I'll add a couple. You can win the Recumen and Grendel gigas fights normally with a ton of patience or using cheats. The fights end the same way though with no extra rewards. The regular cutscenes simply trigger anyway.
It's always bothered me that the GC version's audio was desynced more than it was lower quality. Pirate's Wrath is almost a full 3 seconds out of sync with the visuals. I like the GC version's extra content but I have a soft spot for the DC original, excess sky battles and all.
Fina actually isn’t a recruit able character in Valkyria Chronicles. She is in the game. But only as a medic Also the Bios do Vyse and Aika heavily imply that the ones in VC and the ones in Skies of Arcadia are the same people. And as another bonus, if Vyse walks up to Aika when she’s knocked down. He’ll say “Aika Baby”
Vyse & Aika are not exactly the same, but rather a version of them if they have been born in Galia. As for them being a couple... don't remeber their after-war profile update pointing them doing the same thing. Something else on Fina is that she's one of three sister medics
Did anyone else save the Captains Stripes from the Little Jack ship Boss fights, and save them to upgrade the health of the Delphinus? Really makes the late game ship boss fights much easier.
To say the gamecube audio for the tracks is bad is an understatement. I have the original OST a long time ago and still do. The Dreamcast ones are literally superior.
I think Elcian is a black looper, because Galcian had something to do with the Black Moon. When you find the discovery of the Black Moonstone, it says it converts negative energy to positive, and vice versa. I'm pretty sure this is how Galcian turned Ramirez evil. Ramier even has a line about his "Sword of the Dark Moon". The Dark Moon is most likely responsible for the Dark Rift. And Galcian had ties with the Dark Moon. Hence why his Looper soul is sent there. You can fight him over and over again as well. So i guess that implies some kind of immortality. Either way: The influence of the Dark Moon is felt, but never talked about.
Interesting theory! The dark moon stuff was always so mysterious, it feels like they were planning on expanding upon it in a sequel that never happened
I've beaten this game probably 4 times. Of those 4 times, I 100% completed it only once. Worth it in the end? For me, yes, but for most people, probably not lol.
Incorrect on GameCube having a lower encounter rate. No idea where this rumor ever started (did Sega say this?) but recently speed runners have been testing the encounter rate plus the idea with it that rewards and exp from fights have been adjusted along with it. The first few battles you get more exp and magic points on GameCube and that’s all. The rest is exactly the same as Dreamcast. The Black Map and White Map also change the encounter rate in the exact same way as Dreamcast as well.
There's another small detail missing from the gamecube version that was in the original dreamcast version. When you acquire the little jack, the engine room is noisy until you steal Belleza's engine from her airship. Then, the engine room is quiet. In the gamecube version, there never is any noise in the little jack's engine room.
God, the Valkyria designs of Vyse and Aika look like they've had their souls removed... which I suppose they would feel that way, going from pirate to military dog, so that checks.
I would love the all extra content from the GC version with the audio quality and encounter rare of DC version. Yeah, not joking about the encounter rate. I was grinding as hell in the DC version to win all bosses in a breeze
