My favourite doggie. Golden Labs and retrievers, and I also love Irish Wolfhounds but I found out larger dogs don't live as long and I'm autistic and if I lost a fur baby at only 8 years old, I'd be utterly destroyed. We're renting at the moment until we finish building our house in Ireland so not allowed dogs but I have my little cats. They're like little autic assholes but I love them so.
@@irestar6 my mum has an 8 year old golden lab that I’m babysitting this weekend. She is going blind and has terrible arthritis. It’s so sad for such a young dog but it’s the price you pay sometimes for loving a dog 🐕 Edit: I’m in Ireland too 🇮🇪 good luck with the house build
Thank you so much for this help, I'm 35 and just now needing under eye cream.. noticing fine lines and dryness. I dog sit for a living, I have random sleeping schedules, i've been sleeping and drinking water less.
I would like to take a minute and say that you and your brother Robert are two of the most transparent RU-vid creators that I have found when it comes to sponsorships, pr, and gifts. I find it wonderfully refreshing and I'm hoping that more people follow in your shoes in 2022! It gives such a level of trust for me anyway. And it actually makes me want to try the products that you recommend whether they're sponsored or not.
I definitely think the morning cleanse should be just based on how you're feeling in the morning like if you feel like you want to wash off that layer of products to have a fresh slate, then just cleanse! if it's super dry and cold and you don't want to get your face wet, then don't cleanse! people get obsessed with the idea of routines and forget you can just follow the vibes
honestly i agree. i switch up my cleansing routine depending on my skin that day and what's on it. sometimes i use a really gentle cleanser or sometimes i just use water on its own
Agree if I’m flaking and dry I do what we do in the hospital what is called a lotion cleanse. Or an oil cleanse. It’s the most gentle cleanse you can do.
This! We're all different and we all have different needs on different days. During the week, I wash my face in the morning with a super light, nourishing non-foaming cleanser just to give me a clean, fresh slate and a little boost of moisture. But on weekends, I usually just splash a little water and go on with my day. Over the past couple of years, skincare/beauty routines have become a bit of a status symbol -- the more fancy, big name products we use, the better and more "enlightened" we are. Simple is oftentimes better in many cases.
Exactly! I have combo skin and live in a tropical environment (lots of humidity fluctuation). Sometimes I completely wash my face, sometimes I just rinse, sometimes I don’t at all. Also depends on what you’re doing that day, like James mentioned. There’s nothing wrong with feeling out what your skin needs and responding to that. Your routine doesn’t always have to be exactly the same
for me, in the last 1-2 years, i’ve stopped doing a skincare routine with a million steps. thanks in large part to social media, i felt like i needed to double cleanse, tone, essence, serum, moisturizer, oil, etc. and while my skin would be hydrated, breakouts would get worse. my skin is much happier with a simple cleanse, tone, moisturizer routine (+ serum sometimes). 😌
It's so interesting how different people's skin is. When I skip my skincare regularly or take a break I feel so gunky. My skin is best with routine with multiple products. But at the end of the day everyone is different. What works for me won't necessarily work for everyone.
I understand! I used to be against double cleansing bc I thought it was unnecessary but now I'm addicted to it bc even tho I dont wear makeup, the oil cleanser really helps my oily t zone and my chin acne went away from massaging those areas.
When I started following the 60 second rule, I realized how haphazardly I was washing my face. I would neglect lots of small areas. Putting in the full 60 seconds really helps me to be thorough, especially when I'm wearing makeup. If I haven't been wearing makeup or heavy, waterproof sunscreen, then I might not bother, but I still find it to be more of a pleasant massage than a chore.
Yeah I notice a huge difference in my cleanse when I don’t go as long, I got lazy and rushed it for a few days and my skin didn’t respond well, at all!
i cannot tell you how badly i needed this distraction. i am so stressed from my night shift last night (i’m a nurse) and i DESPERATELY needed an escape. thank you so much 😭
How you feel about Vitamin C is how I feel Niacinamide. Everyone says how good Niacinamide is and I've tried a bunch, but my skin just doesn't like it. Just shows that everyone's skin is so different and you gotta do what's best for you.
I think part of the issue is that (at least in my experience), it's nigh impossible to get niacinamide in a lower percentage than 10%. The benefits top out at about 5% but I couldn't find one at that level anywhere.
Been seeing a few people commenting that they feel like James is inconsistent about his messaging, and honestly I can't really say I agree. I think its a consistent throughline in skincare that different things tend to work for different people and honestly I appreciate how honest he was about the vitamin c. I've started building up more of a routine as of late and knowing that there are other products which may give similair results to vitamin c when combined properly is a valuable piece of information which incentivizes me to be more aware of how I'm actually reacting to my products. And at the end of the day, skincare's an ever developing science. Just because one supplements the information one has given out prior upon expanding ones pool of knowledge and experience doesn't mean one was lying. Edit: Also don't buy a product *just* because a skincare influencer recomends it. Get it if you feel you have a need for it and it has a fair shot of working for you. And if something does genuinely work for you, but an influencer seems to have fallen out of love with said product that doesn't take away from it. Their entire career is to review products, of course they're going to cycle through them and sometimes even adjust their endorsements as their field evolves.
Yes 100% agree! When it comes to my ‘inconsistency’ I often get comments from the same person on a video from a month ago and the same person comments on a video from 3 years ago 😂 skin changes, opinions change, science changes! We find better products too!
I agree. I have entirely different skin type to James and am old enough to be his mother! His videos have inspired me to take better care of my skin and do more research into what products and ingredients will benefit me. It has made such a difference and his enthusiasm is infectious. Part of the fun is trying new brands and ingredients and I love that James continues to develop his knowledge along with us. I also kinda like that he doesn't bang on about "anti aging" all the time like some influencers. 🙄
@@JamesWelsh Absolutely. You change, your skin care evolves. That doesn't equate to inconsistencies.. Those people are idiots and probably hate dogs. 😆
Totally agree on your point, because what might suit you at one point it doesn't have to suit your routine forever, and social media contents about skincare really emphasize the importance of vitamin C, James sheds lights on this point and this is growth not inconsistency. I tried vit C and love it at first but on the long run my oily/combination acne prone skin become so much irritated, itchy and dry especially on my jawlines, so I stopped using it everyday instead of throwing my stuffs away cz I don't have someone to give it to so I'm using mine once a week and currently searching for a replacement like James mentioned in this video.
Rule I recently broke was "only use products targeted to for your skin type". I know my skin type is oily but because I was only using products specifically targeted to oily/acne prone skin, I went too hard on my skin & striped it & destroyed my moisture barrier. I thought my skin couldn't have any shine to it so I never used a moisturizer. Now I focus more on what ingredients a product has.
i feel this. i used to use only oily and acne prone targeted products. but they became too drying and didn’t solve the issue. now i focus on hydration mostly, along with some mattifying and spot clearing products and actives.
@@sneakyturtle2346 Oily skin rules say you don't always need a moisturizer and that your focus needs to be getting ride of the oil & shine. We have influencers & online resources now but none of that was available in the '90s when I started skincare.
Word. I ditched face wash for acne prone skin and switched to one for normal/ combination skin. Finally my skin is not dehydrated anymore and i get less breakouts as well due to my skin not being irritated
@@roocknrollqueen exactly. If I put a mild acid underneath a couple times a week for acne it seems to be ok. But if I don’t use a thick moisturizer at night my skin literally peels off in flakes. It’s painful too. But I’m on lots of medicine and I think that contributes to it. Some times I slug over oil it hurts so bad.
Yes! I also really love that he keeps emphasizing that everyone's skin is different and what works for him might not work for someone else and vice versa. There's so much black and white messaging about skincare that completely ignores the fact that everyone is different, it's refreshing to watch someone who doesn't do that and doesn't demonize people for using certain products or methods!
I used to live by wash cloths are too rough for your face. Then I did some outdoor activities for a week and would use a wash cloth to get the excess dirt off. When I tell you in that week I noticed a definite change in my skin. It was brighter, less textured and fewer pimples. I have not turned back every since and even my husband has mentioned that my skin is a lot clearer. This is in a matter of like 3 months. Also since using the washcloth I have been able to cut down on so many actives as well. It's like your video with the manual scrub. Yea, its too rough if you beat up your face with it but if you gently clean your face with it, its totally fine.
One skincare rule I break is not putting a separate moisturiser on in the morning. The sunscreen I use is already super hydrating and putting a separate moisturiser on too would make my skin so greasy. Plus using my spf as a moisturiser makes me remember to put it on everyday to keep my skin safe!!! (I always remember to put moisturiser on at night though!)
Yeah that's definitely not a rule.... All sunscreens have moisturizing ingredients in them. Some more hydrating than others even if they're not actually considered "moisturizers" ... Most people that I know just use their moisturizer that contain SPF in the morning, except one person but she has extremely dry skin.
James, I hope you realise that by starting this video with your fur baby, you have set the bar REALLYYYY high for future videos 🤭 maybe pupper should have a cameo in every video 👀
I am so glad to hear you saying these things about Vitamin C and eye creams. Vitamin C messed me up! And when I saw so many people saying that eye creams aren't needed, I decided to test it out by stopping mine for 2 weeks and almost immediately crow's feet coupled with millia appeared around my eyes. Re-incorporated eye cream and within a week, crow's feet faded and millia gone. I prefer caffeinated eye cream in the morning - Clinique All About Eyes is my favorite - and Strivectin Intensive Eye Concentrate in the evening.
FINALLY a RU-vidr who talks about skin not agreeing with Vitamin C. I too felt the pressure of needing to include Vit C into my routine, & even my esthy was telling me I should get on one, only to find that it causes deeply embedded black heads for me (& I am not prone to blackheads).
I am prone to blackheads but in the mornings after I rinse my face it’s fairly clean then Once I put vitamin c all my blackheads and pores appear!? And I thought I was crazy
I tried implementing vit c into my skin care a few times and to be honest - it does not work for me, makes my normally good skin look worse. So ita no from me
I was so happy to hear you talk about eye creams. I would get so aggravated when I would hear someone say it was a waste (usually Influencers in their 20s...sorry/not sorry). I'm in my late 60s and I'm SO GLAD I've been using eye creams along with great skincare all these years. I'm LIVING for Kate Sommerville's +Retinol eye cream (which I use at night). I switch out the day one - currently Drunk Elephant.
im in my early 20's and i love eye creams. i have dry under eyes and dark circles, and eye creams have helped so much with hydrating and brightening my under eyes. definitely an essential product in my skincare routine
@@Catkovi Exactly, unless you're specially trying to target something specific like dark circles, puffiness, prevent wrinkles etc, it's not essential. I personally just use my normal moisturizer under my eyes, just lightly to hydrate and moisturize the area as derms have recommended and say is absolutely fine. I'm 23 now and I might start using eye creams when I get to 25 just to prevent any wrinkles in the future.
@@CupcakeQueenkrj i've tried different ones, but my faves are the cosrx snail eye cream, and the peach and lily retinoic eye cream. right now i'm using the kinship vitamin c eye cream during the day, and a different one i got from a korean advent calendar at night, and while they're pretty good, i'd still say the cosrx and p&l are my faves so far. i've seen the best results with them
Slugging with the CeraVe healing ointment is one of the only things that has saved my dry, rosacea prone skin. It has even allowed me to use a retinoid safely (I use Arazlo instead of Tretinoin since it’s much more moisturizing). I live in NYC and the weather is cold and dry and our radiators are ravaging our skin of all hydration 😩
i have dry rosacea skin and i use the ordinary’s retinol serum because it’s suspended in squalene oil which is super hydrating! rly strong retinoids hurt my face so bad but this one doesn’t seem to do it n it’s so nice
Thank you for showing that, like most things, skin care is about nuance. Taking a hard and fast stance on things is overall detrimental. This also teaches people that they should use their own experience, thoughts and preferences in their decision to use certain skin care products/techniques. Great video- adorable puppy.
This might be weird but..I used to HATE my super dark eye circles but now I love them?? Lmao. I purposely don’t cover them up now idk I love the tired look
Dark circles can be super attractive. You're right. I don't have dark circles but deep eye sockets, it's not a matter of coloration but volume. I hate it bc you can't fix it. I try to reassure my self esteem by comparing myself with Liv Tyler 😂
It sounds funny but the tired look is actually really in right now. There are girls doing things to bring on bags. I think that's a bit far. But loving who you are with or without products is always a good thing.
@@SheReaDelSol no, I don't have sensitive skin and whether or not I like the fragrance is often the tipping factor for me. It adds to the mini-spa experience. For instance, though I'm thrilled with Juno cleansing balm. it has a citrus fragrance. I like citrus, but it's inappropriate to wind down with at night. So I'm still on the hunt :)
Oh my gosh okay. So for me, it’s only been recently that I decided to ditch the idea that all of my skincare should be simple, strict actives with no fragrance! I used to actively avoid products that smelled good or were “extra” and feel a bit superior to people who didn’t. Now that my skin has aged into my 20s though, I have learned more about what experiences I value in skincare. My routine went from all products from The Ordinary to a collection of things I really enjoy using-a simple salicylic acid cleanser, the Freck Beauty Rich Bitch moisturizer, the Ordinary Niacinamide (too good to leave in the past), Peach and Lily’s Glass Skin serum, Keys Soulcare Harmony Mask, a good neutrogena sunscreen, and some Glossier balm dotcoms. I am SO much happier now.
@@camillazurcher2034 I personally have oily skin and it helps with my hormonal acne. No crazy big cysts or super painful acne... But oily skin type still.
First off, YOUR BABY IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!!!! I'm actually the opposite with eye creams now lol. I first used them then realized I didn't need them and they would get wasted. Using my other products on my eye area works for me.
I’ve been using moisturizer with Shea butter and Rosehip seed oil and slugging every night this month and I personally need it bc I have Death Valley dry skin 🙈
I absolutely agree with you about washing your face in the mornings. I have fragile/sensitive skin so I also used to just rinse with water and go with my skincare. And then last year after we were done with lockdown I started running in the mornings so I obviously had to wash my face then and at night as well to take off my makeup (yes I wear makeup at home lol) and sunscreen and wow, such an improvement in texture. Btw, regarding eye creams, besides caffeine, retinol too. I use adapalane for anti-aging purposes but I do not dare take that right under my eyes so I also have a separate eye cream with retinol.
I swear by Vitamin C. My skin loves it. Oddly enough, my skin can only tolerate lower %ages of niacinamide. TO niacinamide serum broke my forehead out in little tiny bumps/millia. Just goes to show you need to listen to your skin and see what it needs :)
When I first started a skincare routine, I was convinced that I had to use everything all at once. Which is of course just left me with a gloopy sticky face, and I thought that I must be a freak or oddity or something. Once I started dialing it back, I realized that it was about finding what actually worked for me. 🙂
I've seen your videos before when I was trying to figure out how to start my skincare. They were great, and maybe I know a little more now so I understand more, but I LOVED hearing why you aren't doing some of these things. So helpful. Thank you.
For me, whenever my skin has been really dry and upset, minimal cleansing has done it a ton of good. Yes, I have heard from my youth that one has to cleanse the face twice a day, only clean skin can be healthy, and so on... In practical world, leaving my face untouched and just adding moisture and nourishment, has been a great way to deal with irritation. The same for my body... showering only once is helpful to combat dryness and itching.
Thanks for highlighting the positives of using eye creams!! So many influencers say they aren't necessary, BUT; I had eye surgery and I have to be incredibly careful with what I put on and near my eyes. With eye cream, it has been formulated to be safe around my eyes. I have peace of mind using an eye cream I know won't harm my eyes. Also, I've gotten some of my night cream in my eyes before and it BURNED! Not to mention, I feel like I'm pampering myself!!
Honestly I'm over retinoids entirely. I have tried 10 different products and I just hate the experience and stress of using them! At this point, I just want my skin to feel calm and happy. If I end up aging more or whatever that's fine because at least I will be comfortable and I don't believe I will become a bog witch like the internet seems to think I will 😂
I get breakouts every time I try a retinoid. I have giving up using them as well. I don’t need them on my whole face anyways. I only use them on my under eyes and on my hands.
Yes! I've tried two different retinol serums since February this year and my cheeks are burnt even though I was extremely careful with how and what to use. Had to consult my dermatologist and going through a course of medication to calm my flaming cheeks down. Retinols are just not worth it for my skin type.
I had so many issues with prescription retinoids, and then went through like every freaking one on the shelf. I found Olay24 night time syrum, which I guess has retinoid? It’s been the only one that didn’t dry my skin out terribly
I feel like niacinamide is the new "must have" like Vitamin C used to be, and I started including it in my routine a lot more, and only recently realized I'm very sensitive to it. I've now cut it out of my routine completely and my skin is much happier, but I'm still on the lookout for a pigmentation brightening ingredient that works for me. Skincare is so subjective!!
Niacinamide stings my skin and I hate that almost every skincare now has it. when I see a promising product and read the ingredient list I see it right there.
I know that niacinamide does react with my skin. And I checked to see which of my products had niacinamide in the ingredients… and basically almost ALL of them had it! Same with Hyaluronic Acid too (cue Doctor Shereene Idriss screaming in the distance). I’m trying to cut both Niacinamide and HA to just one product each for my routine but it is literally almost impossible to find a cleanser or moisturiser without it 😤
We NEED more of that gorgeous furbaby!!! He is so precious!!! Please just do a video of you playing with him... omg, can you do a doggy skin/paw care video? Just a puppy pamper session. ♡ please?!?!? Ps- you are my skincare guru. Thank you so much.
This made me feel a lot better about hating vitamin c products. They always sting and turn my entire face bright red and I felt like such a weirdo for being the one person that didn’t want that in their routine. Thank you for validating my feelings 😂💙
I’m totally with you on the vitamin c James! My skin just can’t get along with it at all. In fact I’ve just pretty much stopped using actives all together (apart from a salicylic acid cleanser every other night) and my skin is much happier than it was when I was battering it with acids, retinols, etc. (Also pls give Bishop a belly scratch from me ❤️🐶)
I love these updates! It's nice to see how products/techniques work out for you over time. It helps inform my routine without having to spend loads of $$$.
I feel like I needed to see this video. I've found myself breaking the "seasonal skincare" rule of swapping to heavier moistuzers and...I'm doing fine? With my normal moisturizer?? With no sleeping masks or facial oils either??? Wild lol
Great video and I definitely agree with James! The main reason I continue to use Vitamin C is because it doesn't just brighten, but it slows oxidative damage which causes collagen loss. It also biosynthesizes collagen. I see it more as a preventative product rather than a quick fix for evening out my skin tone. I agree there are better options for brightening. Just ordered my Paula's Choice Azelaic acid and can't wait to try it!
My skin didn’t badly react to vitamin c, but it definitely didn’t do what I wanted. I switched to azeleic acid in the AM instead of Vitamin C and it’s made such a difference in my hyper pigmentation and inflammation
Also our skincare needs change due to many factors, and even based on your environment. My routine is constantly evolving. When I was younger I was dealing more with acne and was outside more. Now I am dealing with aging and stay inside more often. I also just like experimenting with different brands and techniques.
How you feel about Vitamin C is how I feel about Hyaluronic and Salicylic acids!! No matter how low a percentage or how infrequently I use them, they always burn and make me bright pink and then I peel. Tried to push through because I read of loads of people's skin needing an adjustment time, and just couldn't do it. Everyone's skin is different, and no one product works for every single person! As always, I appreciate your transparency in videos like this! 💜
I didn't know the term "slugging" but it is literally what I do during winter. My fair combo/dry skin is craving for moisture and hydration. I currently use a super thick organic balm from a local herbalist on my face on the evening, and this stuff saves my skin. It feels so good, smells like heaven, and my skin totally drink it all throughout the night. On the morning during winter I just cleanse with a micellar water.
Been using eye creams, slowly stronger ones over the years. (since I was 20) I am 35 and not a single wrinkle around them yet. Never had someone guess my age. Hard-work paid off.
Awwwww look at the babbbaaayyyy!! For specific eye creams that actually target eye issues that I have seen a difference with are NIOD FECC and biopelle. Now my holy grails for dark circles around the eye. I also put them on my upper eye lid which I could not do with a regular moisturizer.
My skin’s great with vit C, but I have the same problem with retinoids. I can’t use anything with retinoids because it burns my eye skin so bad that it was creating fine lines (I’m only 20 for reference, was using the retinoids for acne), but for some reason I can use products with just vit A with zero issue.
As someone who first found you in my mid-late teens, the best advice you gave me was not cleansing in the morning, even if it's not what you stick to now! Not washing made me be more careful with layering and actives the night before, but then after I went on accutane and my oily skin became super dry, it's become practically a hard rule for me. I don't even let water touch my face unless it's on a morning where I wash my hair in the shower, which is 1-2 times a week. Doing this keeps my skin protected and supply, cuts down on the time it takes me to get ready in the morning (don't need cleanser, don't need moisturiser to soak in), and also stacks less layers on my face so everything is less likely to pill! Plus, not needing to apply moisturiser in the morning means I can really slather on my sunscreen and feel fine instead of bogged down.
I don’t think that eye creams are necessarily a scam but even with the added ingredients, they usually are overpriced. Let’s face it, there are some prices out there that are really ridiculous. I don’t use anything just because I have very sensitive eyes and basically anything will irritate it 😔
Seconded. Before jumping into any trend, i just wait now. It usually fades away or people grow out of it. The only constants since a year has been tretinoin, ceramides and oats. When it gets too much, i just let my skin breathe. Mild non-foamy cleanser once or twice max. And thats it. Of you using fragrance free stuff, you can dab it on eye too. No eye creams required. Its just gives me so much liberty to actually keep using stuff thats required by my skin while also maintaining quality. I have realised tapping these in the skin, letting them get absored wotk way better than just slapping 10s of product with zero technique. M bored of rubbing a cleanser on my face for 60secs in lockdowns (absolute no sense if you dont do makeup), bored of slapping in sunscreen when you are indoors (you really dont need reapplication) and i can go on and on. But you do you if that gives you calm.
To add on your mention with caffeine , the girls at chemist confessions mentioned that the caffeine in eye creams might not be enough. For any marked difference, you need about 100ml, and that’s like a cup of coffee which is definitely not in that amount in an eye product
Your skincare videos have changed my life! I am gifting a lot of friends, family, and even my daughter some of your favs and I cannot wait! You are a beautiful person inside and out love!
@@JamesWelsh I want to snuggle them so much! They should make guest appearances in your videos more often! I know that we can all agree that one cannot have enough pupper content. Hehe❤️❤️❤️
i used to be obsessed with specific extracts or ingredients I wanted and then have breakdowns when it didn't do shi for me. My skin is extremely stagnant, I have genetic acne (my mom's side) and I just stopped letting people and influencers gaslight me into thinking I was just using the wrong products lol. Now I just cleanse, moisturize, use SPF and if I feel like it I'll use an active, but no more religious 1 hour 10 product routines - and my skin looks exactly the same than with that expensive ass routine.
this was such a great video James! question: have you ever tried a vitamin C product that uses tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate?! it is way more stable (less oxidative) than other forms of vitamin C (like ascorbic acid) so for me, it doesn't cause any irritation or weird skin feelings. I've tried many vitamin C serums that are made with other forms of vitamin C and my skin tends to react poorly to them, so i can only use products with tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. if you ever come across a product that features THD ascorbate in a simple serum formulation, i would highly recommend trying it :)
@haley rachel....i was reading up on THD. What I learned was that it was 50X stronger than ascorbic acid therefore producig more collagen. And yeah like you said, its much more stable . I hadn't heard anyone ever mention THD before or after I learned about it. Glad someone else reads!
AWWW!! Such a sweet fur baby!! Also, I have to say James I have learned so much about skincare and how to work with my own skin thanks to you. I adore you and your brothers and always look forward to new videos for entertainment AND education.
Omg thank you James about the vitamin C! Ive heard everyone and their mother gush about it but it has only ever broken me out it's so nice to hear thay it doesn't work for someone else
I have heard (but don’t know if there’s science behind it) that Vitamin C often doesn’t work for rosacea prone skin! I have rosacea and stopped using l-ascorbic acid and find derivatives to be more doable. But there is a weird pressure to use Vit C during the day for sure !
I mean I think his point is that you don’t need an alternative! I think if you’re looking for a daytime active in lieu of Vit C, I usually go with an antioxidant serum to still boost the power and protection of my sunscreen.
My combination towards oily skin loves every form of petroleum jelly. I use one moisturizer for my face and skin and every part of my body is happy. I stoped using toners, essences and other "fancy" products, my skin loved that. Last winter start using retinaldehyde- that was the best decision ever!
My absolutely favorite skincare influencer. You're so gentle...it's a pleasure to watch you. I can't get that Make brand in SA and not sure if they ship here. Thank you James 😊
The biossance amino aloe cleanser also has amino acids surfactants super gentle and cleanses deeply leaving u still hydrated. Definitely trying out that Make one next! Love me some amino acids 💚
I've simplified my evening routine, cleanse balm by junoskin, a second cleanse with simple refreshing facial wash, then shower , I use pure aloe gel, vitamin e oil and pure glycerin after my shower, then I moisturize with neutrogena hydro boost, then I add vaseline around my eyes and my mouth, then my adapalene. I do my evening routine as soon as it gets dark so that it's done 2-3 hours before bed. No transfers to my sheets/pillows because my skin already absorbed it.
What an adorable dog!! Thank you for bringing up the “no cleanse in the morning” and what you do if you go to bed super occlusive and moist, if you put a lot of effort and passion into the evening routine. I’m that girl! And I can’t skip watching my face in the morning. My skin’s pretty “normal” and I don’t have any problems with my skin but even I would see breakouts if I stopped cleansing in the morning.
Loved seeing you with Bishop! I use CeraVe healing ointment on my face and it works well for me. I don’t find it too greasy, but I use a very small amount on trouble areas on my face. Works great on my body where is have trouble with eczema. I had never heard of slugging! Thanks for the great tips and advice! 💜🖤
I don't worry about washing my face everyday. I do try to remember moisturize everyday. I also don't worry anymore about using every product I have everyday, or every time I do my routine... but rather pay close attention and really listen to my skins needs... always trying to find that balance. I also learned about serums from your videos. I have found that my skin loves the serums I have tried, so far. I will definitely continue to explore those. My biggest struggle has always been my eyes. Thanks to genetics I constantly have dark circles, and puffiness. So far I have not found a product that has helped. But thanks to your knowledge James, I have not given up. I will definitely be trying some of these affordable creams hoping one works.
@@omomo202 I know, totally caught me off guard! I've been using Dr Jart ceramidin cream. It's not the cheapest 😬 but a little goes a long way and now I don't feel like I've been outside in the wind and rain all day!!
When I first got into skincare, I tried following some of these rules to see how they worked for me. Some did, some didn’t, but now I sort of go with the flow. Comfort is what matters to me. I hate being a glazed donut and I HATE not cleansing in the morning, so it makes no sense to keep to something that makes you feel icky after, no matter how good it is for the skin. I don’t even do my night routine most days because my skin doesn’t like being washed and smeared with stuff twice a day, and it works just fine.
I thought I was the only one in the world that didn't use a vitamin c. My skin just doesn't tolerate it. You're right, it seems like people are looking at you going "shame, shame" 😆
Your dogggg, oh my Goood! 😭❤️❤️ (sorry, I could’t resist 😂) Now about skincare - I watched Your video many months ago where you said you do not cleanse your face in the morning and I started doing it because I have similar skin as you. And I really noticed my skin loves it, I also cleanse only after many layers from night before with gentle cleanser and that’s something that really works for me. Everybody is always: CLEANSE IN THE MORNINGGG! No. Just find what your skin loves (and listen to James 😂) Thank you for your advices, we adore you! 🥰
I use a heavy moisturizer at night and a lighter one in the morning, so I can just wash my face with water in the morning to get the remaining oils and such off.
I was totally into the vitamin c trend for a while. It didn’t do as much as the hype. It worked ok and pretty well, but I found some better alternatives. Great video! ❤️👍💋
I never could get on the slugging train but I think spot treatment after cleansing and actives would be beneficial for scars. For my c section scar I got silicone pads to cover it because the simple act of keeping the scar covered and out of exposure to oxygen is super beneficial.
What a cute pup! My boxer would get in my face like that whenever I was sitting down and would just put his paw in my lap until he decided the petting was adequate. Your dog is so adorable
I used to be very very into the " don't put anything your kids can't pronounce on your skin" regimen and then had a radical hysterectomy and my skin said * hey.... Remember being 13.... Wellllllll... Welcome back!* My crazy skin now can't handle anything heavy but will drink serum by the gallon... Needless to say my kids can't pronounce most serum ingredients hahaha 🤣🤣🤣 💜 Happy holidays darlings
I always thought I had to wash my face in the morning. Come to find out, my very dry skin prefers only one wash at the end of the day (using only a cleansing balm). It changed my skin once I decided to go against the norms. Oh, I also live in a desert like climate 9,000ft above sea level. It’s so dry 🥴
Omg right off the bat- YESSSS! I get night sweats and suffer from recurring folliculitis but also have super sensitive, drier skin. While I have noticed a marked difference for the better just cleansing my face at night, sometimes an AM cleanse is unavoidable. 😬
