i think removing the idea of anti aging is genius. Truly if we all just focused on have healthy skin and doing the most healthy things for our skin, i think it wouldn't have so much implict self-hatred in it

I’m old, and I’ve deliberately not done any of the things I thought I might, like lifting my eyelids. My eyes are still my best feature, other than my complexion, (even with some wrinkles) and I still get compliments. You can’t completely prevent looking older, and there comes a point with people who use artificial means, like Botox and fillers, where they look silly. Bodies age, too, and a lifted face looks incongruous. Drink water, eat healthfully, use sunscreen, exercise some, and enjoy wherever you are in life.

Yes! I loved this point as well. We're lucky if we have the opportunity to age!

I'm coming to terms with the fact (although I'm still 32) wrinkles and stuff aren't a problem per se because what I should focus instead is in looking the best way possible at any age by taking care of yourself in and out. I still look younger than my age (a 3rd-year uni student asked me the other day what degree I was studying!!) and I have to admit that I was blessed with good skin genetics, but I know it might not be like this forever. I see other women and men who are stunning even if they look roughly their age and have wrinkles, but most of them you can notice have taken care of their bodies and have a youthful and joyful attitude. A cousin of mine has just turned 50 and she's got the normal wrinkles in her face and some sagging but she's absolutely gorgeous still, turning heads and you can't really notice the age difference when being with her because of the way she thinks, behaves and dresses. In the past, when I was very unhappy, sad, overtired and depressed I looked older and not too well overall. This is not to blame someone who can't help going through it, but just something I've noticed and that is very true.

That makes me even happier than ever that I never was someone who was into makeup much. Not that it's a bad thing, but I never wanted to waste my own time to make myself younger. Because first of all, I have kinda good genes, so I'm mistakenly held for being in my twenties and that all without makeup or crazy skin care. And I smoke or drink sometimes. But I don't have the focus on my wrinkles or anything and I guess bothering less, makes you glow somehow, too. 😅

This reminded me how when I was a teen and in my early twenties I literally tried not to SMILE to avoid wrinkles!!! I’ve since embraced smiling and will welcome any skin consequences. Older women are beautiful and amazing, and smile lines are the badge of a life well lived

@@thedailywisdom1851 What is and isn't old is always very relative. I remember being in my early teens thinking someone who's above 18 is old. But that changed over the years. Now in my mid twenties I no longer think that's old... nor do I think being in your 30s is old. I'm sure as I'll get older what I consider and don't consider older will change. :)

Agree. Hormones control everything. I had acne for the first time in my life earlier this year when my daughter was hospitalized. The horror and stress of seeing her suffer broke me mentally and physically. Once she was fine, it still took months of lots of sleep and daily walks in nature to calm myself down which cleared the acne. About a month ago I saw a derm about the scars and they did a chemical peel + a session of micro needling. Now it is as if nothing ever happened.
@agnesmarion8161

Few truer things have been said. I'm 27 and have had painful cystic acne, perfect skin soon after, only to have acne again...I tell you, groundhogs day. I have been the healthiest person I know, not to mention the most disciplined with my skincare, and it hurts to see the breakouts and my skin not responding. Makes me feel like I'm not feminine enough, and unworthy. But at the end of the day this does not define me. My skin and my acne is not the measure of my worth, and shouldn't be for anyone else. We must shift our focus to what truly matters in our everyday life, and our beauty alas, will be forgotten. It certainly won't have had a greater impact to the world. Humans are capable of so much more, why hinder ourselves!

This was lovely! I’m glad you said something about taking care of your hands because that is something often not talked about. A elderly woman I used to know once told me one regret she had is not taking better care of her hands. She said a person’s hands really shows signs of aging a lot faster than you’d think and every time you apply sunscreen, you need to apply it to the back of your hands as well! I hadn’t considered that before, but she’s not wrong, so I took that advice to heart.

My biggest tips is sunscreen, change your pillow cases even if you dont change your sheets, you dont need soap on your face (there are cleansers with no soap) and its okay if you go through periods where you dont do a whole routine. A quick wash, moisturizer, and sunscreen is really all you need.

I'm probably always going to have some hormonal acne, i have PCOS and i learned to care more about the health of my skin, feeling comfortable and not dry, protecting from the sun as well as other weather (winter wind is horrible), and that's really all i need. Most skin care honestly feels good but it won't really undo aging. Time goes forward and doesn't go back. Sleep and drink water honestly helps with acne, wrinkles, dryness, dullness.

I turned 31 recently and have always been ‘against’ cosmetic procedures such as Botox, fillers etc. However, I had a poor lifestyle in my teens/early twenties, my weight fluctuated a lot and I ended up losing a bit of volume in my face, resulting in visible smile lines, (the one side is worse than the other). Creeping into my late twenties, every time I looked in the mirror, the only thing I would focus on was these smile lines, I felt like they made me look older than I was, so last year I decided to get a bit of filler… It was one of the best things I’ve done to boost my confidence, I instantly felt ‘prettier’ which sounds ridiculous I know. There’s nothing wrong with getting little ‘tweaks’ done if you are insecure about something and it gets you down every time you look at yourself. I’m getting a top up in Jan.😚👍🏻

THIS! I think what matters most is that you feel good about yourself and if a bit of filler helps you to love the skin you are in there's NO harm in it! It just terrifies ME, in the same way I'd have been very very nervous getting a hair transplant (which my husband did!) ... best thing he ever did in terms of taking charge of his own confidence, I have no issue whatsoever with people doing what works for them

@melaniemurphyofficial That's one thing that annoys me about some influencers. You can just tell they've had fillers, but don't admit to it and claim they are all natural. It doesn't set a very good example. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it and I feel like a lot of people feel shameful about it because a lot of celebrities don't admit to it.

I´m so glad I got to this video. I turned 29 years old this year and the age gets to me. I know we can´t reverse it, but at least we can help our skin to look and feel better. I actually have woken up to fine lines being more visible in the morning, and I just looked a lot more dry? I do use night cream but I still could see my fine lines being so deep. I have now bought silk for the pillows and hope it will improve. I have also noticed that I got more visible lines on my right side of the face but it´s because I have ALWAYS LOVED to sleep on my right side. My left side barely has anything. I hope I can help my skin out more now.

I've been trying to sleep on my back because I've heard it reduces eye bags. I heard this from another RU-vidr, I think she's a dermatologist. I've noticed it has helped with that. On the topic of acne scars, I used an 8% AHA face cream in my 20s. I saw a real difference after using it. It's too bad I can't find it anymore because it has been discontinued. It was also good for fine lines. I'm in my 30s too. :D Side note: Another benefit for sleeping on your back is that you'll prevent fine lines from forming when you're sleeping. I used to sleep on my left side and because of it, there are more fine lines on my left under eye than my right. 🙃

Yes neck, so important!!! Everything u do to face do to neck that's the real tell tale of someone's age, I stopped base too, yes same I found it aged me, if I need coverage I'll spot w some concealer/ a bb cream, powder on forehead only (my forehead is v oily), this whole vid is spot on 👌👌👌 yes spf indoors too, you really covered about everything, I follow many derms n this all pretty much checks out, thank you, great stuff 👍👍👍👍👍👌✅✅

I never wear foundation (not against ppl who use foundation, I just don’t) I do my best with my skincare routine. Once I found out I was Celiac and cut out gluten, the redness, hormonal acne, and weird clear bubble rash things I would get on my neck and chest left. My fingers and toes even used to get red and I couldn’t figure out why... once I stopped eating that though, even that stopped. I'll use concealer for redness/pimples/veins but I don't need to worry about the creasing etc. I do struggle with whether to do a skin care routine shortly after I get home or not. Because obviously there are a few hours between me getting home and getting ready for bed. And if I take off all the make up and do my skin care routine after getting home, do I just redo the whole thing in a few hours before going to bed? It wouldn't feel right not to wash my face and put on all that stuff right before bed.

I feel like doing skincare once or twice a day (thoroughly!) is adequate! A lot of skincare experts recommend a very simple morning routine, mainly to remove oils etc from overnight and of course ... moisture and SPF! But in the evening unless you're doing like really intense exercise, I don't think your face will be any 'dirtier', it will have fab ingredients penetrating it instead of makeup and makeup is definitely 'less great' for the skin than skincare
