Do you mean algebra or linear algebra? They are somewhat different. Linear algebra as taught in MATH1131 and MATH1231 are very important subjects, essential for physics, engineering, chemistry, economics and many other areas of mathematics, particularly calculus of more than one variable, geometry (algebraic and differential), analysis and many areas of applied mathematics and statistics. There is hardly any subject taught at a modern university which has a wider range of applicability to the modern technical world than linear algebra.
