@@matthewschmid565 Yeah, stowe does that, the steepest part of National is the top as well, and they close it. There a lot of videos on that one as well where they enter through the drop in.
"this thing just keeps going. it's a long ass run." lol yup! the first ~100 yards or so is super steep. then it's like the longest mogul field I ever skied. it's weird that not using poles throws me even though I barely see your hands! 😆
Yeah, the upper part was closed so I can’t imagine what an endurance run that would’ve became if I had been able to ski that. Never used poles, never seen a benefit lol.
@@matthewschmid565you didn't miss much. I don't know about Goat and the others of the Big Four, but Upper Starr (when I did it) wasn't really fun. It was wind-swept/icy with no snow to turn in. you just criss crossed the narrow-ish trail a few times...MAYBE getting enough snow/powder near the sides to do a couple quick turns...then back to criss crossing. the pitch was crazy steep though...but not very long. thanks for the vids, btw. Mansfield looks about the same as 30 years ago. 😃
