Looks Amazing! How gnarly was the road?

It is a bumpy one for sure, but I did it in a Subaru Outback, kept the speed to a crawl and it was fine. But, I would factor in 20-30mins each way from the paved road.

This one of the driest mountain ranges in the US. The Sierra Nevada Mountains block storms and often times the White Mountains only get flurries. Its high and cold enough for snow but it usually just has thin patchy snow cover. Good powder days are rare and skiing it is a feat.

Thanks! We certainly love those rare powder days. The drier the range, the sweeter the snow.

Yep. You have to! It may never be like that again in our lifetimes. We've been doing the same. Hitting everything you can see that you've wanted to ski that's in. Let the known go. Go for the unknown.....Yowza!!!!

Perfect way to sum up the season, "go for the unknowns"

@@skiingthebasin I read an article about your Moment set up. It pointed out some very relevant ideas around what skis and bindings to use in realistic situations, especially skiing the basin. Your Moment set up seems ideal. Don't need super wide skis in general because when do you ever get deep, perfect powder in the Basin? This year's been exceptional and there have been many great powder days but the deepest we've found so far has been in the 2-1/2 to 3 foot range. And as the article pointed out, most of the time we're going to be skiing variable conditions. So riding a narrower ski seems best. I ride Bent 100's and have never come across conditions that they can't handle. Also, you guys are going full on Basin by repping the local ski company which definitely gives you more Slog Lord cred. At least the Bent's are designed and ridden by a local heavy but definitely drawn to the Moment. Wouldn't it be cool to have the stars align and we run into each other? Who knows how many roam the Basin but obviously limited.

@@tonylewis1803 from what I hear the Bents are a great all-around ski, seems like a great choice for mixed-conditions adventure skiing. My Deathwish Tours (184) continue to blow my mind. Hands down the most fun and capable ski I have ever been on. They are my go to for 99% of the skiing I do, with the one exception of big-vert spring tours/traverses on firm snow, but I have the Sierra Tours for those days. Much easier for the stars to align if they make a plan haha. Maybe this spring we could meet up somewhere in the sage. The folks at the Moment factory are pretty rad, if you are ever in Reno and looking to add to your quiver I do recommend giving them a visit!
