I have a question for you, as I am thinking of spending my money on one of these as a first car. I heard that maintaining the 4th gen LS can be incredibly expensive, primarily the control arms, suspension and the brakes. Would this make a good first car? I have to pay the cost, so I don't want to get into something that will cost me a fortune, but at the same time I have been looking for a reliable V8 highway cruiser.
Maybe consider LS430. I have the LS460 and had to replace the control arms for $2k to pass inspection. Now I don’t need to worry about it, but the Lexus tech said if I want a similar car with less repair costs in the long run, trade it for a 05-06 LS430. Mine is a ‘08 460 with 61k miles, immaculate condition, previously one owner and I LOVE this thing. I’m in a situation where I can afford to put aside a few thousand as a future repairs savings, so I’m gonna keep it. If your budget is tight, I’d consider the 430. But if you can make it work with the 460, you’ll be happy too

Why would they impound your car? I thought you had to be driving under the influence, impeding traffic, have unpaid tickets or somehow be threatening safety of others by driving it. You can get impounded for tint and registration in your state? Also, I don’t understand why we need to have all that crap when we’re pulled over when they can see everything on their computer in the cruiser. All they really need is your ID and insurance.
