I wish I had seen this videos last week! It took me a WAY too long to try and wing-it taking the hood off on my ‘23 Lynx, haha. Once I figured it out, it’s actually pretty easy. I had to change my plugs (had to remove the rubber Y pipe section also), and she’s back to roaring again!

Hey Steve thx for all your videos, why do you take off the grab handle n put on the bar pad? Jus gets in way for aggressive riding? I’ve taken mine off when I raced the 146” a couple times lol, ur gunna need some rail braces haha , got 2 gen 5 free rides a 146 and a 54” turbo my first one!, so I’m pretty excited and these videos are truly so helpful n appreciated, for saving time n knowledge Got a break in ride last weekend on my46 trail rippin sled seems pretty killler can’t wait to put them in the deep!! Cheers RZ

Thats awesome! the 146 is going to be killer! I take it off because I run an aftermarket 3" riser, and the bolt holes don't line up, i would use it to roll the sled over, i think when you're riding through the trees it causes crashes

I like it but I'm still surprised Doo hasn't made a tooles removal hood, have we all forgot about the days of 2 rubber straps holding the whole hood done. We have the technology hahaha 😆 fit n finish is top notch as always.

thats pretty much the same as gen4 trail…. not “considerably easier” - its 6 screws on the gen 4 and its off. was the mountain gen4 more complex than that?

8 screws. 2 on each side, 2 to take off gauge and 2 under gauge assembly. Plus loosening Phillips screw for air vent

You clearly didn’t watch the video… it’s 4 screws and two plugs… keep your negativity in your basement!

This right here is exactly why I am going with Polaris. Even with the entire front removed you still can barely see the spark plugs. I've blown too many plugs on trails in the middle of nowhere and the last thing I want to do is disassemble the entire sled to change them.

I understand what you’re saying, but I’ve never had to change a spark plug on a stock e tec, they’re even covered under warranty

You dont have to on a etec, I've never blown a plug during my 15 years riding ski-doo 😅

And if its a 4 stroke, first plug change is at 20k miles

Wish it was as easily as a Polaris hood… but it has to be easy on a poo because you will be under it all the time…

Haha 😂. True. The Gen 5 hood is super easy to remove though

Totally ridiculous, the engineer that designed that should be left on the trail at minus 25 degrees with the stock tool kit and made to change the plugs or freeze

Why in the hell wouldn’t they replace the torque bolts with quarter turns?!? Using any tool on the hill sucks.
