You should, its a great thing to do. I love ballpoint though. people can do some amazingly varied things with ballpoint.

Thanks so much. Honestly im pretty blown away it has this many views anyway! Definitely will be posting more. Honestly it depends. sometimes I can close it after a couple of days, sometimes I have to wait a week. It depends on the temperature, the pigments used, and how much gesso. I have a sketchbook with ONLY oil paintings in it, and the only trouble ive had is when two oil painting pages are pressing against each other. That does seem to cause them to stick and peel off. Its not totally uninteresting though. Its good to lose some control sometimes. Thanks again!

Because this isnt a watercolour sketchbook the paper will warp if you use too much water, so I just use watercolour for little bits of colour over a drawing. Less is more

Hey thanks for the comment. Yeah I usually do seal it (but not always). I just use some gesso or some transparent acrylic primer. I dont plan it out in advance - just maybe the day before ill prime it. Let it dry overnight and then paint in it the next day. Often i will be trying out new sealing techniques too. Its a sketchbook so its for experimenting 🙏

Thanks so much. I dont think EVERY page is good though. Also worth noting some of the pages I painted over etc. A lot of the time the reason why i do an oil painting in the sketchbook is to cover something that didnt work out! I dont want to set a standard though. I think sketchbooks should be as curated or as messy as you want them to be. Your sounds good. Keep at it!

Yeah i usually gesso the pages (although sometimes i go raw). I have a few sketchbooks on rotation so ill just use another one for a week until its touch dry. I have another video actually talking about this 👀

Its a Moleskine Art Sketchbook. You should be able to find them easily. I didnt know the weight but I googled it for you and its apparently 165gsm. Its pretty good, but it can only take so much wetness. You have to be pretty light with anything water based. no watercolour wet in to wet paintings for sure.
