As I've said in most skillet reactions. His lyrics can be interpreted to fit into anyone's lives so they can better understand themselves. Dont fret on not getting it right. Just enjoy the music and let it wash over you. I believe there was a continuation of this song in their next album called Back From the Dead. Should give that a listen.
