I drive a Backcountry 2022 600 Efi. I go caribou hunting and wolf hunting all winter. My Skidoo is my lifeline. There's no certified Brp dealer where I live, your videos are 100% helpful to learn Skidoo maintenance. Thank you!! 💯💯

nice video; watching these makes doing things myself look easy lol;

I'm not a mechanic, and I can get it done. I'd suggest reading through the installation instructions carefully, then mentally visualize every step of the project. If every step seems clear to you and you have the right tools, then go for it! Just take your time and double-check everything.

I hope BRP are paying you for these excellent DIY videos, love them! Did you notice the washer that flew away at 2:23?

Thanks Mikael, I'm glad you find the videos helpful! If you want to help me build this channel, it would be great if you could Subscribe and share these videos with like-minded snowmobilers! Washer: Yeah, I noticed it and reinstalled it properly. But thanks for pointing it out: had I not noticed, I'd be in for an unpleasant surprise this winter! I haven't received any payment or any other form of sponsorship from BRP. All products and equipment in these videos is paid for personally. Except the FLIR DM285 Multimeter with integrated Thermal Imager from the Summer Storage Procedure video: FLIR Systems sent me that and it's truly an awesome tool! Why would you not just jack up the front end instead of turning it on its side?
@mop1471
@mop1471 2 года назад
It's easier to lay it on its side than to get my jack out. Also, on its side, the ski is raised up to chest height making it convenient to work on.

I have a 2019 Expedition Sport, do these come stock with DS2? Also, would you recommend the DS2 or ski skins? Most of my riding is off trail
@mop1471
@mop1471 9 месяцев назад
I've never had ski-skins on this Expedition, but I've tired them on a Tundra. Different experience: the skins won't sink at all because they're super-wide. The DS2 will sink, which can be helpful in some situations. If you intend to tip your sled on its side to get through difficult terrain, DS2 is better. If you're going to keep your sled upright, with both skis on the ground, ski-skins all day.

I'm sure there are other ways, but the clamp worked for me!

how do these perform on the trails? Are they dartie by chance?
@mop1471
@mop1471 3 года назад
It's a brand new machine, with brand new carbides. Other riders have called it 'darty', but I just call it 'new'. Skis grab the snow well. Need to lean into the curves a bit. I was able to control it with precision and keep up with the guys riding faster than I typically do, if that's what you're asking.

Great video! Do u have the part # for the ds2 rubber stopper?
@mop1471
@mop1471 3 года назад
The rubber pad that sits in the ski below the axle is called the Ski Stopper. P/no: 505072594. Double check with your dealer to make sure it’s the right part for your sled!

Do you have the ultra high windshield also?
@mop1471
@mop1471 3 года назад
The sled came with the ultra-high windshield, but it was about 1" too tall for my low-overhead covered storage! So I replaced it with the "high" windshield. My ultra-high was only on the sled for about 3 days and will be for sale next fall.
@Gendronk

@@mop1471 we were thinking about getting the medium hight the ultra high is right in the line of sight not sure how much lower the high is
@mop1471
@mop1471 3 года назад
I wanted to compare medium vs high, but my dealer said not to switch to medium because it would require extra parts. I think the windshield support for high & ultra-high are the same part, but you need to switch the support and windshield if you drop down to a medium. The Expedition also includes side-deflectors and I don't know that they would fit the medium windshield supports (they might, I just don't know.) Point is: you can drop from ultra-high to high without changing any other parts. The high windshield is about 2" lower, and it's also narrower than the ultra-high. Visibility was great with either one, I just switched because the machine wouldn't fit in my covered storage with the ultra-high.

I go out of my way to find full metric sets, ‘cause every vehicle I work on is metric. Strangely, some replacement parts I get from the local parts store have imperial fasteners.
