This is insane, and with a little tweaking you can get descriptions on the skills as well. Definitely an essential plugin.

Oh my god this is brilliant. Imagine making skill types based on Earthbound categories (Offense, Recovery and Assist) and just putting the skills into those types.

Very useful plugin. Makes the skills tabs so much easier to navigate if you have a bunch of similar skills (summons, stealing, reload guns,...). Thank you, i needed this.

Thank you for saving my skill ui of my mages. I had up to 8 elements each with 4 version (32 spells) + 3 aoe versions with up to 8 elements (24 spells), +2 boosting skills, that's 58 spells all in all.

So, I'd like to make it so that, in order to use a specific skill type, a character has to be holding a corresponding weapon type. For example, in my game there's three primary skill types: melee, ranged, magic. I'd like to have it so that, in order for a character to use, say, ranged and melee skills, they have to be dual wielding a ranged weapon and a melee weapon (IE, a pistol and a sword). Easiest way to do this is to make it so that weapons themselves add a skill type. However, I've found that if you dual wield two of the same weapon types, you have two menu options for the same skill type...

Hello SRDude! I have a question, I am using this plugin, and I have the notetag, which requires me to take the Magic Skill off of all of my magic moves, now this causes Seal Magic Skills to be useless on enemies, is there a work around for this?

Yanfly has coding that enables a skill to be shown/hidden depending on parameters set by you. However, when implemented with this script of yours here, the "hidden" skill instead appears greyed out. Sooo.... would it be difficult to add functionality to have extended skills be shown or hidden depending on parameters, such as switches, variables, status ailments, etc?

I have a question. How does this work for skills that you only learn at certain levels. My attacks and skills are learned via leveling up and I cant seem to get it to work.

Is there a way to mix this with your Battle GUI Core? I'd love to have this new window pop up at dynamic locations based on where the GUI Core set the skill window.

Hey, do you think you can add a window screen that gives a description of each of the extended skills? It'll add a window scene somewhere (eg. at the top) whose info is drawn from the currently highlighted skill's info 9description)/note box. This way, using your example, the player can see the differences between Fire alpha, beta, etc.

This is very versatile. You could do Earthbound or choose a skill set within the skill command.

Hello! Nice plugin and very useful! ^^ But I wanted to know if there is actually a way to show to the player the description of the sub-skills when they are hovering over one like the main skill window does.

Would there be any chance that item's might be getting similar treatment? I have a ton of food items and such and not having to scroll down for 3 years to get to some of the lower items would be a huge plus

This plugin is pretty cool and I would use it a lot if there were slight differences. If the info bar could display the description of the extend skills as you scroll through them it would be far more useful indeed. Not sure if it's just me but the linked extend skills remain showing up in the menu too which kinda makes it awkward.

I have followed every step, yet each time I only receive "type error undefined is not a function" I made "Sentinel Guard" as a skill, extended 3 different guard skills but want only a couple available at first. However when I add levels to skills, I receive this error.

I need some help getting the ID of an item on the skill list (the item, not its contents. i.e: skill id is 8, but it's within an item of id 2 on the list; I'll need that "2", not the "8" - which, btw, is spread all over the script). I have it under "Window_SkillExtend.prototype.drawItem", which is a function. But I need to access it when player selects an item on the list (being all items of the list = the same skill; I'll use item id as a modifier for skill behavior). Ideas? Thanks!

This is a good plugin, but I am having a tiny problem: Basically, my game has three different types of magic categories, Learned Magic, Ring Magic, and Item Magic. Learned Magic are magic skills you learn permanently, Ring Magic are magic skills that provided to you if you wear certain rings, but removing the rings will remove the skills, and Item Magic, well, Final Fantasy 8 is a good idea of what Item Magic is. Point being, I wanted to categorize my skills because I have a crap ton of magic skills and for a player to acquire every single one would be tedious if he were to scroll through the magic menu and see like 100+ magic spells, with this plugin, I thought I could categorize those spells, but Ring Magic seems to cause errors (specifically Undefined is not a function). So one ring had Learn Skill: Fire (Which is the category) and then I had Fire 1 extension onto that. But when I test the skill in the troop menu, it doesn't do that, but I get an error instead.

I'm testing the plugin and appeared this error for me: syntax error octal literals are not allowed in strict mode. Can anybody help me ??

Amazing!! I love this. Something I've been hoping I can do... not sure if I can implement it still, but it's definitely something that has me very excited. Question though. Any idea how compatible it would be with other scripts? Do you foresee potential issues?

Huh... This might solve my problem with categorizing Buffs, Healing, Physical and Magic skills without having to put them all in their own windows (i. e. Black Magic, White Magic, Skills, Summon next to Attack, Guard and Items) but I guess the downside to that would be that the descriptions are gone, right? Kinda want to make something similar to what Breath of Fire 3 and 4 did, like a single column window where if you'd go left and right it would switch to the other category, but I'm just not sure how to go about doing it. Thanks for this plugin, though! Pretty sure this is really useful to some people out there.

Found a way to do it. Someone said: Simply add “this._skillExtend.setHelpWindow(this._helpWindow);” in both “createSkillExtendWindow” of the plugin, and that’ll do (check out for typos). If you need further help, try to reply. Hopefully I can help you.

Window_SkillExtend.prototype.maxCols = function() { return 1; }; Is it possible for me to return different values for the number of columns depending on the number of skills within the skill extend window? Not sure what to use to check the number of skills. I was trying to get the skill window to always have 2 rows with it expanding horizontally if needed, but not succeeding. So wondering if I can get the number of columns to increase accordingly to mimic that effect.

I know maxRows isn't in the windows_skillList function, but that function is inheriting from Window_Selectable which has it... so was hoping it was possible, lol.

Window_SkillExtend.prototype.maxCols = function() { return this._data.length; }; this._data is undefined for length :/ (Was trying to see if I can just get it to count the number of skills). I think _data is an array of all the skills, so that's why I tried that.

And now I did this probably unnecessary complex method: Window_SkillExtend.prototype.maxCols = function(id) { this._dataX = []; this._skillList.forEach(function(id) { if(!this._displayLearned || this._actor.hasSkill(id)) { this._dataX.push($dataSkills[id]); } }, this); return this._dataX.length;//this.maxItems(); }; The skill extension window opens, but the window itself is blank. I can still navigate and see skill descriptions appear in the help window (I added one) though. It's supposed to be 7 skills in this extension window. If I change it to simply "return 7", it works. Edit: Changing it to: return this._dataX.length - 2; Got it to show 5 skills spread across the 5 columns. I thought the width was too small to display 7 columns, but I'm not too sure. I'm confused with what's going on trying to replicate it with different stuff. Changing it to -1 instead caused a "canUse" error. Right now (with -2) I have just 6 skills to be displayed, but only 4 skills are showing spread across 2 columns. Eh... I'd just adjust to work with a fixed number I guess.
