of every day pounding oakum into leaks. Wooden vessels needed mechanical pumps (which did not exist in the early bronze age) to pump out water, and members of the crew had to do this regularly - in heavy seas (like in a flood), it had to be done constantly. The larger the ship, the more the leakage, and the more members of the crew had to work the pumps. All ships flex and bend while afloat - wooden ships do this too, stretching the spaces between the planks. The larger the ship, the more flexing and bending, and thus the more leakage. It's unavoidable. On this ark, since no pumps, the water would have to be bailed with buckets...and since the only opening is at the very top, every single bucket would have to be walked all the way down to the bilge, then dragged all the way back up, and poured out through that 18-inch opening at the very top (so you can't even throw the water, have to pour it nice and slow), then all the way back down again, and all the way back up again, endlessly. Add that to feeding every one of the 6,000+ animals, grooming then, cleaning up after them (with eight people it comes to shoveling about 3.5 tons of manure per person per day, again all the way down, then all the way up, one shovel-full at a time), watering them (with fresh water, not salt), etc etc. Impossible.

A worldwide flood never happened. I work in genetics and we KNOW that there never was a worldwide bottleneck of human and animal populations several thousand years ago. It just didn’t happen. It's a fact that people's attention span is very short this is basically an outline to the story so that anybody old young believer non-believer or a complete agnostic or atheist could at least hear the story without all the extra details at first I was going to listen when he talks so fast but then I just said no or a girl and I did and I'm glad I did so I think this is what I personally would call and outline if I were writing a book or IE short story I would use an outline right we did it in high school some people didn't even college so that's what the man has done here and I don't know if talking fast this is normal this is the first time I've seen this man the details that were given in church whether we preaching or Wednesday night service whatever work Sunday School that's the deepen the believer in the knowledge of the word we are to grow we are just we start off on milk with this Jesus loves me this I know and then as we learn about the scripture we understand why and how Jesus loves us and that's the meat of the work I would learn how to apply that but both the milk of the word and the meat of the word can be explained or taught but the right person has to teach it and the right group of people has to want to listen so what this man is done made an outline of the story of Noah so that no matter who you are you can hear it in just a few minutes without losing your train of thought most likely and you go well maybe the story is feasible until the young person who doesn't really know the story it may make it sound a little interesting without all the extra details that the body of Christ desires we deserve to know the whole word of God that everything where being an unbeliever a young person a young believer or an atheist or other religions and hear this in a short period of time and at least give it some thought that might even lead them to Salvation so that's the way I look at this this is purely an outline as if someone was writing a book so this is how this is my outline now I'm going to write a really thousand page book I think Tim did a great job

Fossils and shells of sea life found in the layers on mountain ranges. True scientist that seek answers see it as a great discovery in learning our beginings and many have come to believe that these discoveries do line up with what the Bible says.

The Ark was a football field and a half long, including the height made it very capable of housing 6,000 animals and Noah’s family. Great explanation of the ark!

The Ark described here is about half the size of the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier. Do you think that, even if the Enterprise was cleared out of all its weapons, nuclear propulsion units and just turned into an empty floating shell with thousands of various sized box-shelf compartments and at least fifty miles of hallways throughout, that enough appropriate food to feed such a crowd of creatures could be stored in it (using bronze-age technology), and be loaded with a little less than 7000 land creatures (each with their own special diet) for more than a month, with less than 10 people to crew the whole vessel? In that, at its launching, it was already a 75-year (at its foundation construction points) old giant wooden box where at least half of it had been sitting out in the elements for much more than 30 years, if even just 1% of its under-water line region was suffering from any undetected wood-rot, it may have floated for perhaps 10 days. Oh yeah ... I forgot, miracle of this kind do happen (but only in Biblical fantasy-land). The Flood Tale was first composed in the middle Bronze Age when the Earth was thought to be about the size of the much later Roman Empire. The Ark was imagined for a world encompassing a land mass about that size. But that is all it was, a spectacularly imaginative composition of a "space" ship that could float around the cataclysmically enhanced seas of a global water world and save humanity until that ocean subsided. An earliest, proto-science fiction fable. Whoever wrote Gilgamesh was the Jules Verne of Mesopotamia, and Palestine. But now? People are a little more sophisticated, and at least a bit more scientifically literate. This Noah tale is ludicrous when thought of as anything more than a fairytale.
Question posed at roughly thirty seconds in: "Why would he have to bring the whales?"Just for those who may not know, whales live in the ocean, which is salt water. Whales depend on the salinity level of the water they live in. Any change in the salinity level would affect the whales, and of course all sea creatures. To say nothing of the fact that several hundred billion animal carcasses, as well as who know how many human carcasses, will be floating around in the sea, rotting. Contaminating the water the whales and other sea creatures live in. The sea creatures, and freshwater fish and mammals needed that ark as much as the land animals did. By the way, most of the plant life on earth would have been killed in the flood as well. Most terrestrial plants don't do that well under water, regardless of salinity content. If the water was saline, they do even worse. If you want to find this out, spray your garden plants with salt water every day for a year. So the flood waters were really a soup consisting of billions of animals and human carcasses floating around, and the residue from billoins of plants adding their own flavours to the mix.

I tend to accept the hypothetical view of the "water canopy" surrounding the earth; which would have been a crystal-clear ice/water barrier protecting the planet from UV and excessive radiation; it also would increase barometric pressure and allow for a much greater oxygen concentration. That would speak to longer life, larger creature and human size, robust oxygenation of the blood - *and* the possibility of no clouds (rain), as well as no rainbows since the sun's light was diffused within a golden sky (different light spectrum). it's also where the flood waters came from, along with the fountains of the deep.

When I get to heaven, there are some documentary movies I want to watch and how the ark, the animals and the flood mechanism all came together is one of them. I don't think there were rainbows before the flood. It would make no sense to have a rainbow, then flood the earth, and then say that the same rainbow is a promise not to flood the earth again. People would not have seen that rainbow as a strong promise if it had been seen before the flood, and it would have left more room for people to say well, He did it before and there was a rainbow beforehand. God made a big deal out of the rainbow that He put in the sky, and to this day, we believe God's promise. God is the God of the weather. He created the whole earth and the universe, and it is therefore not unthinkable that he would have changed the atmosphere to bring about rain for the first time, or to at least change some things so that a rainbow would shine. There is evidence of worldwide flooding - some archaeologists call it a flood while others just say that there used to be seas or ocean in that location. There are whale carcasses that have been found in the Sahara Desert for example.
It possible that the waters above the atmosphere (the Firmament), which was likely in the form of frozen water vapor, on the edge of space, would have affected the light levels coming down to lower levels. In other words, a thick, very high layer of clouds could have prevented sunlight from being bright enough to cause a rainbow. Rainbows and overcast skies don't go together.

Why would any skeptic not want people to watch this video? It does a good job demonstrating how a literal reading of Genesis is so indefensible, this is how bad an attempt to defend it comes across. You basically admit that the ark would have been too small for every animal by lumping together different species, genera, and even families to make broad "kinds" (that we can observe don't exist), meaning you need super-hyper-mega-uber-evolution to get all the species we have today, and you still need to go to the baby animals argument, which ignores the fact that it would take a lot of time to care for a baby animal, and it would put your labor needs on the arc way above 8 people. He then falsely claims that AiG uses inter-fertility as a criteria for "kinds" even though different genera of the same family often are not interfertile. He then says they err on the side of splitting when they don't know if groups are inter-fertile, which he knows isn't true because AiG regularly lumps non-interfertile groups into the same "kind." Why would skeptics not want people to watch AiG making a fool of itself?
You mention a part of the debate with Bill Nye(which was a great debate by the way I think anyone should watch the whole thing with an open mind). In another part of that debate he speaks about the speed at which the roughly 6000 kinds of animals on the ark would need to evolve at to create what we have now… it was astronomically fast and doesn’t really seem plausible yet we still have all these amazing animals. A similar point was also made with freeze cycles and how we would need hundreds of freeze cycles to get some of observations we currently have. How would your beliefs help explain this?

It's a bad idea since it's just a lie. Noah's Ark never happened and that fact is well-settled amongst every intelligent and rational person on the planet. The genetics don't work, the timeline does not work, the zoology does not work, the biology does not work, the meteorology does not work, he tried to make a joke of the whole how many animals on the ark thing, but the fact is you could not get all the species on earth into a boat or ship that size. That fact is settled and undeniable. @@2l84me8 Because the word "faith" that is used in the Bible doesn't mean "Blind belief in something for which you have no evidence" but instead means more along the lines of "Trusting in something when you don't know all the facets or information regarding something". For example, the first time you (or an atheist who believes in Darwinian evolution) were told in school about Darwinian evolution, you put faith (or trust) in the book and the teacher that the information therein was true and that the scientists that compiled the information together hadn't missed something, that their calculations where correct, etc. Even after studying evolution more and even getting a degree with a focus on this subject, you wouldn't say you know everything there is to know about the world history, genetics, evolution, etc. There's still aspects of various disciplines that you don't know. We have models for how neo-Darwinian evolution works and these models harmonise well with what we know about the universe from other fields of inquiry, this is why evolutionary biologists and palaeontologists often consult geologists, chemists and physicists for help identifying fossils and also why we can predict the types of fossils we’ll find, their age and where they would be located decades before it happens (tiktaalik comes to mind). Now Compare this to god. When We know nothing about how super nature works, no models that indicate how super nature influences nature and you can’t put god in a test tube or under a microscope. To say that accepting a falsifiable theory like neo-Darwinian evolution being the most likely explanation for the diversity of life, is just like accepting the existence of god, which isn’t falsifiable and no models that detail how this entity functions exist is dishonest to the Nth degree.
What about salt water creatures and fresh water creatures? The oceans were initially fresh but became saltier with time due to runoff from salt in the ground. Studies show the oceans are getting saltier every year. Some animals slowly became acclimated to salty water via natural selection (individuals which were tolerant to salt water continued on in the oceans) while other animals remained in fresh water. This is why bull sharks in Nicaragua live in fresh water while other sharks live in salt water.
Well you kinda answer your own question if you ask me. If the oceans were originally fresh water then all the water in the flood could have been fresh water which then started getting saltier after.. or it may not have been so salty that it would kill freshwater animals. I'm obviously not a scientist but there are several possible answers. Since none of us were there to test the water and we cannot test, observe or, repeat the process no one can provide a truly scientific answer.
Totally amazing that a team of modern engineers couldn’t prevent it from being damaged by… A flood… Totally amazing that the largest wooden ship ever built, the USS Wyoming sunk because there isn’t a way to make a wooden ship that size structurally sound enough to survive the forces it encounters at sea. @@wkinne1 But that isn't quite the issue. Differing theories as to how the world came to be don't have any bearing on the historicity of Noah's Ark. There are numerous problems with a literal interpretation of the story, including the weight problem, the capacity problem, the poo problem, the altitude problem (a flood that covered the highest mountains would expose the occupants to risk of freezing to death), the ecological problem (polar bears and penguins getting off the Ark at Ararat and surving?), the logistical problem (all animals in the world lived within walking distance of Noah's House?) and so on and so forth. There is also the fact that similar mythological stories exist in other cultures (such as Utnapishtim and Deukalion), a number of which have been shown to predate the Noah story. Of course, if you _don't_ take Noah's flood as literal, historic fact and choose to read it as allegory or metaphor instead, you don't have to worry about any of these problems, nor do you need to abandon your belief in God.

Was just at the Ark Encounter/Creation Museum with my church. It was the best. The lemur's at the Ark are so sassy looking and awesome with their tails up like they do. The garden at the museum was also a lot of fun and so pretty.

Only one thing I disagree With your take on the rain You said it might have rain before the flood, because the mist that watered the earth was out of context. To prove that it didn’t rain before the flood go to Hebrews 11 :7 Not Seen YET Waters of flood which in the form of RAIN Genesis 7: 12 Interpretation of waters of flood is RAIN . If Noah saw rain before God wouldn’t have said Not Seen Yet in Hebrews 11.
Well, the logic is not complete. Just taking it like that is somewhat misleading. Noah might have seen the rain before but he might not have seen *_SUCH A LOT OF RAIN!_* That's the possibility you do not cover by your interpretation. Also, the flood started with the fountains of the deep breaking open and spewing forth the waters underneath the earth - Noah certainly would not have seen that either so the verse might just as well have been referring to that...and so on and on. Not enough information to make a definitive statement regarding rain before the flood, unfortunately.

There is no aspect in which Noah’s ark is possible. Many, but not all, of the problems are to do with the sheer number of species on Earth. Many people try to get around this by talking about this in terms of vague “types” and assuming speciation would fill the gaps. This isn’t possible, though- evolution is simply too slow. We could implicate divine intervention in this process, but divine intervention could also render the entire ark pointless, so it’s a safe assumption that that’s not happening with repopulation. The Bible also explicitly claims the flood covered the highest mountains, so ‘local flood’ interpretations fall outside the scope of this post. The premise: The premise of the story itself has several flaws immediately, before the flood itself ever comes to pass. A. Size The Bible explicitly specifies the size of the Ark. It’s... not much, only about 50,000 cubic meters. I don’t think I have to explain how woefully inadequate a boat smaller than the Titanic would be to hold all of Earth’s species, and all their food and water for a year. B. Species acquisition Where’s Noah getting penguins and polar bears from? Kangaroos, beavers, everything from the Amazon, all the species on random islands scattered across the globe... he’d have to travel to every corner of the planet. Not to mention all the sea creatures he’d need- freshwater would no longer exist on Earth’s surface, and most or all sea animals would be wiped out by the drastic changes in salinity and pressure from the introduction of so much water. Where’s he even going to keep those? How will he reproduce the pressures they need on the ark? And speaking of water... C. The flood ...there might well not be enough on Earth. The vast majority of Earth’s water is already in the oceans, with one major exception- the mantle transition layer, estimated to contain 1-3 times the ocean’s worth. So combined, we have approximately 2-4 oceans’ worth of water. One ocean’s worth is around 1.37 billion cubic kilometers, so we have 2.74 to 5.48 billion to work with. But how much would we need for a global flood? Let’s take the average elevation of Earth. If we smoothed out all the land, this is the surface height we’d get- around 2400m below sea level. From this, we need to reach a height of 9km above sea level. We’ll use a sea-level radius of 6371km, so we need the volume of a 6380km sphere minus a 6368.6km sphere. That’s 5.8 billion cubic kilometers of water needed. Even the high estimate doesn’t quite make it. Though one could argue even deeper water may exist, it wouldn’t be possible for such water to surface without also surfacing extreme quantities of magma. 3. The events of the flood: Now we get to the flood itself. How will our impossible ship fare? A. Seaworthiness Noah’s ark was supposedly constructed entirely of wood, but this just doesn’t work out. We’ve never built a wooden ship that large, to this day. Even the largest mainly wooden ship, the Wyoming, was reinforced with large quantities of metal- and even then, the wood would deform in heavy seas and let water in, which had to be pumped out near-constantly. Noah didn’t have pumps. Noah’s ark would not be seaworthy, especially not in apocalyptic flooding conditions. B. Maintenance The ark had eight people on it: Noah, his wife, their sons, and their wives. Eight people simply wouldn’t be able to manage the feeding, waste disposal, and medical care of those animals. This is especially true when you consider that many animals would need to be kept in a precarious state, as there are parasite species that cannot survive without a host, and such infections would have to be deliberately managed. There’s also the matter of keeping the animals from escaping and killing each other. Modern zoos employ many more people for ludicrously less work. Even with the “kinds” interpretation, this would be unfeasible. I could bring up returning the animals to their ecosystems after the flood, but it would mainly require the same problems as getting them in the first place. I’m also leaving out problems not related to animals, like the destruction of plant life.

@colehenry151. In other videos with AIG, a more full description of kind is given. Please learn your taxonomic categories. The first category is a species. If an animal changes its species, that is not evolution. (Actually nothing is evolution.) For example, in our lifetime, we have seen new species of walking stick bugs. But guess what? They are walking stick bugs just the same, just a little different from their predecessors. They aren’t evolving into non-walking stick bugs. They’ve just changed a little. That is the story with species. You see a little change, enough change that they can’t breed with their former species, but they are still walking stick bugs or snowflake yeast or bacteria or whatever. The next category above species taxonomically would be family. Little cats and lions belong to the same taxonomic family, Filidae. Another word for kind, the scientific word, would be family, taxonomic family. Dolphins and whales belong to the cetacean taxonomic family. If you do your research, with an honest mind, you will see that animals do not move outside of their taxonomic families. They don’t “evolve” into new taxonomic families. They stay put. Evolutionists may make up stories about how this fossil’s, invisible and evidence free ,descendants moved into a different family, but you never see that happening in nature around you. Look around you. Cats are saying cats. Dogs are staying dogs. Fish are staying fish, apple trees are staying apple trees, bacteria are staying bacteria and bird are staying birds within their taxonomic families, no matter how much they change their species. The Bible never uses the word species. It seems to obviously be talking about taxonomic families when it says kind. Trust the Lord. And therefore his Word. I used to call myself an agnostic after I became a Christian. I was not afraid to examine everything that was being said in the Bible, based on archaeology, history and science and logic. The Bible always stands up if you do enough research.
I think it is great that skeptics are watching this channel. It's good that they are searching for answers. What bothers me is the antagonistic way they try to disprove what believers know as fact, not fantasy. The ark has been debunked by ken ham, it took millions of dollars to build it, took years to complete , and was made with technology and more than 8 people. And ken was denied animals because it’s was to dangerous for the animals to be there with all its ventilation .
Not try, prove. Noah's Ark, the great world wide catastrophic flood and many other elements of Genesis like the Exodus have been definitively disproved. Believing something is true is not tantamount to it being true. The Disney Channel makes no claims their films of fantasy are true, but that is quite different from Christian apologetics.
the evidence against the biblical creation story is voluminous and comes from many scientific disciplines. You can't know the Noah story as fact. Maybe the Gilgamesh epic is closer to the truth since it came earlier.

Firstly God cleansed the earth because every thought of the imagination was evil - filled with violence all the time. In other words the world was wicked and God JUSTLY destroyed the occupants. Secondly, it's a dire warning that GOD is serious about sin and that HIS ultimate destruction of sinners as predicted everywhere in the bible WILL take place. I have a question. Since Every creature regires water for life! If there were +/- 6700 animals alone, 1 gal. average per day = 6700 X 365 = 2,445,500 gals.! Where was this water stored? He had 1 sealed door below water line, 1 or 2 windows, no doors mentioned on deck or top...therefore he had to have on board for daily use before the door closed! Couldn't collect it in buckets held out the windows! Excrements from 6700 animals would have been impossible to deal with! Ark just happened to "rest" on a conveniently flat area 500 feet long...ON A MOUNTAIN?????Door magically opens and 6700 animals calmly walk down a mountain to end up 1000's of miles away in all directions. Millions of corpses everywhere. NO food source would have survived submerged for over a year! Story is a biblical version of the Epic of Gilgamesh in Sumerian times. Earth was NOT completely covered in 5 miles deep water entirely. Not possible. Bible speaks of giants before and after. How is that rational in any way? 8 billion today from 4 sets of parents only 4000 yrs. ago? No! At most 120 generations. example. Each father produces 100 in downline family in 100 yrs. so 100X 4 = only 400 in first 100 yrs. Cannot reach 8 billion in that short span.
The mountains were not that tall before the flood. When the fountains of the deep were broken open during the flood (a major tectonic event) the continents began shifting (sliding) to their current positions. Volcanoes would have begun erupting and the mountain ranges would have been uplifted to their present heights. The flood, with it's currents churning vast amounts of mud and rock, would have buried most of the dead (as we see in the vast dinosaur graveyards in the western US); and, after the entire year that it took before the floodwaters receded, those not buried would have rotted away. There actually *is* mention of an access point above water. Noah uses it when releasing birds from the ark (to see if they come back or can find a safe place to roost outside of ark). Fodder such a hay and preserved meat and seeds could have been stored on the ark. If most of the animals on the the ark were babies, or juveniles, then they would need less food and produce much less waste. A baby elephant or rhino is much less of a maintenance problem than an adult. Mountains *aren't* all sheer-sided vertical rockfaces. Mount Ararat (where the Bible says the ark landed) actually has many high valleys and broad, relatively level sections, were the ark could have easily been supported.
@@randlebrowne2048 And what happened to all the heat generated by the tectonic activity? It would have been enough to turn the earth into a ball of plasma. Most young animals need one or both parents until nearly mature. And some are mature in a year or less. Oops, didn’t think of that. Of course believers are prone not to think at all. Who was working the farm raising this vast quantity of food needed and how was it preserved while the guys were building the barge?
What about insects? They could have floated on lots and lots of debris and survived quite well. Insects survive through monsoons, tornados, hurricanes, etc. today while those disaster-affected areas do not suddenly experience insect extinctions. The insects come right back after such disasters. . Ants have been known to "raft" in the open seas on floating debris until they reach an island and only ONE mating couple is required to produce a colony.
Insects breathe through stomata, and so wouldn't be considered as having "breath in their nostrils". They would not be needed in the ark, even though they don't take up much space.

There is no way that some number of animals could leave any ark at one geographic location just several thousand years ago, magically transport themselves across oceans, (such as kangaroos and echidnas returning to Australia) and leave behind no offspring along the way. Then have a single family of middle easterners repopulate the planet AND generate the various phenotypes such as African blacks, Scandinavians, eastern Asians, Latinos, Inuits, pacific islanders, Aborigines, Pygmies, Mongols, Native Americans, etc AND populate the corners of the globe with completely different languages and cultures that don't have any references to said religious myth. But notice how they record Abraham dying at like 125 years old... In our modern society we take way to many things for granted. For example, the Bible. The Bible is the only book on earth that was written over a period of 4000 thousand years! Beginning with the book of Enoch at approximately 4000 BC pre flood, and leading up to the last book of Revelation by Apostle John the Revelator approximately 100 AD. Noah preserved the scrolls of Enoch on the Ark through the flood. Followed by the Books of Moses, Prophets, Judges, Psalms, and ending with the Apostles. Just imagine the painstaking process of preserving all of these writings by hand over the millennia! All the hard work by candlelight, persecution, war, fire, natural disasters, and erosion. Why would anyone go through such trouble? How is it possible that none of the books contradict each other? If fact the correlation between the first book to the very the last is absolutely astounding! Furthermore it is the only collection of writings on earth that depicts the past, present, and future with dead on accuracy! For the believer it is life! For the mocker it is a scorn! Not to nitpick, but I think the royal cubit had a logical basis and the measurement from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger was only an approximation for day to day use for applications which didn't need precision. The royal cubit is 20.5 inches, we think. 1/3600th of a nautical mile is about 20.25 inches (1/60th of a second of the earth's circumference).
The cubit measured on Hezekiah's tunnel would be on a normal sized human, but the pre-flood population were considerably bigger, as we see in some of the skeletons in museums around the world, of hidden away giant skeletons of over 8 feet tall. There are still some in display, but they don't fit the paradigm, so are not mentioned much.

@@brett1nita Ya... that is a bit of supposition with a dash of some conspiracy theory. Even if we assume the 17.5 cubit as measured once you also subtract the over-estimation they made just to keep critics happy the Ark would still have been of sufficient size.
The one issue that drives me over the edge is that almost all "ark reconstructionists" show it as a variant of a modern boat with a keel. Some even include a rudder. There is NO indication in scripture that the ark even remotely looked anything like what is being presented. The dimensions gjven could easily be that of a rectangular box, like the Ark of the Covenant.
Water going vessels are shaped as they are to a stand frontal, side and rear forces as well as torsional stress. Noah knew the Ark would ride the flood; The Ark would necessity be designed to withstand those forces.

One of the problems with your assertion, and that of several “scholars” that support the idea that the ark was built like a boat, is the fact that nothing in scripture gives ANY indication that Noah would have known anything about the forces that affect a boat. Some scholars claim his age would have given him enough time to gain knowledge, but they have to assume he was in a place where that knowledge would have been available. While the ark may have been designed to withstand the forces you mention, we have no indication that, therefore, it would necessarily have been built according to our current understanding - or even to the standards of the earliest sea-going vessels archeologists have found.

A misconception...that Noah's Ark had a bow & stern. There was no need for a bow or stern. That squared rectangle made secure to not tip over. The Ark was a rectangle box with no loss of cubic feet do to curves. The reason for no need of bow or stern was there was no direction for it to go nor was it designed to go somewhere, just to stay afloat. Where was Noah going to go...below deck with no rudder, nor propulsion. No land to go to because it was all was under water. GOD sat the Ark down where He wanted Noah to get off, after the waters had resided, and start over with the population (man & beast). Also, the dimensions of the Ark given to Noah are still used today on all ships.

According to Merriam-Webster, a “cubit” is an ancient unit of length. The operative word here being “ancient.” I pretty much doubt that design drawings for ships show dimensions in cubits and fractions of cubits.

A 510 foot vessel isn't all that big. It's less than half the size of an aircraft carrier, and a wooden vessel would require a lot of interior structures and framework, reducing available space. Then there's ventilation. A modern ship has elaborate air circulation systems, whose importance becomes instantly clear when there's a power outage. Then there's illumination, fresh water and waste disposal. . . the list grows. It just isn't plausible, even if you reduce the number of animals down to "only" 6000.

And they haven't even begun to estimate the space needed to store the food needed to meet the daily need of those 6000 for 150 days. More than 2/3rds of the storage would be needed just for food.
Can we please stop pretending that the Ark story is historical fact? It is fitting that he compared it to Goldilocks, another fairy tale that serves it's purpose without pretending there is historical evidence to support it. I would think there would have been far fewer species back in the days of Noah. If there is a ratio of species and kinds today, we could probably assume in the days of Noah the ratio of kinds and species would have been much smaller.

It takes less faith to believe in a sovereign God that created the earth and every living thing here, that put the Sun the exact distance from the earth so we would’nt burn up or freeze to death, that created gravity so we don’t go spinning off into space, etc, etc, than it takes to believe that this is all just a happy accident and that all living things evolved from one cell. That is way more far fetched than an Ark filled with animals and a world wide flood for which there is a lot of evidence.
Good video. A few extra things to think about ☺️ People have DNA tested several animal kinds and found they each come from a single pair. (Dogs, bears, and cats.) Including all domestic and wild ones. The word for box being used for different things isn't so unusual. Coffin used to refer to any kind of box, including pie crusts. (Look up 18th century cooking) It's where the old english term of keeping money in coffers came from. But video is a little fast so it's kinda hard to follow. Like someone had condensed the run time to make it shorter. Would have preferred a longer video with normal speed.

Many of the dinosaurs in mesozoic rock are in a choking pose (their necks bent back)- choking on mud and water?. Many, many mass fossil 'graveyards', where the bones are essentially filtered, with the heaviest at the bottom, and the smaller, lighter ones at the top- maybe lots of water is the suspect. Fossils (even herds) often found without any young (unexpected for evolution)- maybe the adults were running from something, such as a global flood? Nearly all dinosaur tracks pointing in the same direction- North- dinosaurs running (probably to higher ground) from something in particular? Also, dinosaur claw scratches showing that they swam- or were forced to swim?When evolutionists explain how animals died (that are found mineralized), nearly every explanation has some water event. Whopper sand. Almost every civilization (post-flood) has stories that seem exactly like the biblical flood. Unconformities in the geological column being usually thin and small are exactly as predicted if the flood was true. The fossil record is according to ecological zones (inundation starting with sea floor creatures, then general ocean creatures, then estuaries, then swamps, etc. creating the illusion that animals evolved over time from sea floor creatures). Same sediment layers on every continent (assuming that the flood made most of the geological column-global). Very large coal deposits (far off and on-shore). Ultra-low velocity zones, giving evidence for rapid subduction. Evidence of water flow in strata. There's so much more I could say. I hope this evidence excited you.

Like prey? Or they were jogging. Claw scratches on what? Rock? Could they just be digging for something? There was water where it's not anymore but that doesn't mean it was the flood. The water came from clouds like it does, today. The water also came from reservoirs deep under the ground as the continents moved apart. There are scientists that have noticed that the continents are still drifting apart and who teach this theory. The water eventually dissipated and we now have the water in the oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams; the water is also evaporating, condensing, and providing precipitation as we see in a continuous cycle.

As a Confessional Lutheran, I'm fascinated by the validation of the literal text interpretation of Genesis. As an aside, I'm also fascinated by the fact that in light of this literal interpretation, Evangelicals seem to adamantly oppose literal interpretation once we get to the Sacraments for some strange reason.
I cant see the previous comment, but wdym by sacraments in this case? For example, local ev. lutherans believe in child babtism, that has zero mentions in the Bible, less so "2 or 3 witnesses" together. Also they think the Bible is only a secondary source for faith, and their church literature is primary...
Yeah because a literal interpretation doesn't mean metaphors and idioms don't exist. See evangelicals actually read and study the Bible so they know what it says and therefore don't fall for things that Catholics and others do called "proof text". For example when Catholics deny the core tenets of Christianity under the guise of sacraments by using a single miscontextualized verse.

I just think it was a miracle. Can't be explained with our reasoning. Just like Jesus feeding 5000 men with a few loaves of bread and a few fish. Pure miracle...just like the Ark. Probably not enough space to hold all animals...but God made it work through a miracle.
