More of Jillian Vogtli! We all remember how great she was as a teenager at Holiday Valley NY, growing up skiing a 500 vert bump hill. Lucas, you're on to something...you are good..she's great. You two have reached 20,000 of us in just 3 days. Not all of us can fit Deer Valley into the schedule, but we CAN click on you and Jillian! Give us MORE of "Skiing with a Champion". Great job!
All the follow clips behind Jillian were incredible. It makes it really easy to see how incredible talented Olympic-level skiers are (and how easy they make it look). She was absolutely blasting down those runs without even trying. This is one of my favorite videos to date. Keep it up, Lucas - you're CRUSHING this epic ski season so far!
This two parter mini series on DV is one of the best you've done so far. Great stuff with skiing with a Champion...and she giving free ski tips to us all as a bonus. You one lucky dude to score all kinds of benefits as a content provider. First tracks with the DV rep and now this one with Jillian. Wow, what a life ! And you really work hard in setting up all your shots, especially when you have to go back and retrieve your camera on the ground. Very creative work you do. Love watching your stuff...Aloha!
massive thank you to Deer Valley Resort for an incredible two days of hospitality! from the beautiful Trails End lodge, to their Ski with a Champion program right up to an amazing dinner at the Fireside - this was truly a special trip that felt like a big reward from all the work that has been put into the channel. this is a long video, so feel free to use the timestamps in the description to jump around to the sections you're interested in!
Wow dude I’m so stoked for you. My family has had a place in DV for 30+ years, it is an all around top notch establishment. I didn’t realize it but I was out there the same time although I think I was at the bird for the day (another top notch place for different reasons though lol). I must say that Olympian you skied with rips!!!! Her technique was totally next level. So cool you got to follow her around for a half day or so. I know that would have seriously elevated my technique. You are definitely living the dream bruddah, so fun to follow your journey. Keep it up 🔥🔥🔥
Your tree runs were still epic, with a few moments close to scary. I will be working on this in Aspen in early March. Jillian on the moguls and carving in general... THAT technique I will need to work on (copy) because that was toite (tight) as all heck.
Another entertaining video with top-notch professional quality! So much content variety in a single episode...Deer Valley experience. Utah pow and Olympian ski tips!...
The video quality just keeps getting better and better. I just picked up some skis to learn with my 7 year old. Been a snowboarder my whole life so it is a fun change. Can't wait to actually enjoy moguls 😆
Amazing video! Been following you for a long time and each and every video gets better. Quick question: what are your thoughts on center mounted skis and how they affect skiing and the park? Keep up the great work!
thanks andrew! if your focus is park skiing, definitely recommend a center mount as it will allow you to ski/land switch a lot easier than if you are rear of center. i think for bigger mountain skiing, it helps to be a bit rear of center but skiing switch will be a little more difficult. hope this helps.
Lucas love the videos so much man good job on the videos. Your videos made me get a camera and start recording so I just have one question for you man. What is the go pro extender for the helmet to get the shots in front of your face
Fantastic technique. I suppose one must grow up on skis to ever have such perfect turns. My wife would love her outfit. Deer Valley looks like videos from Japan. Now I want to go there!
One of your best videos! Deer Valley, the class act that they are, really treated you well. If anyone out there gets a chance, try Deer Valley, it’s a great experience. Someday I want to look like Jillian when I ski. Goals. PS: Swiss Raclette is one of my favorite dishes. Good to know that you can get it at Deer Valley.
backseat assessment on the Stoke Crow upgrade: That was absolute madness!!! Great job on the remount and sizing! LFG!! You are gonna need those birds for a little bit ;)
Another incredible video. You said you don’t like to give ski instruction, but…. What a cool section to add to your videos: Guest Instructor!! Let’s go!
So good to see Jillian. She is a lightning in a bottle, man. Had the absolute pleasure of working with her pre-olympics. Great how she brought up "vision" in her attack of the mogul run. Great vid as usual. Always recommend the fireside
One of the best days this season! So cool to see and hear how the 2 time olympian described the turns. Thank you for the lessons! Stoked to go back to mammoth next week and try it out!
As someone who's spent the last 2 years learning how to ski, and really pushing myself to get better, Jillian's advice was invaluable. You hear it all the time about staying forward, but her explanations, and showing the technique of HOW to stay forward, really opened my eyes. Love the content, keep it coming, it's getting better and better with every video
Absolutely. Probably the biggest thing to progress. Keep your eyes focused where you are headed. You do that, the head stays pointing the right way and the rest of the body follows. Once you stop throwing yourself off-balance and in the back seat, you can suddenly make those turns in deep snow and in the steeps. Good luck.
I skied Deer Valley 15 years ago and I loved the resort. My main place I ski at is Mammoth. Started skiing Mammoth in 1974. You should take a few days off to let your body heal. As you age it gets harder on your back and legs. Deer Valley has some nice homes toward one bottom run I remember.
I just got caught up on your last few vids, So good. Jillian was crushing the turns and the footage was great. I enjoyed the graphics to see how fast you were ripping👊
6:11 My thoughts exactly. I took my Ranger 102 FRs (170cm) into the Minnesota trees for 6 hours yesterday; and I got a workout. I can't imagine 188cm in Midwest trees. That would be exhausting.
Absolutely top-notch video. Your talent and creativity in shot selection are outstanding. I truly enjoy watching you get better and better. Keep on keeping on.
@@LucasCatania17 Hey Lucas - just an observation. You seem to have really leapt forward as a skier this year. It's really cool & inspiring to see. I like seeing some of the park-flavor coming in also to your riding - some switch, jumps, spins & side hits. Great stuff and your video production is crazy good.
Man oh man are you living the life of dreams or what! I'm so stoked and it's literally 80 degrees here right now. I so want to put on my 20+ year old ski boots and walk around the office, haha. You keep shredding all that fantastic pow and living the life the rest of dream of literally every single day. It's fantastic and I love it and it's truly inspirational along with great camera work. I may not be able to ski again for a few more years but you make me want to get as close as I can. I'm definitely getting another skiers edge and I'm going to shred with you as best I can on it while watching your video's and getting in shape/ready for when I can get back to where I belong. I'm so stoked and there isn't even any snow around here for thousands of miles haha. I don't care, it's freaking close enough for now, I can feel it all again just watching you, man do I love and miss that feeling. You know what I'm talking about. I know it's not the same thing but it will do for now and in the end gets me closer and more prepared to for when I can return to mountain sliding harmony. I'm working on it, just a could more years and I'll be close to that dream. I bet I'm not the only one watching you while dreaming and planning their escape to the mountains haha. Stay safe God Bless and keep showing the way for the rest of us. ARe you like me, when you get to the ski area and see it for the first time you're so jacked up you just can't wait to get on that first lift to get the party started, like a little kid at Christmas haha. Thank you!
Wow. Lucas finds everything. The best mountains, the best snow, fresh powder, the best snow bunny. Look at her carving, wonder what size skis she uses. The video really captures how smooth she handles the turns. It’s movie worthy. The slo mo as she is cutting through the powder ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@LucasCatania17 wanted to ask you. If I am coming from the east what are your thoughts on the best resort to go to ? Colorado ? Utah ? Wyoming ? California ? Mid February. And if possible one that has less crowds and hotels right next to the mountain ? Thinking about driving to, then I can bring more equipment but a flight is only 5 hours away. But I can only bring boots and poles clothes and some food. Hotels got to be expensive as well. Thanks. The east is horrible this year. It’s all rain and warm temps.
You should do a raffle, Ski with Luccas, for a day for a weekend, whatever. You have a great attitude i think it would be a lot of fun and would work for ya.
Nice, hard to tell via GoPro how fast people are going but the footage seemed smoother so stepping up to 188s was either the right decision or it was just a perfect film day with lighting and snow. Watched the rest of the video, cool- sometimes you can just tell when someone loves skiing and Gillian does. Interesting perspective too on the little hike up to POW, were you holding the Max up in the air on the end of your pole? Almost looked like a drone shot.
Well done!! Love Jillian’s skiing and her explanation of how & why she gets down the mountain, a true Champion! 🙌🏼 Plus so nice to see DV spoil you & Tara, you’re so deserving!! 🙏🙏
loved this video! great advice! my Fiance was a ski racer all his years growing up here in Park city.. so I've been trying to get a bit better since I am a pro cyclist but the skiing is awesome! maybe ill see you out there on the slopes! love your videos! please hit us up if you need a place to van camp ;)
hey lucas ive been thinking ab getting a pair of arv 106s for a bit how do they handle days when u get hard packed groomers and pow also wondering how tall u are. thx man keep up the good work
Man just when you think Lucas can’t top the last video… he does! SO SICK! Loved that line at 12:10, and that follow cam footage of Jillian was awesome! Such great technique and really appreciate the tips! Can’t wait to book my trip to Deer Valley 😀
Hey man, I had a question for you. Do you find that the cameras and GoPros always attract negative attention? I struggle with people making snarky remarks about me wearing mine constantly. It's actually really sad. Wondered if this is common?
wouldnt really use absolutes like the term "always." i find that people are more often curious but yah you just gotta not care what people think/say/do. try walking around with a big vlog camera and talking to it with people around ;)
I found Deer Valley to be incredible, the beef stew bread bowl for lunch was awesome, following your host Olympian was fun to watch, remember at Deer Valley it’s “The Gentlemen’s Lounge”, not the Mens Room, man can she shred
Amazing video as always! On another note: in the first few minutes of the video, you had a clip of the St. Regis Deer Valley resort. I happen to be making a review of this property, but I wasn’t able to get nearly as beautiful as a shot of the exterior of the property when I was there as you have here. Would it be alright if I use your clip of the resort for my review? I’ll credit appropriately of course.
Sick video! Lady Morgan is definitely the place to go on a pow day. It’s just so secluded and such a short lift ride. I’ve never seen a line there. Keep up the great work!!
People in deer valley apparently don’t like powder haha! Only place in America you can get great powder the day (or even weeks) after a storm! Love to see you finally ski Lady Morgan Lucas…. One of my favorite lifts in Utah for the very powder you found. Big props for dropping the not so small cliff under the lift as well. How dare those people above you not cheer for that one!
good stuff, Lucas! ...really liked the heads-up display showing speed... would be great to see that in more videos (especially ones where you're ripping through the trees like a maniac!)
