What I like about Skillet is that, their songs have both meanings. If you're not much of a Christian, you can look at the song as a bad relationship/anger song(all the lies and the stupid things you say and do) If you are a big Christian, you can look at the song as knowing that the topic is the Devil (Poison in my veins, flooding through my veins) It's a win/win situation!

The only problem is doing my homework while listening, i stop doing work and start singing along xD

I know that skillet is a Christian band, but even if they are, you don't have to be Christian to listen to it, they make songs so you can interpret it the way you want to, I am not a Christian but interpret the lyrics in many different ways like abuse, relationships, and other things

Oooooohhhhhh boy i haven't heard this song in 6 years after a bad break up. Its like stepping back in time like I was feeling. Oof.

I'm so thankful for this song. The past few days have been bad for me but I know that it's not my fault, it's the devil's.

Some people put this song as a break up song or otherwise stated meaning. Me? I see every bad event in my otherwise peaceful life. My cousin who is four years behind me, lets call them Kay, was a big toxic friend. They always wanted to do things their way where I was raised to meet half way and compromise. I did everything they wanted me to and whenever I asked for something I wanted to do, Kay would guilt me into doing their thing. It eventually got to a point where I was being the emotions of the relationship-yeah, its that bad-so I cut Kay out of my life via blocking them on Facebook and other medias. They still then tried to make me feel like dirt but haven't been able to since, thankfully. The next event is a short one, this next person, who we'll call Sage, backstabbed me to get my then best friend. Sage was added to my little friend clique, that only consisted of me and my best friend at the time, to see how it would go. She was a chatter box and I didn't mind that much but when she kept complaining that she couldn't draw, I was willing to teach her. My best friend even got in on this but Sage hardly paid any attention to what I was teaching and eventually just left me and my bestie to ourselves. Sage kept sneaking my bestie away from me and I was never included so one day I wanted to have my bestie come with me but Sage started dragging her off, so I pulled back until we just had a tug-o-war with my besties arms. Sage won after my bestie informed me that she wanted to be with her more so I just let her go. It got to a point where Sage started spreading false rumors about me-this was in 7th/8th grade, so I didn't have it all together then. She would say I'm demanding or controlling to my bestie, which I wasn't, and that I beat up one of my few other friends. That was the boiling point for me and I cut her outta my life in 9th grade. This last one is my first and worst relationship. Lets call him Richard. So I had a crush on Richard since junior high as he moved to my little village in 6th grade. At first, he found me odd since I follow my friends everywhere but we eventually became best friends. One day I confessed my love for him and he accepted my confession. What followed was a good 6 months of love and happiness until the fourth of July, where Richard broke up with me over text...It was crushing to me since I've never had a real relationship until then. Then, a few months later, he wanted me to take him back. I was dumb enough to give him another chance and it would cycle back to this way in 5-3 months. I gave Richard over 6 chances until I finally denied him. He never asked again after that. Sorry about this long ass comment but I had to get this off my chest. If you made it this far, congrats! My message to the broken hearted is, if you take your bad experiences from the past and look at it from a positive perspective you will find out your really not alone, Takes time and patience but just because someone is judging you, just be kind and respectful and listen because if you set your mind in the right place which doesn't happen over night you will find the answers and be happy again.
