A Colorado skier identified as Dallas Lebeau, 21, tried to jump 40 feet over U.S. 40 but did not reach the other side. FOX31's Greg Nieto visits the site and hears from locals who knew him.

I don't think this particular incident was like that. Dallas Lebeau was a professional freestyle skier who had competed professionally for several years. He had a lot of experience and he had apparently spent a month planning that jump. It wasn't just a random decision or showing off for friends. I don't know exactly what happened, and I'm not saying what he did was wise, but let's not condemn the guy based on assumptions without knowing the facts.

Someone with poor decision making skills where you see what the "think" they can do and you know there is little chance this dude lives to be an old man. People do that on the Beartooth but you’re jumping from the high side to the low side over a couple lanes, much more doable than this location. You have to take physics into account too. You have to know your speed and trajectory on takeoff to even see if it’s mathematically possible to clear that distance. You can tell by how these guys talk they obviously don’t think about that.

I don't blame them. They secretly wish they could live as intensely as this guy and doing exactly the things that they want to do in life, without regret. But all they can do is cope with this repressed desire for excitement by means of cringy Wiley Coyote and Darwin Award jokes or straight up hate. Pretending that their life has meaning and importance, pretending they aren't just living out a ridden-out stiff personality archetype a trillionth time from the inception of the universe, if there even was such an event to begin with. I would not expect anything more from human beings.

@@Theonetruegod-hw2ei Sorry, no. I was not using war as a metaphor. The elderly do not fight well due to aging. So the edict, don't use old people as soldiers, holds in any example of war anyone was interested in winning, which appear to be concomitants of the concept.
