Now that I have left Adobe in the dust, there are a few areas that Adobe still has me and that is the Substance suit for making 3D textures that can actually be saved as a single exportable preset-like file and the ability to texture 3D models. I would say that it would be great to have a premiere pro replacement, but there are so many other possible video editors out there that I don't think I would sweat Affinity for that, but if Affinity could ever integrate a way to texture 3D models or even build a whole new app just for that, I would love that! I'm on-board with what Affinity is doing and I would love to see it continue to grow!
If affinity takes suggestions, many people would still like a true high end beauty and portrait retoucher to make a creative video with affinity photo.
I am loving this software, it's getting good. I too am looking for a Photoshop replacement. I do miss Kyles lasso fill plugin for PS. I use Clip Studio Paint specifically because of the lasso fill tool.
Quite nice, but I would have appreciated more focus on the interface, especially the reasons behind the extra layers I kept seeing pop up and sometime disappear. I understood the advantages behind the clipping layer, but his progress was so lightning fast it was hard to see what he was actually doing with the software.

I was wondering if you could go into some detail about how you color the characters -- in particular, how are you keeping confined to the outline of the character? Like at 14:51 - did you just color that carefully or is there some trick to staying in the lines? And at 14:52 you put in a color palette but by the end of the painting it's disappeared. Is there some other way of saving your palette? I always forget that I'm on color swatch layer and start painting in the swatch layer after picking my color. Finally at 14:55 I was surprised when you put the light on the bottom -- in a 3d program you would put the light at the top. So evidently I don't understand how the lights in Photo work. Thanks for sharing - I learned to stay looser, flip more often (ctrl-F) and I need to figure out how to turn on the stabilizer on the pen tool. Thanks!
I already own ALL of the Affinity software. But I'm still struggling to transition over from Adobe for my work... Videos like this really do make me believe I can match or even exceed the quality of my Photoshop painting in Affinity Photo. And I'm looking to cut Adobe out of my life very, VERY soon.
I know you sayd that it was a normal round Brush but did you used size pressure? It looks like you dident use size pressure is that right? I love the quality of the line.
Question: How do you rotate the canvas using only a pen tablet? kind of hard just to go to View and rotate bit by bit until you get the desired angle. This is easy for people using screen tablet and the Ipad.
Hey, doesn’t shrinking your sketch with the transform tool in essence change the line width you’re using? So if continue to draw with your brush, your new lines won’t match the same width as the transformed ones…? Just something annoying I get a lot with any raster program like Photoshop.
Hi, I’m new to digital art and am finding it very hard to do compared to paper, I bought a huion tracing pad for my pc but find it really weird as I can’t see my hand whilst drawing, do you use a mouse or pad?
I would also love to see an After Effects replacement from Serif. I would instantly move all my workflow over if this were the case! Easier said than done of course developing and managing software is difficult I imagine. But letting them know the demand for this thing is here is positive.
Why are you drawing in affinity photo instead of affinity designers pixel persona? I wanna know wich of them is best to draw in since there is a sale right now
Hi, you can draw with raster brushes in both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo, both are great for that - if you want to also draw with vector tools you will need Affinity Designer though.
Love this video from a learning perspective From an audio perspective, I'd suggest muting the speaker unless he is actually speaking. Lots of little mouth movements and drinking noises coming through
LOVE your style and work but redrawing the same lines over and over until you get them right seems a bit inefficient and a time suck to me. gonna stick w inking with real pens for now.
