About Tignes Val d'Isere ski resort:
The ski resort Tignes Val d'Isère is located in the Tarentaise (France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Savoie Mont Blanc, Savoie, Albertville). For skiing and snowboarding, there are 300 km of slopes and 20 km of ski routes available. 82 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between elevations of 1,550 and 3,456 m.
Tignes and Val d'Isère are connected by lifts and slopes to form one of the largest ski resorts in France. The winter sports resort was previously called Espace Killy. It is located on the upper end of the Isère Valley. The ski resort and its slopes are partially located on glaciers. The Grande Motte Glacier in Tignes also attracts skiers in the summer.
The winter sports resort at the foot of the Pointe du Montet (3,428 m) and the Grande Motte (3,656 m) offers slopes of all difficulty levels for skiing and snowboarding. It is also considered a paradise for freeriding. The men's skiing competition for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics was held in Val d’Isère. The ski resort also regularly hosts World Cup races.

I love the Val d’Isere and Tigne area. I now live in the USA and I miss skiing in the French Alps terribly. 😞 Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ivo, great video, evokes memory of my only run there in 2004.You and your Russian speakindg friends are very good skiers. Kudos !Do you have videos of Mt Gele in Verbier ? That could be fun to watch. BTW , i heading to Tignes in March , hopefully weather is ok then . Thanks again , Ivo !

Thank you so much for the videos. We haven't been able to go skiing since 2018 and are desperate to go back to Val d'Isere for about the 10 - 15th time (not sure how many but lots of times). We're going in 4 weeks time and can't wait. Your videos bring back so many memories and reminders, especially Sache, Pisaillas and Face. When was the last time you were in Val? Cheers :-)

Поздравляю, хороший выбор! Большое разнообразие трасс на любой вкус. Главный совет: вставайте пораньше, чтобы как можно больше откатать с утра, т.к к обеду всё разбивается. Французы и так готовят трассы без фанатизма, некоторые могут через день, особенно в снегопады, т.ч. надо ловить. Если уверенно стоите на лыжах, обязательно стоит попробовать "Потерянную долину" - уникальный опыт катания среди скал, только осторожно, с головой. Ну, и разумеется, знаменитая олимпийская чёрная "Фейс" - её в хорошо подготовленном состоянии трудно поймать, то лёд, то сугробы, но попытайтесь. Для новичков есть отдельная зелёная зона - кстати, вот Вам лайфхак: эти трассы вполне неплохие, и не разбиваются до самого вечера, т.ч. когда все остальные уже разбиты, там вполне себе неплохо можно покатать. Great video! On difficulty - how does it compare to Face? I am in Val d’Isère this week and not sure if I can hack it

Thank you! It has a few really steep sections at beginning and end, most of the time ungroomed, the middle part is pretty much flat and easy. I think the Face is better as it's much wider and more consistent, and it is groomed frequently, but can be icy sometimes. If you are a good skier, go for both ... at least once ... :)

You seem to have missed the lower section down through the trees. Did you bail out?

Yea, the camera stopped a little bit too soon .. :) Actually, the lower section is a red piste called "pavot". Check one of my previous videos with a full run ... 😀👍

Interesting to see that Marais chairlift there, which is gone nowadays, making the way back up to Aguile Percee quite an odyssey, unfortunately.

Frankly, this chairlift was a nightmare - old, slow, long and cold af. I rode it once and never wanted again ... almost frozen to death ... :) But I agree returning to Aguille Percee is more challenging now. Thanks! ... :)

@@ivokoimecs Hehe yeah, I totally see what you mean, the big problem is, the remaining Aguile Percee lift also is a very slow (non-decoupling) chair. Still a pretty cool area of the resort and hopefully one day there'll be newer replacements for the lifts (both applies to Col des Ves likewise).
