Skincare Products Better than the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex Serum
The SkinMedica TNS line of skincare products is an impressive line, and from testing out five of the products in this line (the Recovery Complex, the Essential Serum, the Advanced Serum, the TNS Eye Cream, and the TNS Ceramide Cream) I am convinced that their secret ingredient does work amazingly in terms of firming skin, helping with fine lines, reduce noticeable wrinkles, and help with brightening skin up.
So what is the deal with Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media? I do want to note, anyone that uses a product with this ingredient is being a bit of a “Test Case” or Guinea Pig” because there are not any long term studies done 10, 20, 30+ years out. GFs in skincare are somewhat controversial. As potent mitogenic (= stimulates cell proliferation) molecules, you should not use them if you have any of the skin cancer risk factors high or if you have psoriasis.
Human Fibroblast Conditioned Media (HFCM) essentially means a "Growth Factor Cocktail" for your skin. Growth Factor is a medium long amino acid sequence (= small protein = big peptide) that works as a cell signaling molecule to stimulate cell growth, proliferation, healing and/or differentiation. Ingredients called "Conditioned Media" cover not one but a mix of Growth Factors derived from some cells grown in a lab. In the EU, human cell-derived ingredients are illegal, so GF products available in the EU usually use a plant source (e.g. barley). In the US, human-derived GFs are all OK, and Human Fibroblast Conditioned Media is derived, as its name suggests, from human fibroblast cells. Skinmedica was a pioneer in using GFs in skincare, and their version of HFCM contains a "proprietary mixture of growth factors, cytokines, and soluble matrix proteins secreted by cultured neonatal human dermal fibroblasts during the production of extracellular matrix. It is claimed to be a physiologically balanced mix of GFs that are ideal for skin cells to regenerate themselves.
Skinmedica has pretty convincing research showing that their products containing GFs (TNS line) work and have great anti-aging benefits. Multiple clinical studies show that the TNS Recovery Complex improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, skin tone and texture. The benefits are even greater when GFs are combined with tried and true anti-aging actives such as antioxidants and retinol.
SkinMedica TNS Advanced Serum
Pros: very similar ingredients including the star of the show: Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media (growth factors) BUT this version is fragrance free and better for sensitive skin types.
Cons: Still very expensive
Available on Amazon (shipped & sold by SkinMedica)
amzn.to/3PQlOLF
Reviv Ultimate Serum
Pros: More affordable (over half the price of the SkinMedica TNS Essential), same Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media as well as several peptides up front
Cons: Not available everywhere, difficult to find other than online, still a bit pricey.
At RevivSerums: revivserums.co...

Joie Cellule Lotion
Pros: VERY affordable, contains the same Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media as well as additional peptides.
Cons: Contains Bergamot Oil
At Yesstyle: ystyle.co/zNky
Use Rewards Code NOBSBEAUTY for an additional discount!
Osmosis Beauty Stemfactor - Growth Factor Serum
Pros: More affordable (about half the price), contains the same Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media, short ingredient list.
Cons: Contains Lemon Peel Oil making it quite fragrance initially upon application.
At Amazon: amzn.to/3PRRX5T
SkinMedica Tns Ceramide Treatment Cream
Pros: Also more affordable, and the bottle is large. Creamy texture is wonderful for dry skin types, and of course, it also contains the star of the show- Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media
Cons: Might be too heavy for oily skin types, also not super friendly for acne prone skin either. The Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media is a little further down the ingredient list in this product (it is 5th)
At Amazon: amzn.to/3ooeNWW
RNW Der Ceramide Concentrate Plus
Pros: Affordable, contains a nice variety of peptides and ceramides, also fragrance free
Cons: Doesn’t contain Human Conditioned Fibroblast Media
At Yesstyle: ystyle.co/3iG6
Use Rewards Code NOBSBEAUTY for an additional discount!
Unish Co EGF Epiderm + Factor
Pros: Short ingredient list, only 9 ingredients, fragrance free
Cons: Hard to get outside of Japan (I was lucky enough to have a patreon send me one to try)!

Mesenchymal stem cells have been shown to be more efficient then fibroblast stem cells in various aspect. As such I expect it to be the same in regards to conditioned media of said stem cells. Which makes me wonder if products like anteage and bradceuticals are much better then products containing human fibroblast conditioned media. I've been quite interested in trying the bradceutical myself; seems like a good dupe I think.

Thank you for making this video, Sara. I've been really interested in the potential anti-aging benefits of growth factor products and I've been trying out various brands for the last 10 months. I only give the product as long a the first bottle lasts (in my case, using in both a.m and p.m., and giving it at least 30 minutes before applying any other skin care). So, the one order of a product will typically last me 4-6 weeks. I feel like, for the expensive cost, if I don't see any difference in that time, I'm not investing any more money into that brand. So far, I've tried Osmosis, NeoGenesis, Le Mieux, AnteAGE, and AnteAGE MD. The only one I saw a difference with (it seemed to improve my skin tone and lighten some hyperpigmentation) was the AnteAGE. I also didn't seem to notice much of a difference between the regular AnteAGE and the MD version so I don't think the extra money for the extra growth factors was worth it in that case. I have also recently been using the SkinMedica ceramide cream that you mentioned. I'm not sure if it helps a lot, but I do like it, and it's more affordable, especially when you can get it on sale (SkinStore and SkinBeautifulRX often have sales). I'm so curious to try the SkinMedica TNS, but it's so expensive!! I think I'm going to experiment with the Reviv serum next. I've also come across a company called BradCeuticals that makes growth factor serums, but I haven't seen many reviews on them, and I wonder if a small company that isn't very popular will have inventory stock that is fresh and potent.

Thank you for your comment, I've never heard of bradceuticals so I'm definitely going to check this out. I've also been checking into the one from neogenesis, hope to try that one out next. I do love the deals from skinstore, makes it a little earlier to palette buying a more prestige product when you get more of a discount on it. 😉

Agree with u @Osmosis and LeMieux.. no change at all with those. Neogenesis has a few I like, and I love AnteAge. Has anyone heard of OneSkin? I use that also and feel it works quite well
@nyamoonshadow3259
@nyamoonshadow3259 Год назад
@@AjaxandOreos I did try OneSkin, but it stung my face terribly. After tossing around some ideas in another comments section about it, I concluded that it was probably the niacinamide in it, which I tend to have a sensitivity to. I had no results with the Reviv serum and also their website is nearly always sold out of it, so I had to wait like 3 weeks for the one bottle to arrive - that would make it difficult to keep up with consistent use unless you buy like 3 bottles at a time. However, I have tried BradCeuticals since commenting on this video, and I seem to see slow progress results with the BradCeuticals, though better with the more expensive, higher concentration serum than the cheapest one.

Skinmedica brand doesn't ship to Australia and basically they're not allowed to sell here as their products are prohibited by the Australian law and government for having those growth factors, matter of fact DE protini is another one not allowed to be sold here for containing large amounts of peptides let alone growth factors😬 A lot of cult favourite products are not allowed to be sold here: The ordinary peeling solution The ordinary alpha arbutin The ordinary vitamin C 8% + alpha arbutin DE TLC Sukari baby facial To name a few lol

Really??! I had no idea about that! What is it about like alpha arbutin that you can’t use? Isn’t it just a derivative of hydroquinone? Ish. I got the DE protini a week or so ago just in reviews it is great but I don’t know what it’s actually doing or what the peptides do. Is there something off with peptides why it’s against the law where you live?

@@angelinebiswas7611 honestly I'm not too sure exactly why but TGA (Therapeutic Goods Association) similar to FDA in the states regulate these things in here, I'll probably have to contact them for in depth details as to why those specific products are banned, there's also a fine print section talking about possible fines and charges in case someone gets caught buying those products so I'm not too sure whether we can order em online 🤷

I don't understand how these products compare to one another. Just because they say they contain human growth factor, they do not say the amount or percentage of this key ingredient. So, how do we know if they have the same "amount" as the TNS? I would love to save money, but not sure if I'll be as satisfied as I am with the TNS. Please advise.

This was so helpful thank you so much!! I was wondering a few months back I tried that osmosis serum. I used the whole bottle but didn’t notice much in terms of results do you find it to be as effective as the skin Medica? I might try it again because I had other variables going on but I was wondering what your thoughts were thank you!!
@NOBSBeauty
@NOBSBeauty 2 года назад
Some theories on this. I've heard some people state that if you use EGF Products with acids and/or retinoids it can prevent the growth factors from absorbing and working in the skin. I also wonder if perhaps it was layered over another product that might have prevented it from being fully absorbed? Or perhaps it was a bad batch of product, which would be virtually impossible to find out if that's the case. Might be worth trying a different brand and see if that makes any difference. Keep me posted, I'm interested to see if you are able to find one that works better for you. The next one I'm going to try is from neogenesis recovery serum next, sounds like quite a few people have had good luck with it, and it's more affordable.

@@NOBSBeauty that is so interesting thank you!! I definitely both exfoliate and use retinoids 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I’m actually going through an acid free period atm since my barrier needs a break - a great time to give egf products another try! I may try using them apart from my nightly Tretinoin also. Not sure that is separate enough but my tret is my one nonnegotiable 😅😂 At the same time I was trying the osmosis I was also testing the Alastin line. I didn’t have good luck with that either. It could have just been a rough period of time for my skin! Next up I was looking at OneSkin but I may try the neogenesis instead! …So many products so little face! 🤣

Bonojour has a EGF serum kinda pricey compared to their other products but haven't tried it. Did u see BOJ has a new ginsing oil cleanser. Have u tried the iope bio condition essence yet ? I bought it and the Benton green tea toner and the Abib water tube haven't gotten them yet but Alice said the iope essence is a really good dupe for the sk11 essence and I have been using that sense may I got lucky and got 2 1 once bottle GWP because they kept messing up my order so I ended up with like 80$ of essence lol but then I fell in love with it so that sad on my end because it's like the price of gold. Have u looked into those DNA repair serums I see some derms and Ets swear by them need to do some research because idk how a serum can repair DNA so that could be a video for u if you want to research it or try a product like that. I've been using some products from both Photozyme and Priori that have DNA repair enzymes. I don't exactly understand the mechanisms work, but I have seen different people quoting studies that show putting products with the enzymes on the skin before sun exposure helped reduce the amount of damage from U.V. rays. I like to get a moisturizer formula and use it underneath my sunscreen every day.
