One of this biggest mistake fans make is expecting bands to have one sound. This is not their "normal" sound but it's fucking great. Not bad at all and hope they tour the US
I even never understood that thing... I guess it is the thing when you have grown up as a millenial and are used to the "mainstream" stuff where things mostly stay the same. Me as an avid music lover since when I was a young teenager, always searching for different stuff, it made me even more love a band when they presented new stuff...
When I was a bit younger I also got upset over sound changes. Since then I experienced many artists and in many genres. There's always another band that fits my mood. Nobody has to deliver what I expect them to. Years later I can enjoy stilistic changes to further open my musical mind. Rock on, guys! 🤘
I love this style! I know its much different from all previous albums but this definitely is very well done as well. Just shows how Skindred isn't a one trick pony band and can branch out and still blow minds. Keep rockin it guys!
I didn't know he recorded the album. I did know it was recorded in his studio. But it does sound like a Peter Gabriel song. Or kind of reminds me of U2's "Numb", when that song first came out people were pretty disappointed, but "Zooropa" was a great album. I think "Big Tings" is gonna be a great album, just not what were used to.
Caught me off guard at first, but man I love this whole album. Skindred has always had a fairly unique sound, and this just cements them into that sound.
It looks like the meaning of the song is that the bigger things are debt and responsibilities of life and he can't trust himself because he gambles and smokes his problems away when he can see them coming. The line i can see them coming over the horizon i don't think i can trust myself is where i got this. Just food for thaught :)
people be saying that this song is not what there use to but maybe thats the point, you cannot stick to something for ever you have to change things up make something new and if it does not go well you revert back to what you know, honestly i quite like this song
Love it, and I feel a lot of relation to the lyrics. Especially how things have been going lately, it's hard to hold on. I want to push forward, but I feel things breaking that have been the foundations to my stability. Many times, I don't know what to do, or ask for... Like I'm going to a place for mental health, and they ask what do I want that could help me, or do I know things that I could try differently. I don't know. Then they just push meds, and that's been a huge problem starter ever since I was a child. Now that I'm growing up, I'm realising there's so much more temptation and things to break me... Keep it up y'all, love the song, and still feels like the old days albums. :)
"I stay sweet as a nut, sweet like Tropicana When the hammer hits, your head splits like banana You're not ready for this boy You better send your best soldiers, this is Captain Roscoe More destructive and troublesome than ever I'll probably be doing this, probably forever Fellas wanna stop me they'll probably come together Its probable they'll stop me, probably never.". Yeah, I know the beat is from 'The Big Beat' but 'Fix Up, Look Sharp' is still a Banger. Excellent song. I'm definitely going to start watch 'Brassic' too.
Some lines of the music sound like they're out of a cartoon show called "Milo murphy's law". I'd only know because I may have binged it and got the theme song stuck in my head.
*need new music* *randomly out of nowhere* "Hmm, I wonder what Skindred's been up to recently?" *Types Skindred into search bar* "Oh look, a new Skindred song.... uploaded 21 hours ago..." Ó_o #bigtingsallinmybrain
I'm digging this. The last tracks are pretty hard rock tinged and I don't mind it. I think the rest will be heavier, since the band seemed pretty apologetic for the amount of softer tracks on Power and as a result Volumes was a lot heavier. Keep faith guys. The singles aren't always the best representation
Aye, I thought this too. Though the original was by Volume 10, Renegades album are all covers. Just went through the Brassic soundtrack to find this, never would have guessed Skindred had gone into alt-rock.
Turn this album down, you know that we can't take it! Burn it to the ground, watch how we shatter and break it! Stress it just drops us to the ground, cannot stand this new sound, please don't turn it up cause we turn it down.
Not bad, but if this was played on the radio, would Skindred be the first band coming to mind? It's different, and still solid, but the standout features seem to have been watered down. The world of rock doesn't need another radio-friendly band to blend into the airwaves seamlesly.
I’ve loved skindred for a long time but just heard this song on ‘Brasdic’ and had no idea what it was but liked it so had to find out what it was, was a nice surprise to learn it was skindred
