In todays adventure I summit and ski Colorado's highest peak, Mt Elbert (14,439′). This was my first time up Elbert and even with horrific skiing couldn't ask for a better day to stand atop my new home state. Mt. Elbert is also the second highest peak in the lower 48 behind Mt Whitney.
I started from the South Elbert 4WD parking lot and climb up was smooth and easy minus stronger than forecasted winds. The snow never warmed up so the skiing conditions were variable but the adventure and views were incredible and overall was an awesome day.
