So cool what some people invent, great little tool for tightening & aligning the track! Best words spoken after a job... "We have no pieces left." LOL. Great job Gary & Drew!!! Go grab a cold Molson. Cannot wait for the next Monday Night Session! Cheers boys.

The only problem I had with this video is that all though you didn’t mess with the secondary or primary you didn’t check for the proper belt deflection and how high it sits in the secondary. And I’m sure I’m not the only person that will say this but never leave your “tool” sit in the clutch cover it’s a disaster waiting to happen. Leave it in your glove compartment. Much safer and way less chances of destroying a primary or secondary clutch! Other than that it was a great video! I watch generally all of them!

the belt was changed and deflection was set during my pre season checkup and maintenance and u can see its perfect when we take the belt off. But, you make a good point, i could have shown to check that after. And the clutch tool is a good tip. Although i haven’t have any problems ever, i have seen posts where the tool fell out and made a mess. I often wonder if it wasn’t put back the right way to fall out. No one in my pack has run into issues but it is a good tip. Thanks for watching

Drive axle bearings usually last to around 8k miles, should be good for a while. The bearing behind the secondary usually goes first. That type of track tension tool is the best from my experience. The track will align perfectly. @@mudbrats

Nice job! Looks like Ski doo did a lot of r&d on how that Axle, brake rotor and chain case go together. So much different than my old rev. It's basically the same as the Elan. 😂 That track tool is slick!

The gen5 is better design as you don’t need to take the chaincase apart....

Sidenote, on that track adjustment tool. If you want to know how far to set the adjustment from the line, push it on a scale, and find out where your proper tension needs to be and adjust accordingly. Happy riding!
@mudbrats
@mudbrats 5 месяцев назад
you dont need to, theres a formula in the instructions.
@justflylow
@justflylow 5 месяцев назад
@@mudbrats maybe they added the formula since I bought mine. I know there was a difference on which way you put the aluminum block on it and it describes that. Well I am sure you did it right.

Nice job on the track replacement! I have one of those track adjustment tools. I believe you said they are called ISAT. Check your owners manual on the setting for the tension. Mine said it needs to 1 1/4 inch at 13 to 19 pounds. So I ran it right up to the line and not any further. I also use a tape measure to find the mark on the tool for setting the depth. Just remember to allow for the change in the spring tension on the mark. Or rather where it will end up when it’s at the right tension. Nice video guys.
@mudbrats
@mudbrats 5 месяцев назад
yes, i did say its called iSat in the video. Judging by the comments its sounds like he’s updated the one i have. He has washers on the shaft - thin ones for 1/8” and thicker ones for 1/2” or 1” distance so you dont need a measuring tape. Track tension on a ski-doo is 1 1/2”-2” at 16lbs. Using the formula in his instructions, that makes it 1 3/4” to 1 7/8” which is what we set. To double check it, we used the 2024 137” and out the tool in the same place on the track and it was perfect.

@@mudbrats yes every snowmobile might be a little different. I was highlighting that people should check their operators manual. On page 233 in mine and it’s clearly states that the deflection is 1.26 inches with a tension of 13 to 19 pounds. It gives a little bit of leeway in the tension. Excellent tool though and I highly recommend it. It will get the tension perfect and it will track absolutely true. Everyone I have set has been spot on. I wish I could use it on my motorcycle.
@justflylow
@justflylow 5 месяцев назад
@@mudbrats i did figure out why the numbers you used seemed off. There is a formula to calculate how much space you need for your track that calculates the proper tension needed for your track using the 20 lb spring. This all makes sense now. I must have missed your explanation about this in the video. I do think this is the best and easiest way to get the proper tension and alignment. I recommend this tool to anyone who rides snowmobiles.

May have already been commented on but wouldn't it be good measure just to change bearings and anything else while you're there so you don't have to get into it again

you would have to take it to a mechanic or dealer - its likely the sensor or something like that. Sorry i have no clue.

Thankyou! We have had a late start to the season and a few mechanical problems that ended our rides before the sun set 😫 We did ride home In the dark on Tuesday, but it was also freezing rain so the night footage is limited. Keep doing your snow dance and we will get some night footage out soon!
